CM I just spoke to said - "They determined on Friday @ 3pm that all FTP will be thru WDTC only." Which means everyone must prepay 45 days (except DC members).

On Monday, I was told I could change it today. I will not be able to do that. So, I need three grand by next Wednesday.

Well, I'm glad I was able to book with the DC. At least we have until 21 days before to make full payment!:D

I am not surprised. This is a package deal (ie room, tickets and gift). If the rumors are correct all Disney bookings will be 45 day advances soon (which will continue to drive me offsite, but that is another post!)

You know for all the complaining that went on about no discounts, then you get the discounts and you're all still complaining...

You know ducklite, as time goes on I'm beginning to come around to your way of thinking more and more.;)

While paying 45 days in advance isn't what I want, I can understand why they're doing it and I can't say that I blame them.

Many people have warned that the practice of multiple bookings because you can't make up your mind or booking with no real intention of keeping the reservation without a discount all translates into a high cancellation rate. People aren't going to stop doing this until Disney comes up with a way to force them to. I don't suppose this will stop it completely, but it sure will force them to cancel a whole lot earlier and I'm all for that.

While I'd rather pay my balance at check-in, I really don't see the big deal. The bill has to be paid sometime, what real difference does it make if it's when I get there or a few weeks before.

Besides, with the incredible deal they're offering on the FT package, I don't think I'd be complaining about anything.

LOL... did hell freeze over?

Actually for me the issue is that due to Business issues I don't always know for sure I can go 45 days in advance. Yes, the company would probably reimburse me for any cancellation fees, but I just hate that.

We have a hard time with 45 days out as well, due to work issues. My husband has cancelled almost every vacation we schedule due to something hitting the fan at work. His work will not reimburse us if we have to cancel. Plus, I rather have the interest on my $4k....

I agree, paying the balance at check-in is better. Unfortunately, that's being ruined by a minority of people who choose to think only of themselves. All I'm saying is I don't blame Disney for it and I won't threaten to take my business elsewhere because of it.

I would imagine the number of people whose trips are truly up in the air 45 days out is a very small number. Certainly it's fewer than those who have caused this change to come about.

Btw, these days the interest on $4k for a month or so really doesn't amount to much.:(

This may not help you now, but if you book the trip with the new Disney Visa card from Bank One, they give you 6 months 0% interest to pay it off.

They also offer their own discount codes from time to time.
Every little bit helps!
