Fun..."Quirky" things to do.....

Thanks...we'll ask the captain my son would love this.

I hope the monorail does allow front passengers again. We rode last year on halloween night. 1:00 am. We were the 2nd last car in the whole parking lot! (We just couldn't leave!;)) The driver was excellent at giving us a few stories about her years driving.

Hang out at the Main Street train station and take in all the hidden details.
On the 2nd floor inside there are penny hand-crank movies that you can do for free, and there is a big musical contraption that contains somewhere between 5 and 7 instruments. Most people think it there for nostalgia or pure decoration. There is a slot on the right edge of it that you can deposit money into (10 cents, I think?). I decided to give it a try, and it came to glorious life! Everyone around me gathered around it and enjoyed the wonderful music that came from it.
That was the best surprise from our last trip to WDW in May--to me, that little-known experience was Disney Magic :wizard:.

Ask at the Liberty Belle if you can ride in the Pilot house. It's a 'whole new world' up there.
They don't do it that often.

Try getting from DHS to MK by Boat/Monorail/Launch from the Poly. It is an adventure in it self.

Make sure you laugh and participate in everything on the Jungle Cruise. See if you can get someone else to hide when the 'Natives' attack.

On our past June trip I was with 3 teenage girls:

1. One evening, when the Pinocchio Village restaurant wasn't busy, we sat at a table by the window where you could see the Small World ride, and the girls sat there and waved to the guest going by. The girls were have lots of fun.

2. Another day, in Epcot, one of DD friends called the phone booth in UK, and when a little kid came in, she would ask if he was having a magical trip, and did he see Mickey yet. But the best was she told this one young guy (he sounded like he was from another country) that she was Tinkerbelle and she was flying over Epcot, he was so excited, he made her say hello to all the friends in his group, they were all wearing blue shirts, and she said I love your blue shirts, he was so amazed. She was having a blast. She said I want to come back and work here.

You want quirky? I'll give you quirky.
On our trip this past May, DH and I were terribly missing our now 22 y.o. DD.
So while at T-Rex Restaurant, we bought ourselves a son; we made our own stuffed stegasaurus dinosaur(it's like Build-A-Bear). We dressed him and named him (Wyatt Austin). We received a birth certificate and they packed him in his own little cardboard house.
So after we got our new "son", DD and I took pictures of Wyatt going on different rides with us and placed in front of fun locations.
DH took him on the carousel ride at DTD and I took pictures. Then we took a picture of Wyatt at the Harley Davidson store wearing a 'bad to the bone' leather hat. Then we took him to the pin store and got his a pin trader i.d. card with his photo.
We took a picture of him in front of the giant Cinderella's Castle at World of Disney. We've got the funniest pictures now. I guess you could do this with any favorite stuffed animal or a little "roaming gnome".
Ok, maybe we are a little more than quirky. Maybe we are just weird...but it was fun!

I think the title of this thread could have been used for the "one" just pulled!!!
See ya dude!!! It was interesting!

I LOVE this idea! So cute!:cutie:

there is an old style phone in the MKin the general store - on the right as you are headed towards the castle. if you pick up the receiver, you can hear an old "party line" call in progress

This is a little off topic but We did this same type of thing locally. We have an old Kermit the frog that I picked up at the thrift store. We have pictures of Kermit in the grocery cart, at Blockbuster getting his own card, and posing by his movies (Muppets Christmas Carol, Muppets Wizard of Oz, Muppets take Manhatten), Kermit getting ready to take a dip in the apartment complex pool, Kermit on the playground, etc. He now resides on the mantle next to our budha statue and our roomates gnome statue.

"Another day, in Epcot, one of DD friends called the phone booth in UK"

I do that sometimes. I have that and the one in Canada in my cell.

I did something similar. I made a laminated version of my assistant at work, including personalized Mickey ears, and took her for the entire week, snapping pictures of her on all the rides, etc. Then I came home and made a scrapbook of her vacation and gave it to my assistant. She had so much fun that the flat person ended up doing to Disneyland Paris with us last year and yes, another scrapbook.

We were just there in August, and on the last day, I got a "Disney Wild About Safety" card at the Mara at AKL. It has safety tip #14 on it, so I'm assuming there are at least 13 more?? They were free at the register, so I guess I (and a lot of you) will be wanting to find out where to get the others.

These cards are like the Transportation set they had last year, with the boats, busses, and monorails.

I haven't heard of this. What are the phone numbers? Thanks.

Beaches and Cream, tackle the Kitchen Sink, 21 scoops of ice cream, 2 cans of whipped cream, brownies and just about everything else you can imagine.......also, pick one place at Disney, anywhere, a place where you come back to every year and take a new picture. Ours....in front of the Mickey topiary at DTD, and Italy WS in front of the old fountain...It's fun to see yourselves through the years.....or maybe not...fun for us:rolleyes1

Find out when the "candy lady" will be making an appearance in Japan at Epcot.

It's fascinating to watch - she makes elaborate candy "sculptures" out of a taffy-like substance. People in the crowd call out different types of animals, and she makes them! So cool - I watched for more than 30 minutes last time.

I always go to the "Singin' in the Rain" umbrella in the back of DHS and step on the pad to make it rain!

Me too! The first time, it took me awhile to figure out the "rain pad" on the ground, because I kept standing on the base of the lampost. After all, Gene Kelly didn't stand on the ground!

Disney Daddy and I talked about her just the other day -- SO very cool and amazing to watch. Looking foward to seeing her again next week!

For the PPs who mentioned these: Will you post the location of the umbrella? Also, what are the phone numbers for the booths in Epcot?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

The umbrella is on a corner of one of the Streets of America in DHS. I think it's near the area of Lights Motors Action. Can't help with the phone numbers, but would like to get DD to answer one when we are there.
