I am planning to gate check a booster seat that does not have a back. Does it need to be in a bag, or can I just put a luggage tag on the seat itself?

Thanks!

We fly Allegiant and have never put either our car seat or booster in a bag. It has always been fine for us!
Enjoy your trip!

You don't have to have it is a bag. If you check it with baggage it is better to keep it from getting wet or dirty. I always checked it with baggage so I didn't have to lug it thru the airport.

There is a difference between checking and gate checking. I am going to assume your child is over 2 yrs old since you are using a backless booster and hence would have a seat. If you want to check it just do so.

I personally would put it inside a large heavy duty clear plastic bag just to avoid any wear, tear, rain, spills, etc.

If you don't plan on using it on the plane I would just check it with the rest of the bags rather than hauling it down to the gate to check it plane side (aka gate check.)

We always use our carseat bag. It's a great bag (bought from walmart). Often luggage sits out on the tarmac and if it's raining, it will get wet. I can't image your child sitting on a wet booster. We like our bag because we throw other stuff in it when we check it. It holds both the carseat and the backless booster. We throw the buckets and shovels in it and our mugs. Sometimes we throw our coats and jackets in it. We paid $20 for the bag and have used it at least 10 times now. If you don't want to buy a bag, you can just use a extra large trashbag. If you don't travel alot like us, I would stick with a trash bag. We have a 4yo, 2yo, and 3 month granddaughters and we take them to WDW at least 3 trips a year now, so we fly alot.

I recommend a bag. The first time I travelled with a booster I used a bag and by the time we got home(4 legs) the bag was ripped. I was really glad it was the bag and not the car seat. The bag was also easier to carry with it's handles. I also was able to pack all my souviniers in the car seat bag too. O another flight my dd threw up on the way to the airport so I was really glad to have something to cover the nasty seat with- I could only clean so much with baby wipes in the airport parking lot.
