Yay!!!

They must like July 2nd. From last year, July 2nd, 2012:

Southwest to offer live TV on select planes

Southwest Airlines will offer live TV for purchase on a select number of flights, the airline announced today.

Travelers on five Southwest aircraft will have the option of paying for seven sports and news channels. They will have to have personal Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as tablets, laptops and smartphone to access the channels.

AP: Southwest Airlines to sell live TV on some flights

Southwest has contracted with Row 44 to provide the service, which will expand to 20 aircraft by mid-July.

Flight attendants will let fliers know if the TV option is available. Fliers can then pay between $3 to $8 to log onto the service through a link on the Southwest Airlines Wi-Fi portal. Live TV will be offered as a charge separate from the regular Wi-Fi service, so customers don't have to pay for Wi-Fi to buy the Live TV.

"We are excited to give our customers new options for inflight entertainment," Dave Ridley, Southwest chief marketing officer and senior vice president of marketing and revenue management. "We believe our customers will enjoy the opportunity to access live TV, in addition to W-iFi, using their personal devices, and we look forward to their feedback on the product."

The seven live TV channels Southwest will offer are: NBC Sports, MLB live games from MLB.com, NFL Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News, and Fox Business News.

Southwest will monitor the TV and Wi-Fi usage. If it is successful, live TV will be made available to all Wi-Fi enabled planes by the end of the year.

Southwest already has more than 250 Wi-Fi-equipped planes and plans to offer Wi-Fi to 70% of its total fleet by mid-2013.

We were on a flight today and tried to use this. There were only a hand full of channels and none of them were kid channels. My ds5 ended up playing mine craft instead.
