Funniest Ride BreakDown Stories

Once we (Mom and I) got stuck on Spaceship Earth. It was in the Caveman Room, and we were stuck listening to, "ahh-eee-ooo-ahh-ahh-eee-ooo-ahh" for about 20 minutes. I had a laughing attack during this period of time (poor Mom!), because listening to this over and over can really make a person lose it. We got "unstuck", and were going smoothly, until the part when you go backwards. Sure enough, another 10 minutes of our lives. You could hear people go, "Aw, darn!" or "Not again!" or even "At least it's not the stupid caveman!" (wait, maybe that was me...) Luckily, we continued the ride safely, and had quite a story to tell Dad and my brother.
Another time we were on IASW, and got stuck around Mexico. Now, I'm Spanish, so this was cool, but a bit strange. My cousin was with me, and threatned to jump off the boat. (Once again, another laugh attack). Well, it was educational, yet mostly annoying.

I get stuck in Peter Pan EVERY time above the indian village. Last time I got stuck I had 2 metal knee braces so I couldn't walk at all and they brought in firemen who carried me out!!! Yummy ones too ;) so I didn't mind too much!

Several years ago we were in the Great Movie Ride when it broke down. We were just being "hijacked" by the gangster and he was shooting the red light... it's supposed to turn green and then we move to the next scene... WELLLL... the green light never came on and we stopped moving. Our gangster did some adlibbing and after a few minutes his gangster "brothers" started coming up from a downstairs walkway in the scene to check out what was going on. They were a hoot! They all stayed in character and throwing lines out like.... yeah, the suits are all the same.. we got a great deal at "such and such" (can't remember WHERE they got them LOL). One yells down the stairway... Hey MA! Put more spaghetti on! We got company! Things like that. They were great! After a few minutes we started moving again and the extra gangsters disappeared down the stairway again. I have to say that I was impressed! I think I liked their fun adlibbing better than the rest of the ride. Something I won't forget! :goodvibes

Once a while back, we waited over and hour and a half (before fastpass was invented) for Splash Mountain. When we were almost at the front of the line, it broke down and they could not determine how long it would take for them to get it running again. He left the line, it was not funny.

Last year, my daughter got up the courage to go on Test Track ( she is afraid of dark tunnels and caves. Guess where we were when the ride broke down, in the dark tunnel for ten minutes. It took all of her courage to get onto the ride this year and now she loves it. A happy ending.

I was at Dinosaur and my party had just loaded into a Time Rover. The car then went forward and then stopped. The ride operators got all the people queueing out of the building, most I guess having to exit back into the preshow. All but us, already in our vehicle, for our seatbelts were fastened tightly and would not budge. The operators tried to push the vehicle back into place, but as you may imagine it was too heavy. They called for the technican and said technican fixed the belts. We got out and were given front of the line passes. One car was stuck in the "forest"!

In IOA, on the Ripsaw Falls, our log was stopped right before the drop. Someone in another log jumped out during the ride and caused a 101. Front line passes again. Maybe not humorous, but we also stopped several times in one ride in the Haunted Mansion-1. Ascending steps 2. Bride 3. Graveyard (AA just kept moving. Freaky without music)

We were on Dinosaur a few years ago. There was a family sharing our car. They had young girls with them.....I would say between 5 and 9. I warned the parents not to place the girls up front ALONE as this was a scarey ride. They would not listen. I just  and thought this was going to be bad. The ride got almost to the end and suddenly the ride stopped. We were in total darkness and all you could hear for about 20 minutes was loud dinosaur roars, wood cracking and those girls screaming for their lives. It was horrible. The parents could do nothing to calm them. When the ride ended, I just looked at my husband and announced as loud as i could "maybe next time I warn someone about a ride, they will listen!"

Not really funny but...we were on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority/ Wedway People Mover when it stopped. We waited a while and then eventually a CM came and had us exit the vechicle. We walked off and down a set of steps to get to solid ground, avoiding the rails as we went. It didn't help to have my mother along, she is afraid of heights. We were just outside of Space Mountain, I can imagine how neat it would have been to be inside.
(Incidentally, we also had to get out and walk down the plank style walkway at a water ride at Cedar Point one year too. Mom wasn't happy about that one either.)
Smiles,
Diane =0)

Lets see...we have been stuck on SpaceShip Earth....going backwards part and had to chill out for about 10 min.
:rotfl: I think that ride stops at least once a day!!!! LOL
We have been stopped at the HM, and SM.

Also, this is funny...not at WDW but at Universal, we got stopped on the ET adventure and we had to walk the tracks to get off. That ride was really neat with the lights on. I wish I would of had my camera!

And this made me sooooo mad...one woman who was walking, tripped and scraped up her knee, leg or whatever and was making a fuss about it.(it was a teeny scratch that we saw)..anyway..me and my hubby just went on and did more rides, didnt really pay anymore attention to that woman. So later that night, in our resort, we were watching the orlando news and LOW AND BEHOLD that lady was on there and OMG, she was making a big ol thing out of it, saying that her leg hurt and prevented her from enjoying the rest of the park for her vacation and was planning on SUING Universal!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, Universal gave her and her party a free day ticket and it was so amazing cause later that nite they showed her walking around and enjoying Universal!!!!!!!! CAN YA BELIEVE IT???? :confused3 :confused3

We broke down on the old Journey into Imagination ride & a couple cars ahead of us was a family of 4 - Mom, Dad & 2 kids. Well, the kids were just fine - but Mom & Dad were really losing it! They kept crying out "What if we're stuck here forever?!" After about 5 minutes of the parents panicking, the children started to cry - then the parents whipped them out of the vehicle & started walking down the track...

