This pay to play is going to get bigger and bigger real soon.
I know DS wants the new soon to be released StarWars Galaxies game for the computer that will require a monthly fee (I'll probably do this one only for him because he is such a starwars nut). The sims online that is due out soon will also require a fee to play online. The playstation 2 has games slated to arrive soon that are fee based and i guess the gamecube has joined the bandwagon. The Xbox has a broadband modem built in already whereas the other 2 major systems dont. The Xbox also has made a smart move with this fee based thing, they are going to charge a $49.95 yearly fee to access all of their online games, im sure you still have to buy the game itself, but to me, it will be a much better deal than the other ones. I cant imagine paying monthly for several games, i have enough monthly bills already.
This is the info from nintendo.com's site about that gamecube game.
