Gee Whiz, we wish we had the time...wait, we do!!!!!!

OK guys, I started my day by firing someone. That's 5 people I have fired this year. In this economy, it's absolutely heartbreaking but I know that there are people out there who want to work; I just seem to have the knack for hiring the ones who do not want to work.

The one I fired today came into work yesterday so intoxicated that she couldn't walk or talk. She needed assistance turning on her computer. She is our customer rep; the one who spends all day talking on the phone to our customers. So I sent her home yesterday and then confirmed with our attorney that it was okay to fire her when she returned.

Seriously, what are people thinking?

Obviously they are not thinking at all. Did she come straight to work after being out all night? I'm sorry she put you in the position of having to fire her, I know you don't take it lightly.

What an idiot!

People have actually come back from lunch drunk at DH's work. Pretty stupid because they can injure themselves or others. They have also come into work obviously having used illegal drugs. They should be fired, but aren't.

I had to do that exact thing once except it was a long-time employee. After he showed up drunk off his butt a third time (the prior two times we sent him home and gave him counseling sessions), we fired him. It is sad, but ya gotta do what you gotta do.

It this day and age, I cannot believe that people would show up drunk for work. (yeah, I said that!!!)

kinda ties the hands of the employer, especially if that employee is the "face" of the business to the customers.

maybe I should start a business "pirate firings" for a small fee I come to the business and have the terminated employee walk the plank!

Well my dears, it's time for me to go. See you Sunday!!!!!!!!!

have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

GP I would gladly pay a "walk the plank" fee if I could get out of ever firing another employee.

The company I work for is a great place, very generous to its employees. I sometimes think that my staff just becomes complacent after time and takes advantage of the generosity found here.

The ones I have fired this year

1) Accountant who spent all day reading personal books (she kept them on her lap under her desk) and texting; she continued to do it after I told her not to. Her way to stop me from finding out was she placed a mirror on the wall outside of her office so that she could see me coming down the hallway. I fired her for sending an email to a huge customer rep, telling the rep she was "STOOPID".
2) Receptionist who had been late 83 days this year. After being warned, she began falsifying her time records because she thought I was too dumb to notice.
3) HR Manager who revealed "sensitive" personal information about an executive here.
4) Accounts payable who only worked one 40 hour week this entire year; she called in sick at least one day every week.
5) Customer service who came to work high on drugs (she was not drinking--she's had several DUI's and gave up alcohol).

In this economy, I would not be reading books under my desk, showing up late every day, coming in stoned, etc.

But my favorite all time firing here was the guy who came to work with his fighting rooster tied to his back under his shirt. It was noticed that blood was seeping through his shirt and when asked, he said he hadn't had time to go home after the fights. DUH, we are a FOOD manufacturing company, we can't exactly have BLOOD on the production floors here.

Scotlass, I'm loving the hairy bahookie. Thanks for posting.

PK, I saw another thread that was saying that shoulder pads were back in style. I am waiting for you to post on it.

Happy Monday all.

As soon as I saw that thread this morning Pakey, I thought of you, thinking of me. :lmao: Shoulder pads looked great in the 80's, made my waist look even smaller, but common, at my size now, I'd need a pillow on each shoulder to make my waist look thinner. :rotfl:

Sorry to see you had such a rough time of it last week. You just have to remember that people do it to themselves.

Shoulder pads and hairy bahookies - GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:
