Furnace broken at library

How would you go dressed to work for 7 hours if there was no heat? Furnace has been broken since Sun morn and there has been no work done on it today.

Pants
Tshirt
turtle neck
sweater
fleece

gloves if you can work in them.

I don't think they can make you work in a building with no heat in this wheather. It is against the law.

My thoughts exactly..............They can't make you work uder those conditions.....

I would just tell them to call me when the heat is fixed

Ditto for me.. Unless they were going to provide some safe alternatives - such as electric space heaters - I'm afraid I would have to tell them that I wouldn't be coming in..

And I also think there may be something to that theory that it's against the law to make you work under those conditions - especially with the temps we've been having lately..

He didn't have heat at work this AM (48 degrees inside)...but we didn't know till we got there. We had 3 space heaters going (57 degrees by lunch). Boss said if the plumbers couldn't get pipes repaired & thawed out we could go home if we wanted.

Being busy kept us running around & kept us warm. We did have running water in one bathroom. If we didn't have the bathroom, I'm sure we would have had to close by law.

I'm also sure if we KNEW going in that we didn't have heat... then we wouldn't have opened.

I think he figured we all drove in over 20 miles to get there.... lets try to fix the situation soon before everyone turns around and goes home for the day.

I agree with LAYERS of clothing if you still need to go in. It was my thighs & hands that were the coldest.

this post reminds me of my younger days when my dad would dress for work at the library! Only he was driving the bookmobile here in Quincy! he was a librarian for some 35 plus yrs!

He would wear his tshirt ,shirt, flannel shirt, sweater and then jacket and bottom half would be the long johns and pants, socks and his heavy shoes!

He had heat but couldn't run the power plant to operate with out draining battery so he just went with out! but if it was extrmely cold he didn't go out on the rode !

i do know that when the library had heating problems. Most of the time the library would close especially if it was really cold!!

I would think the town would want the Libraries furnace to be fixed ASAP. In this cold the pipes could freeze burst and ruin a lot of equipment and books.

Yeah - just received email from boss. The heat is back on. Taking sweatshirt/gloves/boots in case it goes back off.
