Day 1 - November 11, 2000

After being up last night until 1 a.m. packing I didn't think I would want to get up that morning at 5:00 a.m., but of course, we are going to DisneyWorld!! I hopped out of bed to shower and get ready, then pulled Gary out of my bed as well. We run around looking to make sure we didn't miss anything in our 1 am packing and apparantly we didn't. My sister in law has generously offered to drive us to the airport so we didn't have to leave our car there and she is also taking care of our little kitties. She shows up around 6:15 or so with my mother in law and a nephew for good measure. We pile everythingin the van and we are on our way. We get to the airport around 7:45ish and check in for our 9 am flight. Grab something to eat and then head over to the gate. By now, Amy is feeling pretty pretty sick. See I HATE flying. My stomach is tipping around and I am generally ready to cry. We get on the plane, we take off with me muttering under my breath how much I hate this and we are up in the sky. (shudder) Gary and I played Gin the whole way there and I must say that it did make the time go really fast. We land in Orlando around 12ish and head over to Mears after getting our luggage. After a short wait (wow, lucky!!) we are on our way to Carribean Beach. Yippee!! Well we walk in and wow, the line for checkin is REALLY long. About 45 minutes later we get to the front and get checked in my this very softspoken man. I couldn't hear a word he was saying!! Good thing I know how the cards worked, etc... We get assigned a room in Jamaica, which was not what I had requested, but oh well and then get delivered to our room with our luggage. We walk in and oh goodness.. I had requested a King size bed for the two of us and got two doubles instead. Okay, well I am 2 for 2, but since I didn't mention anything at check in, kind of my own fault. Everything else about the room is great. It was much bigger than our room at Dixie Landings last year and was bright and cheerful. It was on a corner so we had two windows and it was great. We have dinner ps's for Fultons for 8 p.m. and it is only about 2:30ish so we unpack, grab the camera and head out around the promendade for a little walk. We walked all the way around the resort, including stopping for lunch at OPR and just had a nice time. Around 5 or so we headed out for Downtown Disney. Walked around, peeked into my favorite stores and looked at some of the art exhibits. I guess we showed up there during the Art of the Masters or something. Grabbed a Pina Colada from the Margarita stand and danced to Ricky Martin music.. (god, how embaressing!! LOL) By now it is like 7 and we decide to see if we can check in early for our dinner since I am starting to feel our early morning. We have a fabulous dinner at Fultons..

Amy - King Crab Claws with roasted potatoes.
Gary - Crab Cake for app. and Salmon for his dinner.
Total bill, around 90.00 without tip.

We both decide to skip dessert and head back to our room. By around 10 I am cozy in my bed with dreams of Magic Kingdom in my head. Gary on the other hand is watching TV. He didn't sleep very well for the whole trip. SAid the beds were to hard.. LOL

Tommorow: Magic Kingdom and dinner at Cindy's.. (where the heck is our waitress???)

They really should come up with something for those of us who are not fond of flying! ;) I'm glad your flight went good and the rest of the day was magical. Thanks for posting :D

I understand the flying thing more than you know. Sounds like maybe playing cards help get your through and may prompt me to bring a deck with me on my next flight... Sometimes the airlines offer a Fear of Flying Course, you may want to check on that...
