Frozen Fireworks: Alaska on the Wonder July 2, 2012

The FE sign up closed last week and the list was finalized and emailed to everyone who signed up. That said, I have a few extras that I can slip into your FE but I can't promise that the others haven't ordered/made theirs. If you want to provide your info (see Post #1), I can re-distribute that list to all participants and I'm sure if people have extra, they wouldn't mind adding you to the fun!

I want to say sorry for those who haven't gotten emails from DD. She often doesn't get home until 8 then it's a race on how fast she can eat dinner, bathe, and get to bed) and our weekends aren't any better. I'm hoping that with school getting out this week and summer gymnastics practices schedule kicking in next week, we'll have time to get to those emails!

Connie - Don't feel too bad.. DD also doesn't get home until late and that is why we were so late in answering the first email. She has been out of school since End of May, but she has been preparing for this past weekend where she was dancing. Started Wednesday afternoon and Lasted until Sunday evening. Tonight we went to see the movie "First Position" . A must for anyone interested in Ballet.

I really need to see this. I run a ballet school, and we're taking the plunge with a few students next year to do YAGP. All my students have seen it and have told me all about it, meanwhile my peers say 'meh, nothing I didn't already know'. So I'd like to see for myself.

I should have guessed by your DIS name that you might have been a dancer. :cool1: I think if you are in the business or know about YAGP it isn't anything new, but what is interesting is the back story of the dancers. It sure makes it more interesting than "Dance Moms". I tried to my DD studio to pull together a group to go, but they just didn't get their act together, but once the Artistic Director saw the email I sent, she handed out fliers at the Dance Concert this weekend and we had a few from the studio there and the Artistic Director. She was impressed with the ability of several of the dancers. Especially the young man from Columbia and Michaela (sp).

My other tag name is BunlessInSeattle... hardyharhar

But I love Dance Moms, it just makes me so grateful for the parents that I work with. FYI, Michaela has gotten a contract with Dance Theater of Harlem.

Are you doing the FE? Maybe I can get something dance related in there for your daughter.

How did she do? Wednesday - Sunday --- that's a LOT of dancing!!

And here I thought Bunless meant no kids!

lol, that too

I was always the anti-ballerina. As soon as I did my last show in high school, all those years ago, I chopped off all of my hair and have kept it that way every sense. So, no bun, I am Bunless.

My school, that I am the director of, has our performances on June 29th and 30th, so I will really really be enjoying the cruise!

yes we are doing FE. She is into Ballet, Tap, Jazz, HipHop and Lyrical. After we finished this recital, she turned to me and said she wants to do competition again next year and wants to do it again.

How did she do? Wednesday - Sunday --- that's a LOT of dancing!!

Yes, it is a lot of dancing. Wednesday - Friday was rehearsals. So for some of the dances it was the first time they have done it on stage or with costumes. Thursday and Friday are crazy because they do the technical of each dance. Thursday is show A and Friday is Show B and they do a technical blocking and then a full run through. On show days they do 2 shows each day. I estimated she danced 70 3-4 minute dances. She was tired, but loved it.

I feel like I need a vacation from dance :rotfl:

FYI- I saw a post on another thread from someone who cruised last week. She said that the Victoria day show was changed to 2pm and 5pm. Hopefully they'll do that for us too.

Thanks Connie! Those look better than mine. I was just going to print mine up this weekend for the FE. I'm going to use one of yours if you don't mind, if nobody else here is. I'd hate to make duplicates....
Speak now or forever hold your peace...

I am!!! Actually my whole family is!!

I requested customized graphics for our cruise and was intending to make gadgets with these graphics for the FE gifts. Unfortunately, I had to go to Plan 2 because my deadline was have everything done by last weekend. I'll still make myself a few magnets but feel free to use the graphics!!

Of course, feel free to use them. I posted them here so Milliepie's hard work won't be wasted and her talents can be appreciated.

Laura - Milliepie was very backlogged. I think it took her a month to fill my request for the Frozen Fireworks designs. I stopped checking after a while but she was nice enough to alert me with a PM.

Ah... Milliepie's work is good. Printing now and will probably make a magnet!

I have extras of what I have for adults, just not enough for all five kids.

I can't believe we are in the last two weeks!! I have been throwing all my cruise stuff in a laundry basket as I come across it (long underwear, travel sized Off, hiking boots, etc). Now I am going to have to start organizing it!

We tried to make a countdown calendar with Mickey head paint chips, but Home Depot stopped carrying them. Instead we got a rainbow assortment of square chips and drew water molecules - oh thats right school is out- I mean Mickey Mouse heads on them and taped them up to the pantry door to tear off each day.

I also went to Hobby Lobby last week to purchase material for my FE hanger. I do not sew. I hotglue pretty well though! So, I am taking all pieces to Grandma's house this week and hopefully between the two of us we can get something together. While at Hobby Lobby I found the greatest tshirt iron on for a baby shirt. "The bigger the bow, the better the mama" I had to laugh because my daughter has had matching bows since day 1. (ok maybe day 60). Her current favorites are those curly ones- the biger the better.

FE gifts- I have a few extras just in case.

In the next two weeks we will be in Iowa celebrating my parents 30th wedding anniversary and my grandparents 60th. Then we have ice skating competition on the Saturday before we leave.

Can't wait to put faces with names!
