Gabby Petito

This is a thread about Gabby Petito, it is not a thread about suicide. My comments were about Brian, if you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.
And as far as assumptions, my BIL committed suicide 3 years ago. I am one of those people on this forum.
I am sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss.

And I am sorry for yours.

All I can say is that I don't consider BL anything like my BIL who had been suffering from PTSD for years.
If BL took his own life (I feel) it was because he couldn't face the consequences of what he did to Gabby and he saw that as his only way to not have too. I don't believe for a minute it was because he was suffering with depression and PTSD for years and years and went through many trials of treatment to no avail like many people who commit suicide do.
IMO it's just not the same.

FBI prepared statement no questions from press. Human remains are along with Brian Laundrie's items. It will be a few days for a positive ID of remains.

Human remains found in the area where they also found a backpack and notebook belonging to Brian Laundrie. No ID announced. No questions taken, all questions referred to the Denver FBI office.

Sounds to me like it's Brian.

This is probably why law enforcement took something like a hairbrush of his (or something like that) out of his parents' home recently, if memory serves me correctly. They're going to try to do a DNA match. It'll only be a matter of time before we all know for sure.

Prosecutor, judge and jury? Maybe they made a suicide pact. We just don’t know. Perhaps take a moment and find some empathy for those on this forum who have lost people to suicide.
I have lost two family members to suicide (both my age when we were in our 20s) and I don’t take any offense to what was said. There is context in this situation for the word choice. You may not like it and that’s completely your right, but please don’t speak for all of us.

I am sorry for your loss. I apologise if I have upset you or that you felt that I was speaking in your behalf. I was merely expressing a personal opinion. Suicide in any of its many guises is an emotional topic.

Depending on the condition of the remains, they would compare DNA from the remains with DNA from his parents -- assuming they are his biological father and mother.

Hair strands (without the root) contain only mitochondrial DNA, which is not as definitive as regular DNA.

A simple mouth swab from the parents would be much better, and I'd be amazed and disappointed if the FBI didn't already have mouth swabs from the parents.

I would say that maybe he killed himself out of guilt from what he had done to someone he loved, but that doesn't seem so likely given the timeline in this case. Coming back without her and then going camping with his parents - only fleeing when the police came asking questions. It's also possible that he did not kill himself and died out there from any number of things - wildlife, the elements, etc.

I'm glad to see that maybe some closure is around the corner for Gabby's family, although not fully since they may never know the full story of what happened. He may have told his parents, but they sure haven't shown themselves to be the types of people to care about giving her family closure. They had to have known where he was this entire time to only just now tell police they wanted to go search this specific area. I hope they are charged with obstruction as someone else mentioned.

Does it bother anyone else the police were on brains side he seemed fine gabby was a mess they did not even consider helping her can they be held responsible in any way

Many people are sad Gabby is gone. We don't know the whole story, and it's hard to be patient. I think law enforcement is working very hard. I hope one day we will know much more about what happened.

I’m not sure why people would assume all of these things (remains, items) have been under water. I think it’s more likely that he’s been alive all this time and came back to this area after the water receded. There wouldn’t be much to find of a notebook (one of the items found) if it had been under water for a month. It looked like one of the items might have been a waterproof bag (if that was something that was found and not something used for collection) but even that wouldn’t stay dry for long. I mean I suppose it’s possible, but it’s also awfully fishy that the parents suddenly wanted to search this particular area. I mean they had dive teams earlier, so why not tell them about this place at that time?

About my earlier comment about not leaving a note being cowardly - yes, I was referring to the act of not leaving any closure or admitting guilt as being cowardly, although cruel is also a good word for it. However, I also agree with those who say that if he killed himself it is NOT the same as someone who suffers from depression committing suicide. Good grief, everything he’s done has been cowardly. Abused a woman, killed a woman, hid out with mommy and daddy, struck out alone to avoid jail... all COWARDLY.

I think the only thing we kind of know at this point is that he killed his fiancé, we don’t know that he abused her, don’t know that he hid out with his parents, don’t know if he went into hiding. It sounds like the remains are not in good condition, I suspect he’s been dead for at least a month.

Yes we know that he hid out with his parents - he went there after killing Gabby and stayed until the police seemed to be tightening the net. We know he went into hiding because he then “disappeared” yet his parents apparently knew exactly where to find him. I think if he’d been dead all this time, they would have told the police earlier. The only think that’s more blurry is whether or not he was abusive. Given Gabby’s reaction in the police video and at the restaurant just before her death, and the fact that she was strangled (people don’t usually kill others by strangulation the first time - they’ve usually throttled someone before but not to the point of death) all point to that conclusion.

Especially since it is supposedly close to where his car was.

IMHO….Another fumble? … it was under water…
didnt the parents just travel to a Verizon or some type of Phone store? Perhaps didn’t hear from him and thus the search?? Regardless… unless he Confessed in the notebook they found ( which I doubt.. my guess is he’ll show guilt for leaving here, (as in alive..)
They have basically nothing on him, but circumstantial at best… her date of death is over several days, not even pinned down despite bug experts, autopsy and all those specialists. .

Its one big tragedy that Could have and Should have been averted… in an alleged bad relationship, away from her family with little contact, appears all too little too late.
Both sets of parents lost their ..child.. just TRAGIC.
RIP
And there are Others… innocent CHILDREN that are missing across this country, Right Now.. time to use all these human Resources and Money on others now.
I truly “ feel” for those families and hope they too garner the Attention to find their loved ones. :(
