Geriatric MM Warriors!

Hi

Thank you ladies for your encouraging words for my mom--she is still in the hospital being tested so hopefully they'll find out what is going on. Of course last night I got through reading a bunch of posts but then couldn't send my large page of replies!!! Please know that I love you so much, its so nice to know that I can come here and be supported for more than just my weight:grouphug:

I'm going to be researching chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and candida (which my son has been diagnosed in the past and I have always suspected I have) so I will jump in here as often as I have time in the next few days.

I got some sad news yesterday. I woman that I have known for some time went to the airport on Thursday to pick up her husband (he works in Los Angeles and commutes back and forth from the Bay Area). He wasn't there so while she was calling his office to see if they knew if he had missed his plane, the sheriff called and told her that he had died the day before of a heart attack. So sad. And can you believe that no one told her? His office knew the day before because they were the ones that got worried when he didn't come in and had someone go over to where he was staying.

Please say a prayer for Marinda and her daughter Esther.

OMG how awful. Horrible enough that he died, but the fact that his office didn't send someone over is unconscionable (sp?). Prayers said.

Good to see you ladies (and Tom if he is lurking).

Today is a busy day in my house.

I had Zumba Gold at 9:00.

The boys have gone to camp to set up for the Boy Scout Ghostwalk tonight. I'll be working the refreshment table. We do this annually as a free event for local Cub Scouts and their families.

DD10 is making her second batch of Halloween funfetti cupcakes for tonight. She then is going to work at 1:00 p.m. at the Yacht Club's kids Halloween party. While she is gone, I have to make cookies for tonight. I have the preformed frozen kind, so I'll cheat and do it the easy way.

My real concern is dinner tonight. We are serving hotdogs and chips after the Ghostwalk (9:00), however I am supposed to be there at 5:00. So, I think I'll have a sandwich with my 11-20 before I go (with DD working, I don't think we'll make it exactly at 5:00 anyway?). If I'm hungry at 9:00 I'll eat a hot dog without any bun and go from there.

Have a great day and I'll check in later!

Pony, I know Christmas has gotten like you describe. It was actually hyped up quite a bit from where it used to be by advertisers. I am a Christmas nut defiantly. But I don't give expensive presents and never feel obligated to buy a present for anyone. I often make them. I love making the house look all festive, and we watch a lot of sappy movies. Every Christmas eve at midnight we sing happy birthday to Jesus. I rarely go into a store between Thanksgiving and Christmas and do my food shopping just in a grocery store or Family dollar. Although here Wal-Mart is 24 hours so 3am should be pretty clear too! Up in Maine there was a Christmas parade the first weekend after thanksgiving and afterward the men would build a huge fire in one of the downtown steel trash barrels and the whole town would hang out and talk. It's not all ugly. I hope your Christmas this year has more good than bad.

Carol, I type my response in my computer somewhere. Like using word, or even a blank email page. Then I copy it and paste it into the reply. I hate it when I loose a long post. Sorry it happened to you.

Kate, I'm sorry about your friend. It's awful.

Lisa, that's hysterical about the dog dropping the ball. I have that same issue. Actually, I cannot use the toilet in peace. Somehow Budakka knows how to get the door open and always brings a toy.

My kid's aren't socialized well enough with other dogs to bring them to the store. They cause a ruckus. My fault.

I'm coming down with something. I'm aching worse than usual, have the chills and am sneezing. I'm going to go and stuff envelopes. Talk to everyone soon!

Well it looks as though you guys are all busy doing other stuff today! It is rainy and dreary here, so good day to be working!

Kate - that is so absolutely horrible about your friend...will be praying for her and her family...what in the WORLD were they thinking at his workplace?

Kathy - I cant consider shopping exercise, since I do most of it from my computer! LOL, I absolutely hate going to the malls...of course maybe when I am skinny again I wil re-think that! :)

Lisa - Ok, so its not that I hate CHRISTMAS per se, just the commercialization and shopping part! I love going to church and having dinner with the family....and DD's fiancee has two children, so at least we have some youngsters in the family to liven things up!

Carol - had a thought...does Lobster eat lobster? just wondered, since my doggie loves seafood! Praying for your friend and her radiation battle!

Natalie - glad your mom is a little better, and hoping they find out whats going on soon.

Bev - Have fun at the Ghostwalk...sounds like a good time!

Hi Nell - I KNOW! I didnt mean to sound so negative about it. I do love all the religious aspects and the opportunity to celebrate Jesus birthday and our continuing blessings from the Lord. Not much into the light shows and all, but I do have a lovely nativity scene that was my grandmothers that I love to set up on a table in my living room. I feel so peaceful and calm when I look at it! And I like to gather evergreen branches from around my property to make wreaths and garlands. So I am not a total SCROOGE!!:thumbsup2

Phew! That's so good to know! No Scrooges allowed! I love decorating my tree, although I am usually doing it alone as even after 31 years, hubby hasn't gotten over the fact that his Mom and Dad fought over the tree! He'll keep me company by watching a ball game, though, and get all my boxes down without complaining. Today we're tyring to hang new coach lights and I'm scrubbing all the outside doors. Of course, he's gone again to the hardware store, as you can never get all the hardware you need in one trip! Next, I'm planing mums in pumpkins for the front porch if all goes well. They are the hollow pumpkins from Michaels that look real. I fill them with soil and they last til Christmas. Have a great MM day!

Kate: I am horrified for your poor friend! I can't imagine what reason they would have not to notify her straight away. I has to have made a horrible situation so much worse than it needed to be. Bless her heart! We are praying for her and her daughter and rest of the family that they find some peace.