They did get back in a vehicle, right in front of us. Ack! Eventually the lights came on & they walked us out, thank God, because I thought those parents were about to explode. I'm sure the poor kids were traumatized for life - not by the break-down, but rather the parents reaction to it.

It wasn't haha funny, more like "What is wrong with these people" funny....The thing is, we were all excited about walking out & getting to see the attraction with the lights on. Wish they could have had their glass half full too......

Wow, that is strange. Can't imagine someone freaking out about something like that, but I guess there are many types of fears. You must have been speechless watching that!

This was when my now almost 18 year old DS was 10. We were in Carousel of Progress-and it stopped. I don't remember what the dialogue was when it stopped, but when it finally started going again it was in the middle of a word and the only thing that was heard when it started going again-nice and clear- was A$$. My DS-never missing a beat-said nice and loud-"Mom, he said A$$!" It was priceless! Well, all the people around us were cracking upright along with us! To this day whenever we walk by COP-(it is not open as aften as we would like!)he reminds us..."Mom, remember when he said.....". :rotfl2:

One time it was me my sister, mom, aunt, and grandpop on the test track. we had a great time. After stopping in the heat we stopped in the cold room. And then before you take the drive down the strip to go to the crash doors we never drove towards the crash doors we were sitting there staring at the crash doors. Happy time.
Then we were going to the thermal imaging at the end of the ride we would go and brake go and brake. Eventully we started saying pensoil stop go. Me and my dad got stuck at the end right before the loading area we got stuck. The poles shot up out of the side of the track and two cm's came out to make it start back up.

Every time we get to the unloading area dad says Ramming Speedand then we ram into a boat.

Like most everyone else here, I've stopped on Spaceship Earth, Pirates, and the Haunted Mansion. I love stopping on HM and even once had it happen at the ballroom scene!

I guess the most memorable was on Test Track. We were stopped right as you start to accelerate up the hill at the increasing angles. We sat there for at least 20 minutes. (Really, really boring.) Finally, the ride started again and everything was fine. As we reached the part where you get out of the car, the CM apologised for the wait and asked if we wanted to go again! We got to ride twice in a row! Too cool!

A few years ago when we were down for a night at the MVMCP we were there with my mother in law who was leery about rides in the first place, let alone at night and a night that was hovering in the 30's. We talked her into going onto Splash Mountain w/ us and we told her that she would'nt get much splash if she sat in the back. Well, in the jumping waters room, the jumping waters weren't jumping, instead, one of the jets was aimed directly at our heads and was not turning off, needless to say we were all soaked! Then on the big lift hill the ride stops, and we are next to go over the top, after a few minutes we didn't think anything of it until we hit the pond at the bottom, where all of the water had been piling up w/ no logs splashing water out before us the wave going over us was like going under a waterfall the hard way, not just seeing the back side of water. At this point my MIL is just about to kill me, I was glad I was in the front seat, when how could it get anyworse, but the ride stops again and we are under the little waterfall just before the last small drop into the paddlewheel room and you guessed it the log is stuck w/ my MIL right under the waterfall and we were there for 20 minutes! We watched the shadows of the christmas parade on the mountain above us as we sat there getting even more soaked. Needless to say, my MIL now will no longer believe anything I say regarding a ride experience. I can't wait for another year when I get to go again w/her and the family! :umbrella:

These stories are too funny! I have gotten stuck on Buzz, Spaceship Earth several times, POC and Test Track right in the middle of a high speed turn. I personally would freak out if I got stuck anywhere on the HM! :earseek:

I laughed so hard at Sleepy's reply because we were stuck on the Dinosaur ride also!! It was pitch black and the car itself was moving like it was supposed to, but the ride was at a standstill. We had our 5 and 7 year olds with us, and our 5 year old was very scared. It was our first time on the ride and was not sure what to expect. No one in our vehicle knew whether it was the ride with a dramatic effect or simply broken. After a few minutes it was rather iritating because you didn't know what to do or expect. We were thinking that they forgot about us and we would be stranded. After about 10 minutes, it just started up again and nothing was said by the CM's when we got off. My 5 year old was so scared, but now we laugh about it.

Not funny but when I was little, we were on CoP and all of a sudden the stage got stuck in between scenes and the Mother and Father started to act 'crazy'. The father would start to say something and then the mother would start from the next scene. She would stop in mid sentence and then the father would start (from the previous scene). The CM came on the PA and said that there was a small fire and that we all needed to exit out the theatre. I got a kick out of seeing the malfunction.

I also got stuck on Space Mountain during an E-ticket night. We were on there so long that we missed most of the E-ticket night. I did get to hear some interesting stories about how they had to shut down the ride because someone lost their Mickey balloon and another person lost their fake arm.

I think every time we ride Spaceship Earth it breaks down! A few years ago we were ALL THE WAY AT THE TOP! Right where you're looking up at the earth. We stayed there for a really long time and they turned on the lights and we had to walk all the way down. Man there's a lot of stairs in that thing.

Last year we were on it and it broke down while we were right in front of the guy carving the statue. He kindof looks towards the riders and then back at the statue. Well he was looking RIGHT at me and let me tell ya, when you really look at his eyes it's pretty creepy. We ended up staying in that spot for about 5 minutes and it was REALLY freaking me out. My husband was dying laughing every time he would look at me.
