Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

That little dude the CM is holding is pretty cute! I definitely want to hit that place on the next trip.

Hope you had a successful zoo trip. The weather here is crazy -- it's gone from sunny and 60's to 40's and rainy back and forth for the past couple of weeks. Today it's in the 40's and it feels so raw! This is typical Massachusetts/New England weather but I am soooo ready for nice, warm weather!

Your girls are so cute!
The gift shops are AK have some of the best stuff. I love the animal books.
Hope you have a great trip to the zoo today.

I love the goats! My DBFF is terrified of them! It is my goal this year to get her to at least brush one of them. The girls look like they had a great time with the animals and their family!:goodvibes

As for Dinosaur...you can laugh at me for being afraid of that, and I'll laugh at you for being afraid of my snowglobes!

cool AK pictures! We didn't see a ton of activity at Rafiki's planet watch - but they did have a little show with a hedgehog (I think) and a skunk! no medical procedures.

I am loving those Disney store pictures! That NYC store must be huge!!

We are in the lousy weather area. Woke up to about 2 inches of snow on my yard!! Yes, SNOW! It should melt tomorrow, but still, I have flowers coming up! Will WINTER ever end???
The average high now is supposed to be around 60. This morning it was 33 when I went to work.

I hope the weather at the zoo is better!

Love the pics of Rafiki's. We finally went there this last trip but did not stay very long. I really want to explore more next time.
The pics from NYC disney store are great! I wish I could go there. Another physician in my practice is leaving for NYC today.
Hope the weather gets better today. I want to exercise outside!

Caren!! Hope you had a great field trip today if you guys made it!! The zoo sounds like so much fun, I would love to take my kids but field trips are a no no for high schoolers in Texas (don't know why, just is)!!!!!

Loved the pictures of the girls, they are just so adorable!!!!

I loved the Rafiki's planet watch pictures. DH and I always enjoy visiting and try to get over there during the morning hrs, because of the Vet. Plus the train ride over is always fun. It is the only way to see some of the behind the scenes building and animals.

I do not understand people to skip Animal Kingdom, I love all the animals. I would go even if there were no rides. I love the shows at AK also.

I guess it was a zoo day all around! I hope that your zoo was less crowded than the National Zoo was today! I had completely forgotten about spring break and it was wall to wall people! :scared1:

Everett and I did manage to still have a good time, we headed to the way back, where most tourist don't make it, and enjoyed the children's area and the Amazon Rainforest exhibit. Everett loved the big fish tanks with the piranhas, but they creep me out a little! We also spent a little playing in the prairie dog playground, and then headed out. We did do a quick walk by the pandas, and caught a glimpse of panda rump, but it was so crazy we turned around and left. We'll have to go back another time, I'm sure they'll be more nice days before tourist season really starts up!

It looks like you guys had a great time at Rafikis! Those are some brave girls to pet the alligator! The petting zoo area looks like fun also! I remember being back there one time and the guard was telling everyone to put their park maps away because the goats like to eat them. Sure enough, one silly guest took out his park map, and a goat made a bee-line for the guest, grabbed the map out of his hands, and chomped it down in two seconds flat. I'm sure it wasn't good for the goats tummy, but it was pretty funny, especially the look on the guests face!

We'll go check out the goats on this next trip, but we'll be sure to leave all paper properly put away! :)

I hope the field trip at the zoo went well today! :)

I'm like Brooklynn, I could spend an hour petting and brushing the goats as well. I don't know what it is about goats but I think they're pretty cute.

I remember this was one of the few places that we could find children's books. My DD LOVES books and that was what she wanted to spend her souvenir money on, but they were pretty hard to find in the parks. We found some there and in England and that was about it.

We didn't get to see any of the animal demos or surgeries when we were back there either. That would have been nice. It was really deserted when we were there and we kind of felt like it was a waste of too much time. You had much better luck!

Books are nice gifts, but none of those are too cheap, unfortunately. I think we've only ever gone to Rafiki's once on an afternoon, when there was no procedure happening. That does add to the fun of it, but the teacher in me gets into some of the other things that other might not.

