Frozen Ride opening date?

The whole thing has been misguided from the start...

I distinctly remember the "frozen is different...my DD will never move on!!!" Two years ago when preaching caution.

Well? Did she move on?
You know what really interesting in this OLC in Tokyo is going back over their plans and looking to expanding or adding more to their frozen area in DisneySea instead of cutting things out.

Could be a positive for WDW. You know how the Mexico ride got an AA upgrade thanks to the installation of discards from Tokyo? Arendell will get the Frozen AAs when Japan tosses them out some day.

/snark

I'll be a grandfather by the time that happens

I was hoping this would be open when we go in May, but I also hope I could get a fastpass for it. The lines will likely be horrible. lol

The budget cut rumors would be disturbing if they are true because they might be the first sign of Disney reacting to recent bad financial news.

Going cheap on that one ride isn't major in itself but if it's a sign of them going cheap on DHS that would be really bad news.

I read on the wdwmagic that someone heard from their sources that budget cuts had happened for this ride. I usually take that with a grain of salt as I don't recall that particular individual having any sort of track record regarding rumors in any way. Those that use those forums for rumors know the select few that have a track record and that person is not in that category. Now, maybe the ride opens and it is obvious that there were budget cuts. If that happens, then I give that person the benefit of the doubt next time. But until that happens, I will wait and see.

Well, on the positive side for me, if it's not open early May, I will drop my early am Akershus ressies and rearrange my schedule. More time for US and Sea World. We were going to devote 1 EPCOT day to attractions and 1 day to princesses. Now we can do it all in 1, especially with nothing in Captain EO theater, Innoventions, Soarin closed, Norway, etc. I'll just look at the flowers and ride Nemo. I will probably cancel my evening ADR, too and just wing it. Actually, I like that thought.

I can say my 7 year old hasn't moved on. She tells me that a lot of her friends say A&E aren't cool any more (2nd grade - in general the princess love starts to fade at this age for most) but she doesn't care (and I absolutely love this self-confidence in her). She's as into princesses, glitter, and pink as she ever was - and A&E are still her favorites. She spent hours last night building the newest Arendelle Lego castle. Of course... her mommy is also a Disney fanatic who hasn't given up her love of all things Ariel and Aladdin either ;)

Interesting we still have no opening date. That could help the rumors of them being behind schedule. But otherwise I agree with you.

And in fact looking at this further, the "source" of those rumors seems to be a poster on the boards with a particularly strong anti-Iger agenda and a track record of making negative claims that he can't back up.

The same individual also claimed there would be no announcements at D23 last year...

I've heard the same thing from some folks in the neighborhood that work there, although it may be more cutting things for time (to get it finished sooner) than any budget (but the budget being small has caused issues also). Based on that it is likely going to be open later than expected with less than the originally planned experience. It's just having "issues" as they said. Rumors are rumors but there does seem to be some weight to it.

I'll urge caution about this budget cut talks.

No corporate project ever gets "more money". It's always cut as part of the plans. That's why they get inflated budget proposals and borrow from other projects.

If you think about it.. It's not like they haven't started the AAs for this and cutting the budget means they don't put them in. Anything for this ride is already built and that part of the budget is already assigned/spent.

Budget cuts on commissioned capital projects are typically about scale back your lunches, travels, and put pressure on your contractors to control their overtime. You wouldn't scale back the build this late in the game.

And that assumes the budget cut rumor is true. All these "rumors" come from mid and low level employees who typically just hear the "budget cut" and not the what or why and misinterpret these things.

RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR,RUMOR

If one has not guessed, these are strictly rumors . . .
1) We have been talking and speculating the attraction has been hit with cost-cutting.
. . . no one knows the extent of the costs or how they affect the original ride plans.
. . . and, few are even venturing a guess
2) The original date to open was ESTIMATED at May 1, 2016.
. . . there was never a firm announcement of the opening date
. . . there has never been a revised date
. . . there has been no firm facts of the project being ahead, on-time, or behind schedule
3) In conclusion, no one knows anything, except Lamont Cranston ! *
.
* If we can't get Lamont to tell us, we will call 867-5309 and ask for Jenny.

NOTE: I am not at all interest in the story, the movie, or the ride. (In fact, I fell asleep in the movie). I only offer the above to show what is and what is not known about the revised Norway ride.

Yes. Martin did say tho that the delay might be true but he hasn't heard anything about any budget cuts.

Yep...that was the first thought
