driving up from ft Myers beach to disney in late August

Maoquest gives two options either I75 to I4 or rt17 to I4

Both show about 3 1/2 hrs but I75 is 50 miles more

Any drive this? Which way is better? Does 17 have tolls or lights?

Any better way then these?

Thx

Neither route is a toll road.

Taking Interstate-75 to Interstate-4 is an all-freeway route. You would drive further, but you would do so without encountering traffic signals.

US Highway 17 is a "highway." Although most of it is 4 lanes (2 in each direction), there are still many miles that are just 2 lanes (1 in each direction). The highway goes through agricultural areas, undeveloped lands, and a number of towns. The towns have traffic signals and reduced speeds.

It's a matter of what you prefer.

I prefer US Highway 17. It's a chance to to see "old Florida," the agricultural state dotted with small towns. It's a shorter route, which means less gasoline. Although your average speed will be lower, the shorter distance means it should not take any longer than the all-freeway route.
