Frozen Fireworks: Alaska on the Wonder July 2, 2012

If we sign up for an excursion and change our mind, can we cancel it?

yes, up until 3 days prior to the cruise sailing.

Did you get the excursions that you wanted? What did you get?

Hi Ame, We'll be booking tonight at 9:00pm. I'll let you know what we get in a couple of hours. Do you recommend Palo brunch or dinner? Hope we can get at least one or the other. Not sure hubby would tolerate the tea. :scratchin

11 pm in Texas. Sitting on the floor of my bedroom waiting for the magical website to change.:hourglass

11:08 pm We got our first choice at each port.

S- Eagle Preserve Wildlife river adventure
J- Enchanted Taku Lodge
K- Going crabbing on the Allutian Ballard

We didn't get a space at Liarsville that fit with our Eagle Preserve river adventure, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

11:19 pm DH still asleep even after I did the happy dance. :yay:

See you dockside!:beach:

9pm came and went and I totally forgot to book Palo for my sister/BIL. By the time I went in, I couldn't get tea at all and brunch on a different day then what we booked for ourselves. Really wish DCL didn't close the booking window loophole. It was so much easier when I can arrange it for everyone traveling with us... Sounds like the rest of you had more luck!:thumbsup2

We got our first choices also, but not after a fight with the computer, I don't know what the problem was but it wasn't letting me book the Mendanhal Glacier, it was a knock down drag out... but alas I won!

Ketchikan - Wildlife tour and raptor center
Juneau - Mendanhal Glacier and Whales

It's not letting me check in yet. I guess I'm surfing the Disboards another 2 hours....popcorn::

Ok, finally, we were linked with DS & DDIL so locked us out of some stuff, but:

Skagway: Klondike Gold Dredge & White Pass Railway
Juneau: Deluxe Tour of Juneau
Ketchikan: Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour - hubbys a fan!

Palo brunch.

:sail:

Hi.. we will be doing the Enchanted Taku Lodge with you!

Hi Ame, We'll be booking tonight at 9:00pm.

I always lose track working out days with adding hours and taking off days.

Good to hear that you got what you wanted and most others did as well. Fingers crossed for those who missed out on times.

Just curious... Where do you live? I must have missed your response (or I just forgo) to Laura's list of fun questions.

We're from Sydney, Australia. So other way round with seasons, not that we get a cold winter anyway. Temps in Alaska will most likely be colder than back home in the middle of winter :)

My DH has to go to Sydney a few weeks after we get back from Alaska. We had debated taking the girls and going with him (it's a business trip), but when we remembered that it was winter, we decided to hold off until he had a trip that fell in a different season. We honeymooned in Australia in November long ago and found the entire country to be so beautiful -- can't wait until we finally get to go again together!

July is winter, but it's still pretty mild. I think Alaska will be colder :lmao: But August is often quite windy with awful southerlies that are bitterly cold (for us!) October/November and March/April are the best times to visit IMO. It is a beautiful country.

Does anyone know which night Pirate Night will be?

No idea, but I am planning to eat elsewhere that night. I hated the pirate menu on our MR cruise. As a vegetarian there is only one or two options so if I don'tlike one dish and the other I've had in the past and was poorly prepared, then I'll skip. I didn't like the hard sell on the cups/drinks that night and will happily settle for a vegie burger, fries and some fresh fruit that night. Then we'll have plenty of room for the dessert buffet. :thumbsup2

I will be traveling with DH (Jack), DD 16 (Skylar), DD 10/11 (Calla), DS 5 (Casey)

Phew, glad I'm not the only one! We usually try to line up Palo for Pirate Night so we can miss the whole thing. I'm not a wet blanket or anything, it's just not my scene!