:sunny: Wishing everyone sunny skies today!!! :sunny:

We are having a windy, freezing raiin morning with showers the rest of the day...:umbrella:

Some areas even got snow! So crazy!

I hope you get to the Zoo today!
Are you able to reshedule?

Very excitting to have the Disney Store visit in a few days!
I hope BrooklynnsMommy finds all kinds of things to fill her bags!

We did not have sunny skies, but we did get to have our field trip. There was a fine mist when we first arrived, but it stopped within a few minutes after we got going. No more umbrellas after that. :)

Jill will be buying. I will be snapping pictures. ;)

Maybe this will make you smile?

For Brooklynn's party???

For any of the "angry Mickey fans"....I much prefer a happy smiling Mickey.

I wanted this until I saw the price tag! Over $300! It really was a very nice bag!

These are expensive little trinkets....for the more refined Disney fan!

Love these! I regret not picking this up.
Sorry...warning! Close your eyes Memom!

Another great tee! So Sparkly!

Disney Musical merchandise.....Lion King & Mary Poppins.

I tried to take pics of the pins, but they didn't turn out. What's the secret?

Great bag!

Plush galore!

I've never noticed the Owl before.

Lexi loves Nightmare before Christmas,

I think that's all the downstairs pics that I took....next time we take the escalator upstairs....what will we see...

Brooklynn seems to have her heart set on a Tangled party, but Jill and I obviously are trying to sway her toward a safari. I think we'll give it one more go when we go to the zoo this weekend. We can reword it and ask her if she wants a zoo party! Maybe since she'll be surrounded by the zoo animals, she'll go with it. If not, then I'm folding, and Tangled it will be. :thumbsup2

We're expecting a high of 94 degrees today

Wow! :cool2:
It was a good zoo day here - probably low 70's and overcast.

Jackie - I got your back. Right now it look like rain- heavy rain but most of the bad stuff is gone.

MeMom- looks like your zoo trip is on!!!

There is a portion of the storm trying to sneak around the mountains and I hope all my sunshine right now is not going to mean trouble later.

Ah yes the Zyrtec does that to me too- that's why I take Claritin.
Hot showers to ease the sinus issues help. That or Sudafed.

Bella looks comfy up there.

Coooommmmeeee Onnnnnn MeMom.

How Sweet.

Love those eyelashes

I knew you'd see those eyelashes! I really don't remember her having an eyelash episode that morning, so maybe she figured out that nobody in all the thousands had really noticed her on the previous day.

A good hot shower does help the sinuses. Hot water running on the back of my neck is heavenly.

The group is often looking back as I catch up. ;)

Hey MeMom, great pictures of AK, Brooklynn looks like she loves petting the goats.
Have fun at the zoo today!

We did have a nice time. All but one of my students was able to go. One is a runner, so he is a safety risk and could not go. My other 'issue' boy has been sort of adopted by one of our school secretaries who has really stepped in and been a positive force in his life while he is at school. She volunteered to go and be his personal chaperone. He was tickled to death. It was so cute.

Hi everyone! I hope all the icky weather clears up!! Not fun!!

We had snow yesterday....yes, you read that right. It's all gone today but we had those in-between days temperature wise where it was just cold enough to come as sleet - snow vs rain. Today should be a bit warmer - I hope!!!

No snow! Time for spring!!!
I know you have got to be so ready for warm weather to come and stay a while.

I am getting all caught up! So glad you posted the times for the surgeries/check ups at Rafiki's. I want to take Jeremy to see one this year and will definitely make it over mid-morning.
How cute that Bella would meet Pochahantas! She was too cute on the train ride.

It looks like you had a great time at Rafiki's!

Sure hope you get to the zoo today. The storms came through here (Ohio) late last night. Not too much damage at home but we have a lot of power outages here at work. Jeremy goes on his class field trip at the end of May and it is to the Cincy Zoo.

Glad to hear you are feeling better!

There were a lot of power lines down and debris in the streets in some areas, but luckily it didn't keep any of our field trip buses from getting to us.

