Gave Garden Grill A Second Chance-OOPS

I always wondered where all those airline food chefs went once they stopped serving meals in flights. Now I kow, they're alive and well and working at garden Grill planning and cooking menus. The only thing missing are the plastic utensils.
You made my morning - but now I have to clean my coffee off the computer screen! :rotfl:

Thank you! We loved the GG last time and even after hearing other bad review I was having a hard time not including it on our list. Your review has helped me to realize this is not a place for our 3 boys to enjoy. Maybe it will change back before Nov.

Sorry you had such a bad experience! That is gross that Dale's costume was dirty and no bus staff! Too bad the health department wasn't doing an inspection that day!

I think Wishing 123 is on to something. Soarin is already in the pavillion, why not turn Garden Grill into an airplane themed restaurant. The food is already airplane quality and quantity, the resturant moves over the scenery, the wait staff is as attentive as the flight crew (without the call buttons) - just add the plastic utensils and a new restaurant is born. They're 90% there, go all the way!

Boy or boy am I glad I read this review. We were all set to eat there our next trip in Nov. We almost ate there this last May but were just so much in a hurry at the time. Like others here I remember the Garden Grill fondly and was always one of our favorites. I just can't understand why they would take it and do this to it. It was always packed when we went. Surely some one at EPCOT has heard the many complaints from guests or see the decrease in business and do something but don't count on it. They probably have so many people pass by on their ways to Soarin that have never been there before, they feel like they can get away with it. I have read that Disney reads boards like this all the time. Maybe someone will read this post and a light bulb will come on. We can only hope...smjj

Add my voice to this growing chorus of people who refused to believe all the bad hype and gave Garden Grill a second chance after its reopeneing. My wife and two boys left the place hungry and a lot poorer. Our experience actually ruined out evening.

GG had always been one of our favorite places and we went there at least once per visit.

Our last visit will truly be our last visit unless they return to the old format and menu. This place has become really bad.

Didn't care for the GG last fall so I am sure that we will really dislike it now. Thanks for the reviews.

It used to be a nice country style meal - now it's a third world country style meal.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible time but your review was freakin' hilarious. The thought of Chip and Dale in the back scraping plates was :rotfl:

Thats it. I am changing my ressies. I find it amazing the overwhelming negative reviews. Some are to be expected but I have yet to read one that even makes it tolerable.

Now the dilema of where to eat on our Epcot day - either in Epcot or at one of the resorts for dinner.

I am kind of bummed, not only for the fact that this was once a great restaurant but also because my ds will be turning 9 the day before and this was going to be his celebration lunch with characters and cake.

I thought of doing Chef Mickeys for dinner but we will be there the next morning for bfast so that might be a little much. sigh

If anyone has any suggestions I would really really appreciate it

I have to say I enjoyed our meal at GG much more so than at Rose & Crown. Now that one will take some time for me to return to R&C, if I do. And most likely if I do it will be by accident or not my choice.

pirate: I too now have the dilema of where to eat. I've seen many poor reviews about the dinner at CM.

Given the choice of CM or GG, I'd go with CM anytime now that GG has gone down the tubes. Just remember to avoid the early rush. If you get there at 7:00 instead of 5:30, your experience will be much better. At least at CM you have some decent choices, at GG all your choices are bad.

I just returned from Disney last night and have been cruising the boards trying to ease re-entry into the real world. This posting caught my eye because eating at Garden Grill was one of the low points of my whole trip.

I also use to go there all the time so was very disappointed with the changes. Even with an open mind and no comparison, the food at Garden Grill just isn't worth the price. It's as bad as most of the postings say.

And, yes, the wait staff was MIA and not at all happy campers. I couldn't wait to get out of there and felt very ripped off (and hungry) when I left.

Avoid this place at all cost. I won't be going back there any time soon.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and support. I've been reading another posting on this board about the same subject and sure enough, everyone over there is in agreement. Now if only Disney would listen, it's obvious that the complaints go beyond those of comparison. Even on its own merit, GG seems finished with all except the unknowing first timers innocently wandering down to Soarin.

I just canceled my lunch reservations there. Opted to go with Mexico instead.

Thank you everyone for posting your honest opinions. It's a shame because we liked it before and the new menu sounds good on paper.

I have yet to hear one good thing about GG now as we loved it before and haven't even wanted to try it after checking out the new menu.

It is quite a disappointment and something guest relations really needs to know about. Those who have had a bad experience here NEED to contact guest relations and let them know.

You can even email them-they need to know PLUS it can't hurt for those guests who have had these bad experiences to fill them in on their "personal" experiences with the recent GG as you just may get a "makegood" from them for your next trip (we had a similar experience at PSB and when I "nicely" complained to guest services via email-they contacted me by phone to get details and sent $30 in Disney Dollar which I thought was a very FAIR gesture).

I believe you can contact them at the following:
WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com
or by phone at 407-828-1750 (guest relations)

These were contacts I used a few years back so not sure if they are accurate. GOOD LUCK!!

My sister and her family left yesterday. A week ago she finally gave me her list of ADRs for checking (she had done them via Disney Dining without asking first) and what did I see but GG as her Epcot choice. She said that Dining had highly recommended the experience for the food and the character interaction. (:rotfl: after reading the latest from this post). I am so glad that I convinced her to change to Le Cellier, even without the characters. Can't wait for her review.

Of course, she remembered that both my brother and I had done GG in past and liked it. I had to admit that I would have recommended it if not for this post and another.
