Frozen Fireworks: Alaska on the Wonder July 2, 2012

When we took dd to WDW she and I would do the planing on our commute every day. Dh was left out of the loop so we made a powerpoint for each day of our trip. We went through one day of our vacation each Sunday after dinner. Dd learned some great computer skills and dh got in on the fun. Yesterday I realised we need to start our countdown ppt NOW! Just 2 months left!:cool1:

Anyone have any cool countdown ideas they want to share?

Hi Amy, What a neat idea. Generally we haven't done count downs like this. I know others create paper chains and on each of the links is something that needs to be purchased, packed or done prior to traveling.

Ok.. got my idea for FE gifts and have already started planning it out. Looks like we have a total of 29 folks right now. DH and DD said they will be delivering on the ship.

Some FE questions::coffee:

1. Do we have a certain time or day we deliver our stuff?
2. I'm guessing we do something for boys, girls and adults.
3. Any price limits, stuff like that?
4. Anything else I should know for the first time?

Can you believe it's only about 2 months now? Wow party:

Yay! Me too. I think I might actually be more excited, at least tied, with FE gifts than any thing else on the cruise. Crafts and gift giving together...perfection.

Newbie question here. I understand the pirate themed diner and evening on Caribbean cruise and that pirates don't make as much sense in Alaska. Am I reading correctly that we still have a pirate night with pirate themed activities but the food is Alaska based?

Does this mean I need to change my Carribean pirate gear for fur trader or prospector costumes?:rotfl: hee hee hee

We had pirate night in the Mediterranean last summer, and in Mexico in January -- it's just a Disney thing :) I don't think the food is particularly Alaska-based -- I'd expect the typical pirate night menu, but then again I don't know for sure!

Do we have a headcount for the FE? I'm not quite sure who all is participating.

This showed up on the boards today. People are reporting that we do not have pirate night in Alaska this year.

Have any of you gotten confirmation on Pirate night during our cruise?

I am telling you that Lumberjack Nght in red plaid flannel would be a good replacement.

Sorry about the crazy posting. I couldn't post the URL until I hit the magic number. Disboards has a serious learning curve! :confused3

Hi... you can do it on the DCL website, but you might be missing out on any Travel agent perks. I would not use a travel agent that doesn't offer any On Board Credit (OBC) perk. Dreams Unlimited which connected to these boards and has OBC offers, most of your business with them is through email. Small World Vacations, also has OBC offers, but you get an agent that has a toll free number and email.

You can use the DCL site to figure out the general cost and then work with a TA to book and give you their OBC offer. FYI.. They do have some good inside room rates now.

At this stage in the game it's time for me to get busy - especially with packing lists. I'm holding out some long sleeves as the winter clothes go up and the summer ones come down. I know we'll need those. Layers. Layers. Layers. But about formal nights? Do the young boys usually wear tuxedos or suits? It's not going to be easy to get DS7 in either.

For young boys.. I have seen slacks (kahki's) and a shirt. Sometimes even a tie. No need to get him a suit or Tux

Hi WarEagleGirl,

I saw this somewhere:

"When preparing to travel, layout all your clothes, and all your money. Then take half your clothes and twice the money. :thumbsup2

Perfect! That's exactly what I needed/wanted to hear.

Thank You.

Liblady
