From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

Hello everyone!

Had a good weekend, we definitely splurged with pizza to go with our football watching, but I managed to get myself on the treadmill for an hour both Saturday and Sunday to meet my step goal!

Ended up going back to a calorie counting app since I was putting in all our recipes to try and calculate WW points values - seemed like too much work!

I'm using Loseit right now, and I would love to see if anyone has reviews of it. The calorie goal seems a lot more reasonable than MFP, but I'm wondering if it will still be as effective for weight loss.

My goal this week is to try my hardest to lose 1 lb and write down some measurable goals for November. In addition, I am going to work to log everything in my app, even those mini Halloween candies that don't seem like they should "count" :p

Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!

QOTW - October 24/25

Today's question is one that really got me thinking! Are you interesting in weighing less or in losing weight?

I am interested in losing weight. Believe me, if there was a magic button to press and magically lose 100 pounds, I would press it. I know there is work to maintain a lower weight, but I really want the excess weight gone.

Also, my weigh-in for the week comes in at 273! While I did not lose any weight from last week, I am still at 115% of my weight goal! I have been terrible about drinking water (the cold weather makes me make hot chocolate!) and I have continued to eat fast food a couple times. Overall, still at 90% for the month :)

I definitely am interested in losing weight. I started the month at 200 pounds. I am only 14 and 5'5" tall. I am now at 195. I am going to Disney for my sweet 16 in 2 years. I want to be 100-110 pounds by then. At the rate I'm losing weight, I will be 105 pounds and perfectly healthy!!!

HELLO, Friends!! Checking in from Alabama! The DH :woohoo:and I are en route to WDW! We did NOT leave at 7am as intended... More like 4pm LOL. Which means we are looking at a 430am-ish arrival - ugh! Still intending to rope drop EPCOT on Monday, though!!! We were just so exhausted this morning that we couldn't get ourselves in gear. Unfortunately, we didn't get any extra sleep during that delay LOL. We just took our sweet time finishing our packing. Ah, well. Either way we are on our way!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for the weekend!! Someone somewhere took pity on us - it rained all Friday night and Saturday morning, but stopped around 11am, and didn't start again until the middle of the reception. Then stopped again after a little while, which means we were able to have our ceremony and our send off outside like we wanted!! YAY!

I am working on catching up on reading during DH's driving stretches, but may not get the responses done from my phone. I am so proud of the numbers I'm seeing though, and even more proud of everyone's amazing attitudes!! Congratulations to everyone so far - lets do it up big this week!!!
You are just glowing! So lovely!

Awww..... what a LOVELY picture!! Congratulations!! Truly you look beautiful!! The colors are great!! If all went as planned you should be waiting in line for ROPE DROP at Epcot right now!! WOOHOOO!! Have a WONDERFUL, THRILLING, RELAXING, FUN, EXCITING, LOVING honeymoon and we will see you when you get back!!

I thought of you often over the weekend..... glad things went well! Can't wait to get the WHOLE STORY!

Ahhh. I'm glad a new week is starting. I'm happy to have this past one over. Thank you all again so much for all he love and support. I know I didn't respond to all of the messages but I read everyone and appreciate them more than you could possibly know. :)

DH is feeling MUCH BETTER and is starting to taper down on the prednisone. He is heading back down to his parents by himself for a few days next week to try and see if he can get a better idea of what is going on with MIL. The WDW trip is going to remain shelved but I'm still toying with the idea of going down by myself for a few days in April. I've never done Disney solo and the idea scares me a bit so I need to think on it some more. And we are still scheduled for a lightning fast trip Disneyland in January.

Glad things are looking up!!

And after seeing all of these photos, I think I need to investigate Bermuda. Gorgeous!!!

IT was beautiful! Too bad that the word "Bermuda" is kind of a cliche for a 1990's honeymoon destination or just a cruise destination. It was absolutely gorgeous with a HUGE selection of beaches, easy to get around, and some nice history in St. Georges..... plus it is a shorter flight from Boston to Bermuda than from Boston to Orlando!!

LOL. I love these guys!! I want to get up and dance with them!

Fingers crossed that this week is WONDERFUL for your physical self and your mental self!!

Small victories to celebrate today:
  1. Took Dad out for his 64th birthday at iHop and I managed to point out a filling breakfast that didn't break my WW points. Kids meals are excellent alternatives for regular meals! I had no idea that 5 silver dollar pancakes would fill me up all day! (10 WW points, vs nearly 30 for a full-size meal)
  2. I was a naughty girl and went to Nordstrom today to try on dresses while I was shopping for a few work items to replace the stuff that's too big. Did not try on Kate Spade, as that is my goal dress and I cannot do that until I lose another 12 pounds. But I zipped up two size 8's today! Maggy London and Betsey Johnson brand dresses - very similar to Kate Spade. Insane. My goal was to be in a single-digit Kate Spade dress and I think I can do this. (I was a size 14 or 16 when I started this process!)
  3. I did find some super cute things for my Disney trip in December -- size Small's at Roxy. (long skirt and t-shirts - both size small). I tried on the jeans there too and was in a size 28, which is a size 6 equivalent, which proves that Old Navy doesn't vanity size their jeans. Insane.

While I don't see the results when I look in the mirror, I see them in the clothing.

That Kate Spade dress will be mine in no time!! :) We are fairly certain that I was ~160 in my engagement photos and 150 at my wedding -- so to know that I am close to my reference weights in photos makes this process so much easier in the home stretch.

HUGE victories!! I cannot imagine being able to eat OP at IHOP!! Good job!!

Good job on your plan for the week!

******************************

Morning all! Did NOT get called to work today, so I will head to the grocery store in about an hour for some dire necessities and then come home and be a busy costume creator all day! I didn't get nearly anything done on it yesterday because I wasn't sure that the pattern/template was going to fit DS and he was away all day.... so I had to wait until 7pm for him to come home.... but I'm glad I waited because it really was waaayyy too big.... so I went with the next size down I had printed and I will RUN with it today!

I wasn't nearly as OP over the weekend as I should have been, so I am definitely feeling like my 2 pound goal for this week is a REACH, at best. So praying for 1 pound and will work hard until the weekend to make that happen! It will be easier once we have lots of produce back in the fridge!

TTYL...............P

Happy Monday You All! I had a good food weekend...stayed on track. My sweetie did all the cooking....we don't live together....so when I'm at his house he cooks and visa versa. He does great stir fry! Going grocery shopping today for my lunch with a friend on Tuesday and to get all the fixin's for our Halloween weekend at my daughters. I've planned well for all the food along with a light dessert and my health cookies. The health cookies are SCRUMTIOUS! I hit one out of the park with these. I do have to actually calculate the calories...will do that this week...just really need to look up the flour (spelt) for an accurate count....but they are super healthy....not empty calories. I am just so impressed with everyone's dedication in developing a healthier lifestyle! If we just keep thinking....what does my body need vs. what does my brain say I want....we can fight this MONSTER! It is just like a monster...because it can tear us apart if we aren't prepared to kill it! Sorry for the brutal analogy...but it is accurate and....after all....it is Halloween week! Lots of love to all of you!

Those are some HUGE victories! Good news about IHOP. I wish more restaurants would let anyone order off the kid menu. Even when not counting points or calories, sometimes a person just does not want that much food.

Kate Spade is going to be in your closet in no time!!!

You did a great job combining splurging with healthy habits! I've never tried LoseIt but I do like MFP for calorie counting (although WW as a whole is keeping me happy right now, I tend to double track). I definitely did need to change my calorie goal in MFP though - the calculations based on losing two pounds a week were far to aggressive for me. I'd love the weight to disappear overnight but I don't want to crack in the process. Having MFP set to lose 1 pound a week and eating all of my WW weekly points and most of the activity points seems to strike that balance for me (at least when I don't blown those limited standards).

I am interested in losing weight. Believe me, if there was a magic button to press and magically lose 100 pounds, I would press it. I know there is work to maintain a lower weight, but I really want the excess weight gone.

I want to kill the monster too! No use leaving it alive to come back and haunt us. We all know what happens in horror movies if the monster has even one breath left. :)

QOTD - October 26

Today marks the last Monday of the October challenge! Where oh where have the weeks flown?

What are you going to do to make today special for you?

I've got a bad case of the hormonal nasties today. Woe to anyone or anything that crosses me over the next few hours. My morning tea is mint chocolate truffle (YUMMY) and I've got my 80s dance playlist queued up for the train ride. My special treat is a lavender bath bomb and a novel that will be waiting for me after work. Sometimes a girl just needs to submerge herself in the bathtub for a while. Plus DWTS is on tonight!!!

Okay...no weight loss last week. But...this week down 4 pounds. It's just so weird how that works! So, I've lost all the weight from my cruise gain of seven pounds and I'm down an additional pound! Whoohoo! Here's a cruise pic to make up for last year's gigantic bathing suit picture. Much better I think?View attachment 130564

You look fantastic! Congrats!

You know...I just have to say how distorted perception can be. I've experienced this in the past and I still have it. I still feel I look fat in this year's photo! I can remember...years ago...feeling fat in photo's of me in a swimsuit when my son was two years old. I still remember the photo and thinking how fat I looked. Then, quite a few years later, and a much heavier weight....I saw the same photo again...and thought...."OMG....you were so skinny then, how could u think u looked fat?" I know it's not full blown body dimorphic disorder, but it does have some of the features. Body image is so emotionally charged. Does any one watch "My Big Fat Fabulous Life?" She has started a "NO BODY SHAME" campaign. I love this girl...her energy and enthusiasm is inspirational. I highly recommend it, if you haven't seen it.

I can definitely relate to this. I look back at pictures of myself when I was much small ernad think "Man, I would kill to look like that again" but I know when I was in that moment that I was feeling fat and awful. I wish I knew how to make it stop!

Just a quick check in! Things are starting to calm down here but I haven't had much time for "me-time" of any sort. I hope I'll have a bit of time to truly check in later today.

In the meantime, I'm back down to 200.8, which puts me squarely back in overweight. I'll take my card back now @courtneybeth. Thank you very much for keeping it safe! 52% for the month!!

Congrats on being overweight! You're so close to Onederland!!

The DH :woohoo:and I are en route to WDW!

Yay!!! Congrats on your wedding! You looked beautiful and that dress is gorgeous!

Congrats on your small wins! I love the days when you feel like you're just killing it.

What are you going to do to make today special for you?

I'm wearing a cute new shirt to work today that I got over the weekend. It's not anything super special but I love wearing new clothes!

___

Check in for the weekend - sorry just posting this today - up 1 pound so I'm at 30%. Pretty frustrating because I felt like I actually had a decent week last week although I sabotaged myself on Thursday and Friday. I feel like I'm stalling, I've been playing with gaining/losing the same 2 pounds for a month now. I need some fresh motivation!

Today marks the last Monday of the October challenge! Where oh where have the weeks flown?

What are you going to do to make today special for you?

Not sure if I am doing anything to make it special, but I will be on my former apartment community to get me the full amount of refund owed. Apparently they credited and debited the deposit, which results in a net zero instead of the $889 that's owed. My favorite part is the letter that "ensures accuracy" - - second time they've screwed this up! #fail

I think I'll go to Epcot. ;)

Eat a Croque Glace for me in "France" - it's definitely worth the calories. ENJOY THE TIME WITH YOUR HUSBAND and share loads of pics. :D

I am definitely going to eat a Croque Glace...when I get there in November! I just found out about this treat on the Disney Boards...had never heard of it before. Sounds superlicious! My goal today is to "just stick with it!" Every day is a good day if I stay on track. My sweetie and I talked about what kind of penny candy we used to eat as kids. We kept coming up with more and more, some I barely remember until we took this walk down memory lane. It was kinda fun to think about all the junk that made us feel so happy! Then....we ate yogurt, LOL! Went for a walk today....the first one since hurting my back. It was really sore just walking...but did it anyway. Making my health cookies later. Sticking to the two a day plan, which I feel great about. Bought a pair of jeans that I didn't try on yet. They look small....and may have to take them back...but they were a good buy and they are cute! Everyday is a battle you can win, even if you don't win the entire war!

HI everyone, I had a fantastic weekend.. stayed within my allotted points and got 40 pages finished :) at the scrapbook weekend.. my Wooo Hooo for Monday was that when I checked my blood sugar this morning instead of the normal 220+ it always is I was at 180! I haven't taken it for a few weeks so I was pleasantly surprised with that number.. so not a good one but a good one for me!

@JacknSally - what a beautiful picture of your wedding party, thanks for sharing it with us.. and have a FANTASTIC day in Epcot!

@ThistleMae - They may have the Gingerbread ice cream flavor out. Not sure depending on when you're going, but it's amazing. You can't go wrong with any flavor. It's on my Top 3 Treats of eating when I'm there in December.
  1. Croque Glace - EPCOT France
  2. Be Our Guest Strawberry Cupcake - MK
  3. Some sort of Cupcake - Contempo Cafe at Contemporay

Husband and I have a tradition of sneaking off to the Contempo Cafe to eat one of their amazing cupcakes during our stay. It'll be easier to eat there this time because we're actually at the hotel. Ha! The Dirt Cup Cupcake is divine.
