Well, I think I started this back and forth with a very long post trying express my understanding of a Variety article about how Disney leaders are scratching their heads getting men back to the brands they spent billions on, and specifically the focus on young men and boys. Now I feel bad.

To get back into everyone's good graces, I will share some "red meat" from Ewan MacGregor and the Patty Jenkins project, Rogue Squadron. Hopefully this will help sate folks' appetite for General Star Wars discussion..

I'm a woman and I like Star Wars. Moving on....

I'm NOT getting my hopes up about Rogue Squadron again, but it's all I've ever wanted. (Okay, that's a lie, I want canon Mara Jade, but I don't trust them (ie Filoni) to get her right.)

Also, I'm going to throw out my conspiracy theory that Lucasfilm saw all the interviews with David Corenswet wanting to be an X-wing pilot and decided to fast track the project to get him involved before they film another Superman movie.

Does it, though? There were a lot of fans at th time that found The Empire Strikes Back to be a jarring 180 from the first film. Then Jedis was a corection for that (overcorrection?). I think maybe they filled in the gaps a bit better, but it's really very similar. THe ST is the same, Iconic first movie, darker second movie, lighter and sillier third movie.

You left out that the ST completely destroyed the hero of a generation in Luke Skywalker. Seems to be a huge difference between the two trilogies.

I'd argue with Ewan that Andor season 3 already happened. It's called Rogue One. We don't need up to the minute narratives on everything leading up to the first Star Wars. Also Disney isn't paying for that.

I hope Top Gun Maverick shows that something like Rogue Squadron could really work. Though I think that's what Starfighter will be.
