I remember the wood burning kits, basically an electric soldering iron with a wider tip, you would trace the printed picture of the pieces of soft wood to make a scene.
you could buy extra pieces of wood with the pictures for very cheap..of course, we just got some pieces of scrap wood and burned our own designs in them.
wonder what genius thought up the "firestarte beginners kit" hehehehehehe
also, we all had BB guns. (daisy was the best!, then crossman)
and the bow and arrow sets. of course you had to take the suction cups off the arrows so they would go farther, and that was before they even thought of eye protection!
I also remember that you could get a flintlock pistol (Davy Crockett was big on t.v.) that used a single cap, but the plate had a small hole in it that allowed the cap to propel a plastic "bullet" out of the gun.
ahhh...good times (not everyone lost an eye!)
I also just remembered, Mattel actually had a repeating rifle that used a roll of caps, and had a bullet that consisted of a plastic bullet, and a spring loaded shell, when you chambered the bullet, the cap would jar the clips holding the plastic part and you could actually "shoot" the bullet, then operating the level and eject the "brass" and chamber another round. they had a regular size winchester type, and a special one from the T.V. show "the rifleman"
VERY close to how a real gun worked!
