Frustrated with the computer system

I will start this out by saying that I've never had any issues with MS, until the last few months. I'm usually one of the ones here saying "I've never had any issues".

Today is exactly 180 days from the start of our Oct stay so I went online this morning to begin booking our dining reservations. For some reason, the only nights of our 6 night stay that are showing on Disney's website are our last 2 nights so I couldn't book anything because the website said that I'm outside of our 180 +10 window.

I called MS and the CM couldn't even make a ressie for today (180 day mark) using our account. She had a manager working with her to figure it out, but they couldn't fix the problem while I was on the phone so they had to create a dummy account and book our dining ressies with that. After 28 mins of being on the phone (15 of that on hold), I got my first dining ressie made.

I do appreciate that they figured out a way around the problem and were able to get me the ressies I wanted. I'm frustrated that it took a total of 35 mins over the phone to do what I could have easily done in 5 mins online had there not been a glitch in the system and now I have to HOPE that the ressies I did get are correctly moved over to our account once they figure the problem out.

OK - vent over....thanks for listening.

The online dining system does not recognize my DVC reservation number for our October stay, so I am booking one day at a time. Hasn't been a problem getting the ADR's that I wanted, just an extra hassle.

We had to do the same thing recently. We have a single reservation number, but we start our week in a 2BR and switch to a 1BR mid-week. The Disney website accepted the reservation number, but had our arrival date as the second half of the stay. I agree, it was a frustrating 35 minutes and I did not feel that I had the choice that I normally have doing things online. Additionally, the CM read the dining reservation disclaimer after every reservation that was made -- really annoying! I also do not understand why 407-WDW-DINE could not do the same thing, knowing that this is a system glitch.

We rarely do split stays, so I am hoping this is a glitch related to that and not a general problem with DVC reservations.

The CM that I was working with was very polite, accomodating and apologetic for the situation. Hopefully they can figure our a way to fix this quickly!

Ours isn't a split stay, but we did have to waitlist Thurs night. It eventually came though. The DVC member site shows us as having 3 separate bookings under the same reservation # (Sun-Wed, Th-Fri & Fri-Sat). Disney's dining reservation system is only picking up the last 2 nights.

While the time it takes to call MS is frustrating, my biggest concern is that even MS couldn't make a dining reservation for me at the 180 day mark.

I thought it was just our account but if this is happening to others, Disney or DVC needs to fix it. It's not right that we have to spend the extra time and miss out on times that we want because their systems can't correctly talk to each other.

When you get the message that they don't recognize the reservation confirmation number, just click the "Confirm" button a second time and see if you get in. The last time I booked dining at 180+10, I got the error message and just clicked the button a second time and I was in and able to make dining reservations for the entire stay.

Hopefully that works for some people. I did that several times today and the system still would not recognize the remainder of my reservation.

My reply was really directed at cvjw whose situation sounded similar to mine. I didn't expect it to work in your case since it seems to accept your confirmation number but pulls up only part of the reservation. In my case the dining reservation system claimed my reservation number was invalid. I tried it on www.mydisneyreservation.com/dvc and it worked there. I tried it on the dining reservation system again and it was rejected again. Out of sheer frustration I clicked "confirm" a second time and it pulled it up on the second click. I did a few more tests and it behaved the same way consistently. So for people in my situation (and I hope for cvjw as well) it may provide a workaround. If it thinks your reservation number is valid but doesn't pull up the correct dates then no, clicking twice will probably not help.

ETA: And I agree it is frustrating, especially when you are trying to book dining reservations late at night when MS and WDW Dining are closed for the day!

Oh I didn't think you were directing it towards me. I just thought that I would point out that it is a good tactic for people to try before giving up and calling MS.

I know this may sound like heresy but we prefer to speak with a human being to get things right. Have never had an issue the old fashion way. I'm on the cpu all day at work so I'm burnt out at the end of the day. Nothing like a perky CM to give me a taste of Disney.

If you aren't trying to book at 180 +10, online dining reservations work pretty well. You avoid the long hold times to get through to Disney dining and can make reservations at any hour of the day. I'm usually cautious about doing anything online with Disney but I have been pleasantly surprised by the online dining reservation system, other than getting it to accept a DVC reservation number.

It is a known issue and they are working on it (slowly)

I've been going online these past 2 mornings and getting the ADR's we want and when we want them, even got a time for a character meal that MS said wasn't available when I was on the phone with them Monday. So, booking one day at a time is working out well, but like you said, just an bit of a hassle.

the OP said she called, and they couldn't get it to work either.

Today dining stuff is down, by the way, according to the message on the site.

We have not had problems with MS until this week.

Called 4/18 and the system did not recognize my points. The dates I wanted were available. MS called the resort and put a hold on the rooms, promising to call me in 30 minutes, but maybe tomorrow (a bit of a difference) once the issue was fixed to give me a confirmed reservation number. I realized today I never heard back. When I called I got a newbie who I could not understand, kept calling me something that sounded like Arizona instead of Elizabeth. She offered to help take care of the reservation since the other rep was off today. She then decided to leave a note for the other rep and that was it. I quickly called back and after lots more time on hold have a confirmed reservation number.

A little frustrating...

I do have a segmented and split stay booked and the Disney site also only brings up the last segment as well. When I click on details, it shows them all. I was able to book dining from the first day, but I had trouble with booking CRT both online and with a live person on the dining site. They could not get it to take as the dining plan I had was attached to the night before the reservation segement that they could see so it said I had not yet checked in.

I also hope that it gets fixed soon as I still can't see the CRT reservation, even though I call MS and they tell me it is still there (have a confirmation # as well).

Thank you for pointing out that I was talking to a human being and they still couldn't get the system to work Bumber....I was going to reply, but decided to leave it be ;) Oh and for the record, the CM I had was not perky. Professional & polite, yes. Perky, no.

As for today, I was able to book a breakfast & a dinner ADR at 9am this morning. I had both done within 3 minutes. I must have gotten in before the system went down.