I did think Bella was cute sitting up like a big girl on the train.

I love the picture of Bella on the train. We have never been to that part of Animal Kingdom. Maybe one day.

You should give it a try. ::yes::

I like that they really get guests involved, watching the surgery or petting an animal. My kiddos had a lot of fun too, brushing the goats. We made sure to wash our hands really well afterwards though. lol! Have a good day at the zoo MeMom!

Dr. Mark is so interested in his animals, and he will answer questions for a long time. He gives detailed answers, too, and doesn't just pass over them quickly. I think he's just a super guy who is perfect for that job.

That little dude the CM is holding is pretty cute! I definitely want to hit that place on the next trip.

When I first read your post, I thought you were saying the CM was pretty cute! I thought Charles might need to be notified.

Why don't you get your family to move futher south. Tennessee is a nice place. :)

Your girls are so cute!
The gift shops are AK have some of the best stuff. I love the animal books.
Hope you have a great trip to the zoo today.

AK does have great gift shops.

We had a good day. I hope the kids are telling their parents lots of fun things about their trip.

I love the goats! My DBFF is terrified of them! It is my goal this year to get her to at least brush one of them. The girls look like they had a great time with the animals and their family!

As for Dinosaur...you can laugh at me for being afraid of that, and I'll laugh at you for being afraid of my snowglobes!

Yeah, if you want me to get away, just pull out the snowglobes. I'm gone!

A skunk? Cool.

Winter is holding on, isn't it?

Love the pics of Rafiki's. We finally went there this last trip but did not stay very long. I really want to explore more next time.

Seems like April is always so rainy around here. It would be great to get out and walk in the sunshine.

Caren!! Hope you had a great field trip today if you guys made it!! The zoo sounds like so much fun, I would love to take my kids but field trips are a no no for high schoolers in Texas (don't know why, just is)!!!!!

Loved the pictures of the girls, they are just so adorable!!!!

They are sweethearts. I was listening to them as they made their way through the grocery store a little while ago. I wanted to be there with them.

Jill and I want to do some of the behind the scenes tours someday.

I love the shows, too. I'd be happy if they added some more things like Nemo, Festival of the Lion King, and Flights of Wonder.

I guess it was a zoo day all around! I hope that your zoo was less crowded than the National Zoo was today! I had completely forgotten about spring break and it was wall to wall people!

Thankfully, our experience was just the opposite. Our zoo was not at all crowded. I only saw one other school group besides ours. I anticipate the Louisville Zoo to be super-crowded if we make it up there on Saturday.

I hope the field trip at the zoo went well today!

I'm like Brooklynn, I could spend an hour petting and brushing the goats as well. I don't know what it is about goats but I think they're pretty cute.

The goats either really like being brushed or they are very, very patient and tolerant of it.

I have some zoo pictures, but I have to go out to the car to get the camera, and right now I am being lazy. :upsidedow

Brooklyn taking care of the goats is precious as is Bella sitting on the train!!! Makes me really want to be at AK right now! :lovestruc

Are you guys going to see African Cats this weekend? I am trying to decide -- I don't want to see it if anything bad happens to either cat family. You know I can't handle things like that.

Pat, I did notice it was all rain by the time it was anywhere near us. Whew! :goodvibes

Good luck steering Brooklyn toward that zoo party! My DD Emma is having her 7th birthday party shortly before we go. She's had superhero parties the last 2 years. First one was Wonder Woman....it was great! Last year she asked all the kids to dress as their favorite superhero. We had every superhero you could think of! My DS Daniel (he's 13) dressed up as the Joker (it was just a tshirt) and he was the villain. They all went after him. It was priceless, and he loved it! This year we're doing Mickey Mouse. We both thought that'd be appropriate considering we're spending her 7th birthday at Disney :smickey:

Why don't you get your family to move futher south. Tennessee is a nice place. :)

 Nope, no need to notify Charles!

I think moving further south would be total culture shock for us! Even just going out to Ohio and seeing the differences in prices is crazy. I'm also not sure I could handle your summers -- it gets hot and humid here so I can't imagine how much worse it is further south.