Good day everyone! :wave2:

I put together another post today and it went "poof" when I submitted it. Grrr! Oh well, lesson learned.

Robin I was so glad to see that you corrected what you'd said about hating Christmas, to hating the commercialization of it only. I cringed when I read that you hated it. I love it...totally and completely love it. I also agree with you about it being horribly commercialized. For a long time it bothered me so much then I changed my mind set (and put blinders on) about it and now I enjoy it more than ever. This entire country is pretty much about making a buck anyway it can be made, why do we let it bother us only at Christmas time? Christmas is seeded in our hearts, based on faith, and honored by our traditions. Don't let the folks out for profit only, ruin it for you. I hope your day speeds by quickly, 12 hour shifts have got to be brutal!

Barb, Christmas really does change when your kids get older and then begins anew once the grand babies arrive. I took my two eldest ones last year to make a Santa's cookie plate and milk mug at a local ceramic shop. They made a mess of it and on Christmas eve I have them decorate cut out cookies. They matched the plate! lol It's so much fun seeing things from the eyes of a child once again.

Lisa, you sound so much like me being all content about doing home stuff. I live for it. DH has been taking Sundays off a lot lately and my honey do list is a mile long. I'm like the plumbers wife with the leaky faucet!
The usual way I get him to do what I want is to start it myself, (knowing that I can't really complete it) then he's forced to step in! Bahaha!

Kate that is just horrible about your friend! I have to wonder if it was a case of everyone assuming that someone else had made the proper calls. Even so, you'd think someone would have called to express condolences.

You guys talking about not sleeping? My good sleep stopped again as well. I'm lucky to get six hours in a night. Before I started Step I, I couldn't tell you the last time I even had gotten five straight hours. I guess I should be grateful for the six I'm getting now, but sure miss the seven or eight! That might be a good one to ask Diane about.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Nell!

I think I quit painting too early today, I'm sitting here wondering what next?:confused3

Pam: We do sound like we have a lot in common! I'm in for a break from the pumpkins while Tom grabs a late lunch. His liver fed him a bagel at the hardware store - he says it was delicious, LOL! The way I get him to help me is to flirt unmercifully; it's the only thing that works and he knows the game, so the joke is probably on me!

Darn it, I screwed up too...waited to eat my breakfast in the car on the way to work, and got a phone call instead, so forgot to eat, then got right to work and ended up with 8 hours between feeding! DARN IT, is that going to screw me up again?

I am counting the minutes down now...only 2 hours and 15 minutes to go! Then off to the gym, as Ken is in the air on the way from China to London, so wont talk to him til morning...:sad2:

Hope theres somebody here late tonite to talk to!!:flower3:

Have a good workout, Robin! We might go out to eat cause we have a gift card, but we're running pretty slowly so it might be eggs, lol! We're only on light 2 out of 3. :confused3 At least the porch looks festive with corn stalks, scarecrow, pumpkins and mums.:love:Someone needs to come visit me!

Sounds really nice Lisa...my mom is SO about all that kind of decorating!! Im sure I will come home one night in the near future to find one of those crazy things hanging from the ceiling that makes all kind of weird ghost noises when you walk by it! LOL, she thinks that thing is the bomb! I usually put up with it for about 2 days then take it down and hide it from her!:rolleyes1

I had eggs with salsa and mushrooms. YUM. You need to take a pic of your front porch!!! Hope you had fun!

So today was a deep cleaning day. We started in the kitchen hall way and completely took everything out of our pantry and cleaned it out, organized all the food and it looks so nice!! Then we went to the kitchen and cleaned the floors, cleaned out each cabinet and washed down the fronts. We purged a WHOLE BUNCH OF CRAP!!! I feel so much better. I made meatloaf for the kids and I had made crockpot pulled pork and that's what Hubby had. Tomorrow we have to clean out the basement because we are having two new furnaces installed and the boys have their clothes all over in their bedroom down there. It's like a whole big apartment for them. The living room has a bunch of baby toys and we need to put them away too, we had our ducts cleaned a couple weeks ago and haven't had a chance to get stuff put away. I may do purging down there too. Too much CRAP!!!

I'm all about out with the old (as long as it's really no good) and in with the new. We also ordered a new front door and the contractor was supposed to come here and measure and 2x hasn't shown up!! Really aggrevating!

How is everyone doing tonight?

I stuck a kid's pumpkin bucket that they carry for their candy in my front window and stuck a plugged in Christmas Candle in it upside down. Call me decorated! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I don't think your a scrooge at all. I think you have strong beliefs and are passionate about them. That's a good thing!

Your porch sounds beautiful!

Cindy: Wow, you got a lot done today! I love purging – it makes room for good to come in. And you cooked amongst all that cleaning! Amazing! I wish we had a Wonder Woman smiley!:tink:

Nell: You are so creative! I have a bunch of inside decorations, but I’m waiting for grandkids now as there is no one to really appreciate all the stuff I used to put out. I need to send John-Paul something for Halloween. In the past I’ve mailed him a Whole Foods card and he can go get a bunch of cool stuff there. The roommates get to eat it all, too, but that’s cool. At least they are cooking together.

I have no outside decorations this year, but have plenty inside. Nice harvest decorations, nothing really wild. I keep saying that "next" year will be the year I get to the decorating outside. We have 3 big pumpkins and two little ones that the kids carved/painted and a couple mums. That's the extent of my decorating this year. I'll post the pumpkins. They did a great job on them...

If I can figure out how to put a pic on...not the same as on LCF.
