The dells? I've always had a good time there. or maybe a few days in Chicago? Do some shopping, go to the museums, Six Flags. Or.. the Twin Cities in MN? I could spend a couple days just at the Mall of America. :lovestruc Plus you could go to the zoo and Valleyfair.

I hate the dells. I was thinking mall of america but what else is around there? whats vallyfair?

Valleyfair is only the largest amusement park in the upper midwest. :thumbsup2

They have like over 75 rides, with a bunch of rollercoasters. It's pretty fun. Plus they have a waterpark that's included in admission, has a bunch of water slides and a lazy river.

Here's some more info on what to do in that area:

Maybe you could take her to Disney. You could make it a shorter trip and really budget your food.

Sorry your trip was cancelled because your mom can't afford it. Not too nice to be calling her a cheapskate, though....

I live just north of Milwaukee so I am in between a lot of great places. How about:

1. Door County
2. Six Flags/Gurnee Mills in IL
3. A nice resort in the Dells like Kalahari, Wilderness, etc.
4. Mackinac Island in MI

Disney not in the budget this year Sigh. I cant afford to pay her way too or I would. Anyone ever been to any other cool place? Im thinking if the price is low I may get to go somewere cool!

I agree!

Not nice to call family cheap either because they had to cancel trip. sig was changed

Door County, Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. What exactly are you hoping for in a vacation? Six Flags for rides? Scenery? You don't like the Dells...camping? Devil's Lake, Crystal River...it's getting near fall, some places will be closing soon, when will you be travelling?

I want excitment. I love measums, love history, could spend 5 years on maritime history or military history, love good photos, love law enforcment things (I :love:National measum of crime and punishment).

Be careful with the dells, we just were there for three nights and spent $1200.00!! And that was in a cheap motel! After returning home, my DH and I both said the same thing, we should have went to Disney!!

I have the "need excitment" problem too, Chicago would be your best bet, but it won't be cheap.

How about driving west to South Dakota? You can see lots of great things for cheap - Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands, Black Hills/Custer State Park. Town of Deadwood if you are into the Wild West.

There are plenty of free things to see on the drive over as well such as Jolly Green Giant statue, Spam museum, corn palace, waterfalls of Sioux Falls.

I'm so confused. I thought you were an adult?

Well, she is over 21 if that is what you mean.

FBB--just be grateful that your family takes you on vacation. Most people when they move out on their own and start working pay for their own vacations and no longer travel with Mom and Dad every summer. If you want to go to Disney, go to Disney on your own dime. If you can't afford it, do what most responsible adults do and save money and go when you can.

Cranberry Festival is in Warren WI this weekend.
Lots of arts/crafts, a parade. Get to meet the 2 yokels that do the Cranberry commercials.

You know how many corn mazes have popped up in WI?
We are doing the one down by Lodi WI.
Just google "corn mazes in WI".

Sorry you can't go to WDW this year or if you meant next year.
WI likes to exagerate how well our state is doing, but the economy and layoffs are really bad. I think our unemployment rate is almost 10% and that doesn't include people that have lost their unemployment checks, because their benefits ended. Maybe help your mom save money for WDW next year.

Avoid the Dells if you want somewhere inexpensive. You can easily drop enough there for a trip to Disney (and then some!).

Cranberry Fest is this weekend and like OhMari said, it's a lot of arts/crafts and there is a HUGE parade on Sunday. I've been numerous times and it's a fun weekend. :)

Valley Fair is fun (though not cheap), Door County, Mackinac Island, Sault St. Marie, Duluth/Superior, Chicago, Milwaukee, Springfield, IL (Abraham Lincoln stuff), Madison, the amusement park at Mall of America is lots of fun, Black Hills OR you can stay around where you live and play tourist. There are a lot of fun things to do around where you are. :)

Or, if you really want to go to Disney, start saving your own money, instead of planning on going on someone else's dime. ;)

Just an FYI, alot of the places people are mentioning will be costly. Disney has put out some great deals these past few years and pricewise and value wise may be hard to beat. Just a for instance, I was pricing 2 nights at the Great WOlf Lodge in the Poconos for November and it's close to 700.00:scared1: without food. So perhaps, you can save up and pay for her:lovestruc

Then why don't you all sit down together, and talk about how you can do it. Figure out the cheapest way to go (ie staying off site, or at one of the value places) how long it will take everyone to raise all the money, and then set your sights on that. Going an another cheaper vacation will only push back your disney trip, if thats whats important to you.

Also, just my opinion, but I'd change my sig if I were you. Not nice, very immature, and just a stupid thing to say. You WANT to go on a trip with these people, right??? :confused3
