Hello all, glad I found this group, it’s a great resource! We are very interested in the CFW (family of 6 under the same roof for low points). I know there is limited data points but I’m wondering any real world experience booking the cabins at 7 months in June and July? I’m a teacher so that’s the time our crew is traveling. We want to add 150 direct to go with our SSR and CCV resale but aren’t sure if buying say Poly or AKV would allow us to safely get the Cabins in the summer. Just looking for some thoughts from the seasoned veterans in this board. Thanks!

I wouldn't buy AKV direct.

7 month availability at the Cabins is scarce, nothing is impossible, but I wouldn't buy expecting to be able to book the Cabins at 7 months. It also depends on how flexible you are like how many days can you book 60 days out etc..

Here is a new thread to look at. Maybe the OP has experience looking at June/July at the cabins

I am a big believer in buying at the resort you want to stay at if you have one.

DVC is too expensive to have to rely on non home resort window.

DVC can adjust the booking windows, as long as they give owners a one month advantage over non owners.

It seems that the cabins have been pretty popular at 7 months so while nothing is impossible, it could prove difficult as time goes on.

And, if they decide to combine LSL and the CFW as part of the same RTU plan…and we have no idea if it will happen but I personally never rule anything out until DVD actually does…thst could impact how easy or hard they are to get.

If it were me and I wanted the cabins for regular use, then that is where I would buy my points.

But, if it’s more that most it would be nice but no big deal if we can’t get them, then it can make sense to buy elsewhere.

June/July are some of the least desirable months to travel in DVC and the availability matches that. I actually think you'll be able to 7 month into it with direct points and avoid having to pay their high dues. I would hold off on buying though at least until we figure if LSL will be rolled into CFW. After that that very well may lower the dues to a reasonable amount.

Still though, a family of 6 in a cabin with 1 bathroom sounds like a nice way for brawls to break out, I wouldn't stay there with a family your size or recommend purchasing there until at least LSL can offer more room types IF it's added to CFW.

I agree about waiting to see what LSL will offer. I keep forgetting about it.
I wonder about that too, I also wonder if it is included with the cabins will incentive go away and maybe pricing goes up. It the big unknown and adds to my dilemma lol

I think you’ll usually be fine booking for June or July at 7 months. With those dues I’d personally buy elsewhere and risk it. As for the 6 people/1 bathroom thing, you know your family best as to how that would work. We do 5 people in a studio with 1 bathroom occasionally and it’s fine.

I don’t think we will know for a few years how availability will be. Too few cabins are declared and the LSL could change everything if it’s the same contract.

That said we are direct owners at GFV. We tend to move around as we hope to try every resort at some point. We stayed at FWC for a week the week of July 4. I logged on right at 7am and had no issues getting our nights. I was shocked as I thought it would be tough to get. I noticed it took a few days before single nights started disappearing.

I do think they will be popular at 7 months for fall, other times will be hit or miss. I’m sure July 4th week will start getting harder as time goes on. I happened to be sitting on the porch at Crocketts tavern and overhead a fellow VGF owner tell the guy at the window that they typically stay at GF, but will be trying to stay at CFW from now on.

Good stuff, thanks for the data point!
