Fun..."Quirky" things to do.....

Unfortunately, this is because of the Monorail accident that happened recently where a CM was fatally injured. I think it's going to be a long time before they offer this again, if at all.

What?!?!?! I know I have been away from DisBoards for a while, but when did this happen???

I always go to the "Singin' in the Rain" umbrella in the back of DHS and step on the pad to make it rain! It's so much fun, and lots of people don't seem to realize it's there. I've gotten people forming lines behind me every time I do it because they've never seen it before!

I am one of those people that never knew about this.....where is it exactly??????? This is why I am obsessed with the DIS, I learn so much from you guys. :disrocks:

I knew about the singing in the rain umbrella, but not about the pad to make it rain! I really missed that one! Now, I too must know where it is so I do not miss showing the boys this one in November....

What iphone app is that? I need it :)!!

It's called Disney World Hidden Mickeys....there is also WDW secrets by Notecast, if you like to learn about some secrets about all of the Disney parks, that one is fun too and interesting. :thumbsup2

I guess the bus drivers have little cards with pics of the different Disney busses on them. My friend was mentioning her little guy got a few last year. They didn't ask for them or anything, the driver just gave him some.

Maybe someone here could confirm. My little guy woould love those!;)

You can also get cards on the boats. :)

You can make paper in Innoventions at Epcot! I did this in June and it was tons of fun and makes for a great souvenir from the trip.

This sounds really interesting, do you know which side of Innoventions it was on?

Thanks!

When I went this past June, I found the umbrella and stepped on the pad and nothing happened! But it was still a cute pic to have :)

Visit the glass blower on Main Street is very interesting. My kids watched for 45 minutes or so.

Where is that umbrella!

I looked for it in the Street of America this past saturday and couldn't find it.

The lights are going up for the Osbourne light festival, though...

My friends and I take a pretend shot everytime we see a hidden mickey, or mickey shaped anything. Could you imagine if we had real alchohol? :lmao:

That's funny! At some points of the day (meltdown time) I think DH could use a "real" alcohol shot!;)

We finally saw the "Candy Lady" in EPCOT this year...She is facinating. We also collect pressed pennies. My kids each tried to complete a boxed pin set by pin trading. They each finally found their last pin on our final day. We do a candy sampling tour around the World Showcase.

Candy sampling around the World Showcase is a fantastic idea! Maybe not to eat while there (hard enough time deciding what treats to eat as it is!) but to bring home! That way, we can map it too! Thanks!:goodvibes

Not to get anyones hopes up but I got a Tweet from a friend who was on his last day at Disney and mentioned that they were riding in the front of the monorail. I wrote him back asking if they started allowing it again but he never wrote back. Someone else wrote me back though and mentioned that he's heard rumors that some drivers are allowing it again? Not 100% sure of the validity of this though!

In the Magic Kingdom, we got on the train and sat in the back row. The "caboose conductor" asked my girls to be junior conductors! They got to stand on the back platform, ring the bell and announced "all aboard" over the speaker. Then they waved to everyone the whole "trip" to the next station. He even took our picture on the back of the train while people were still boarding. And he also gave each girl a Guest Conductor Card as a souveniour.

I don't know if you can ask to do this or if it was only a "dreams" promotion that year.

And, ditto, on the pressed pennies. My kids love them!
