Gave Garden Grill A Second Chance-OOPS

That really was a great review! I had planned on going to GG to celebrate my DD's 16th birthday...after hearing so many bad reviews I cancelled and I certainly don't regret it. I can't imagine that Disney could get away with this for too long. The amount of bad reviews are unbelievable...I have yet to see one good review. wow.....

Wish I had read reviews like this before I ventured back there. I blindly made reservations on my trip last week and was thrilled that I had no problem getting in right away. Then I ate there and knew why. I applaud the original review on this thread. I couldn't have said it better myself. Just wish I read it in time. I too left hungry and poor and got no satisfaction when I told the manager. He had the nerve to tell me that most people he spoke to really enjoy the new menu. I guess he only speaks to the idiots who made the changes inthe first place. They are NOT listening. Only a full fledged boycott will have any effect. I intend to do just that.

I agree. I canceled my reservation based on the op's review. The only thing is, is that not everyone is lucky enough to know all the info we have on the DIS. Unfortunately, the restaurant will probably do well due to the many vacationers that will just go there the one time. It's not like a bad restaurant in your hometown that if nobody goes to, will just close after a short time. Disney has so many one time visitors, or first time visitors, that they probably can get by for quite a while with a bad restaurant. I'm glad that I'm informed (thanks to my fellow Disers), so that I won't be one of the people sucked into losing my hard earned money!

I wish I'd checked here before we stopped at GG for lunch. What a huge disappointment! We'd been there several times and had some of the best Disney food ever over Thanksgiving week in '03. The 3 words that best describe the new GG "are as follows, and I quote: Stink, Stank, Stunk!" (think Grinch).

Because they were charging my 11 yr. old as an adult, we told him to order from the adult menu. Even with characters, I'm not paying $20 for a bowl of mac & cheese, which is, of course, what he wanted to eat. I really feel that when you're ordering from a menu the price in that situation should be based on which entree is ordered, just like it is in every other Epcot sit-down.

We used to love GG for birthdays, but no more! They don't come sing, because some guests complained. The waitress said our daughter was going to get a special dessert, but she didn't. Talk about underwhelming for a 7 yr. old's birthday. I think we were more disappointed than she was. No wonder we were able to walk right in during peak season lunchtime with no ressie! NEVER again! If you have a ressie, don't waste your time or money here. Cancel! Cancel! Cancel!

This is a edited reply I just got back from Disney when I e-mailed them about the Garden Grill. Maybe if enough of us let Disney know, they will do something about it..smjj

I have my doubts about Disney listening to complaints. I ate at GG the day after its new format. Absolutely hated it and complained bot only to the manager but wrote a letter to Guest relations.

Here it is months, and probably thousands of complaints, later and NOTHING has changed. From what I read in the most recent posts, not even the smallest attempt to correct the horrible situation.

I believe that Disney has given up Garden Grill to become a passing through restaurant catching the walkers on their way to Soarin'. They just don't care to have it back as an established and sought after place to eat.

There are enough fresh blood walk ins on a daily basis to keep them going and justify their total lack of intelligence about the way they changed this place.

Walk ins will have no problem getting a seat since all the regulars will be boycotting. Used to be without reservations a few days in advance, you didn't have a chance to get in. The new menu and format has changed all that.

There's a sucker born every minute.

That letter is the Typical Disney form letter I have read on this board, verbatum, for years!

FYI: The waitstaff wanted the bus staff gone so as not to share tips. So, IMHO, if they are MIA because they are busing tables tip accordingly.

This is a heartbreak to hear and a complete rip off !!

GC now is topping fulton's and SciFi as WDW worst restaurant.....

Anyone know who is in charge of WDW dinning. We should print this thread and snail mail......

In my e-mail to them, I did include a comment about this review and twice ask them to read it. But as you stated and I aggree, its a form letter and nothing will change and that in itsself is a bigger problem...smjj

I didn't enjoy the food on the original menu either, so I defintely will not be scheduling any meals at GG now. I remember when I was there a couple of years ago, I thought the same thing about Chip N Dale's costumes being not very clean.

Wow! Thanks for your review. This was DH's favorite restaurant and I made ADR's for our October trip. ADR's that I am now on hold with dining to cancel.
He'll be bummed but better bummed remembering the old GG than have the memories tainted by the new version.

Our experience was not unique, so I will send an email to customer relations as well.

As for the fresh meat, I will make it my life's mission, to tell at least 5 families not to eat at GG if they value their money and time whenever I ride Soarin'
:goodvibes

Whether they appreciate it or not! :rotfl:

No offense ice mom SciFi is one of our favs :wave2: . It just regularly gets a wooping on the Dis.

IMHO, its another way WDW is increasing their bottom line from dinning and it bothers me...make me feel like a sucker. I know then don't go blah, blah blah...

Changes for the worse.IMHO, have been happening at dinning over the past few years.

and let not even start on that crap they call coffee..... :guilty: ....

I am so sad and disappointed about the ruining of Garden Grill, but I have to say I just read some of the funniest lines ever on the DIS! :rotfl:

From the "airline food" theme comments to visions of Chip & Dale scraping the lousy food into the trash, and "number cruncher" decor suggestions, I am laughing so hard I am crying.

Wow...what a review! I am sorry you has such a terrible time, but your post was so funny... I am cracking up picturing Chip and Dale scraping plates.

I will definitely be avoiding GG and telling all others to do so as well. When you think about it, the decline in quality is truly outrageous. Yet the prices keep going up!

I won't mourn Eisner's leaving, that's for sure.

Hmmm...I just posted about child's pricing because DH is insisting it CAN'T be THAT bad, but maybe I'll tell him I couldn't get an ADR instead. He won't call back to find out, and I won't have to eat there.

For the same reason we wait 90 minutes for a 2 minute ride, pay $2.00 for fifty cents worth of water and stand in the sun for a half hour waiting for a five minute bus ride. When you check into Disney, you check out of your common sense. That's what they count on.

our favorite family line while at disn ey is "that's not baddd" as we knowingly spend 2 x what we spend at home for the same thing yet we go again and again....... crazy i guess.

"I won't mourn Eisner's leaving, that's for sure." but then who will we blame???? :confused3

Thank you for all your postings everyone! I had made reservations for this place and looked forward to the only character meal that was listed as "very quiet" in the the Unofficial Guide. I will now cancel and book something else for lunch in Epcot. Any recommendations for an active 4 year old boy? Thanks!

Believe what you hear, it really is THAT bad. Do whatever you have to but don't waste your money. You'll only regret it as much as I did! Go to Germany or Norway instead. A lot more value, variety and very nice atmosphere. You won't leave hungry.
