Gabby Petito

I think he killed himself and that he's the one who strangled Gabby.

Of course he's the one who strangled her an innocent person wouldn't hide for almost a month. His parents could have had their son still alive if they did the right thing and called the police when Gabby first went missing.

If so, then they will live with a lot of guilt. He would likely still be alive if he had turned himself in early on instead of them helping him run.
They may not feel any guilt. I mean, it could have been his parents who said, try to escape, but whatever happens, don’t let them capture you alive. Who knows.

It is poor form to describe anyone who takes their own life as a coward. Suicide is not an easy option and it’s often extremely painful.

He killed his girlfriend and went into hiding. He could have done the right thing and come forward. He took the easy way out and most likely left a family never really knowing what happened to their daughter. He’s worse than a coward.

Prosecutor, judge and jury? Maybe they made a suicide pact. We just don’t know. Perhaps take a moment and find some empathy for those on this forum who have lost people to suicide.

How do we know he hasn’t been dead this whole time and under water? I assumed he killed himself the day he went for a hike.

I tend to shy away from using coward and suicide in the same sentence for a variety of reasons though honestly I'm not sure if the PP was calling Brian a coward or the act of not leaving a note meant he was a coward. That said I wouldn't even put coward in this situation probably because of my hesitance to use that in the same conversation as someone who in theory (because the details aren't known yet) killed themselves.

However I'd say it was cruel to not disclose what happened but I've thought that from the beginning, the idea that of not knowing is awful, alive or dead, a person withholding details if they know them is cruel.

He met up with the parents and they got him a lawyer on his way back. He was still around when Gabby was reported missing, if the patents cooperated with law enforcement chances are he'd be in their custody alive and not possibly dead in a swamp.

Do we know if a storm or something uncovered the remains? I'm not familiar with the area to know if it's just a spot that a storm or I guess drought that caused water to recede caused what would was originally underwater to no longer be.

This is a thread about Gabby Petito, it is not a thread about suicide. My comments were about Brian, if you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.
And as far as assumptions, my BIL committed suicide 3 years ago. I am one of those people on this forum.

In the TV news segment posted in 1 of the replies above, the local Florida reporters were speculating that something was found because the area has had a relatively dry month in terms of rain, resulting in the level of swamp waters in that area going down enough in order for something to be found & uncovered.

In other words, whatever they found was likely underwater this whole time.

It's being reported they have found 'partial' human remains, among other things. They have also made the area a 'no fly zone' now, so it's something significant. We'll know more soon I guess.

Thank you for that info

I read an earlier story that the area he was at was extremely dangerous and would be unlikely to survive. Lions and tiger and bears oh my

In South Florida, including that area, we have two seasons.

Wet season runs from roughly mid-May until mid-October. I'm not sure what the annual rainfall is over on the West Coast, but here in Miami we get 60+ inches per year, and we get 80% of that during that wet season. During wet season, low-lying wetlands flood and stay flooded until the rains stop.

Dry season began a little early this year and waters have been receding for several weeks. Water levels typically drop 3 feet or so, depending on the topography.

That’s what I thought, this area is two hours south of us and it hasn’t rained in a while so why it’s just being found now is beyond me.

Way too soon to say the partial remains are him. Human remains of a missing person was found near Gabby as well.

If it’s him, it’s closure for all. Not the closure majority want. Yet it’s done. Wonder if the new discovery made Dog go back to CO that was announced today.
