Was sad to see this...
"A Special Disney Collection Exchange Opportunity
Because this is a Disney Collection Exchange opportunity, at least one person must be booked on points."

Don't think my 100 direct points will get me 15 minutes in the Starcruiser. I'll just have to wait for it to open up to everyone I suppose.

I know...I was disappointed to see this too. I think there will be many disappointed DVC member who call to book on Thursday just to find out they have to use points to book early. They didn't make that clear to members, at least not in the email I received on Thursday.

Where are you seeing this?

It's on the DVC page about the opportunity.

The points charts will be released that morning. But given the released costs of the booking - Disney said that cash prices begin at $4809 for a couple, $5922 for party of two adults and one child and $5999 for three adults and one child. For mid-week, low season bookings, so I'm certain it goes up from there like a Black Diamond ski run.

It would be unusual for the cost in points to represent either good value for the dues paid, or to be a discount on cash pricing.

I would rather book an evening at the new Circ show starting in November for $85. I find these shows very enjoyable.

So glad I saw this now. My husband wanted me to book it for us. I'm pretty sure I don't have near enough points. At least this way I can let him know now so he won't be disappointed the day of.

If they value points at $8, it would be around 600 points minimum for a couple, at the lowest rate, so midweek in September, and going up from there.

Only one person has to be booked on points, but that's still 300 points for a low-season, midweek, two-night stay.

That’s just a ton of points to tie up on something that could turn out to be underwhelming (or overwhelming in a negative way). It’s such a radical concept for Disney and dramatic departure from what they’ve done in the past that I’d like to hear back from a few people first. I think there will be a few bugs to work out too.

I’d be happier making a cash reservation that I could get out of for less damage if it proves to be a turd.

300 points and still $2400 cash. The only advantage of using points being able to book earlier.Given the prices I doubt it'll sell out in second, but I might underestimate demand, which at least at the beginning might be very high. Perhaps there'll be a rush for the opening week(s).
To me, as with all such exchanges, it seems a waste of points.

I'll watch the re-runs on YT. Too rich for my blood, points-wise and dollar-wise.

I would not be shocked to hear that Disney does not allow video while on the ship or in areas where the acting is going on. They already restrict video in various areas like DCL theatres.

I have to say if I was spending $5k and some vlogger is all over the place I would be fairly annoyed. That being said there likely will be reviews and photos of what is occurring though.

"You're telling me I can't film my son's space trip to Star Wars? After I spent $8000 for the three of us?!?"

I doubt that dog's gonna hunt. This isn't a theater. It's an interactive experience where you are part of the performance. After all, probably over a hundred people are going to know what it's all about in 2-3 months anyway (Counting CMs.). :D

Agree. People are going to want pictures of themselves doing the lightsaber training, or on the bridge. I don't see any way that Disney could stop it if they tried, and trying would anger and frustrate a lot of people.

1) You likely would be able to take a picture or a 5 second video, what I am talking about is people filming for long periods of time
2) They will likely have video and photographs built in to the experience and tied to your MDE (possibly included or for a premium)

They can easily stop it since they can come up with some story element where video recording throws the instruments out of wack. If characters see you using the phone for video they can say something about it.

People know what movies, plays, and improv are about and video recordings are limited there as well. Beyond the concept you might lose a couple customers since they only watch the youtube video you also have the issue of ruining the primary experience for others of the immersive aspect of your time on the ship.

We will see as things get closer or the first group goes on the experience if video recording is allowed or not.

I mean, if I paid $5k for a premium LARP and half the guests wanted just to film me LARPing and narrate it for YouTube I would pitch an out of universe FIT.

Back to topic... I see that DVC members have to call the DVC membership line instead of the AP phone number. Does this mean that DVC members *MUST* use points to book during the opening phase, or simply one must be eligible to choose to use points or use cash?