I meant to say in the last post, I loved the picture of Brooklynn brushing the goat at AK!

If you guys end up going to see African Cats, I'd also like to hear about it, for the same reason as Jackie.

I keep looking at Kay's eyelashes, too! But I'll bet no one at the parks noticed one whit.

What a blessing your colleague is to that special boy. Now he has two heroes at school, the lucky boy. I hope they had a wonderful day together. Off-campus outings are a terrific way to build teams & create memories to cherish. Plus, no homework to assign or do!

We'll let you know if we see it this weekend. We're trying to work in a visit with Brandy's new baby and taking food for her and Joan, going to the zoo and Disney Storein Louisville, and seeing African Cats. My latest solution, since Jill needs to be back in AL for Easter Sunday, it may end up that we go down there to see African Cats at her theater on Sunday afternoon or just holding off to another week. Tanya and Trent are both off Saturday and Sunday this week, so that's why we're trying to squeeze it in now, but I don't know if it is going to work.

I'd love to be on the train on the way to Rafiki's right now, too. :goodvibes

Well, one more attempt at the zoo/safari deal, and then I'm cool with Tangled. We're making her write her name in blood that we can do a safari party for her 6th birthday.

It sure does get warm down here in the summer. This summer, though, I think it is going to be much more happily welcomed because of the crazy winter we had. :cool1:

She is a special lady. I meant to get a picture of them at the zoo together yesterday, but their group got away from ours pretty quickly. I know they both had a fun day.

No homework last night or tonight for the whole weekend! :dance3:

Hope you have a great weekend no matter what y'all end up doing. We have had so much rain and up and down temps that it's hard to plan anything. When it's not raining and warm it is so very windy. But, it looks like Sarah, Sam, and Ty and this old lady will be making a trip to Memphis tomorrow to the zoo. Then the girls want to go to the mall so while they shop Nonnie and Ty will hit the Disney store. Most likely it will be as close to Disney as I get this year.:sad1:

Anyway I've been enjoying your updates and those girls are as cute as ever.

That's what we have had - rain and wind or no rain and wind.

We're still up in the air about the zoo. I need to go check the weather update.

It was now to eat a little something.

We went to Restaurantosaurus.

A tray of desserts that we would normally not get if not on the free dining plan.

Next - to The Boneyard.

It was then decided that Kay, Brooklynn, Trent, Tanya, and I would go and see the Nemo musical and Jill would go back to the room with Bella.

And, this is not definite, but we're looking at possibly going back to Disney in January 2012! It would be after New Years and before MLK weekend, so that it wouldn't interfere with Kailyn and I going back to school for the spring semester. Like I said, it's not definite, but my mom said that she wants to plan a trip, so I'm really excited!

Before Meg told me about this, I was already plotting :scratchin I'm planning on getting a job this summer, and I already asked my mom about this and she said if I can help pay for it, we can probably go next year. I'm definitely gonna be saving my paychecks. It's perfect motivation for me ;) And we already decided that if we go next year it'll be the same week as Meg. I don't really want to go during spring break or the summer, and my spring semester next year doesn't start until somewhere around Jan 20. I have this all planned out  I texted Meg something like "Is it ridiculous that I'm getting all excited about a hypothetical Disney trip that may be possible because of a job that I don't have yet?" :rotfl:

Hope you had a successful zoo trip. The weather here is crazy -- it's gone from sunny and 60's to 40's and rainy back and forth for the past couple of weeks. Today it's in the 40's and it feels so raw! This is typical Massachusetts/New England weather but I am soooo ready for nice, warm weather!

As long as the weather is good next Saturday! There can't be rain for my birthday Sox game and DIS meet :snooty: ;)

I know I have missed a few updates but I have been reading one of your old TR's and now i'm confused as to what to comment on. :lmao: So i'll just comment on the latest update.

Brooklynn does not look very happy with her pail of food. She seems a little disappointed.

I am a mean mommy and didn't take Creighton into the dig site. :sad2:
