From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

AWWW big hugs to all the ladies who are having bad/stressful weeks.. sending pixie dust for easier days ahead..

Yay for @JacknSally you are in the home stretch!!

QotD Thursday - fave hot beverage is Dunkin Donuts hot Pumpkin coffee.. too bad it's like a bazillion points.. I also am a sucker for dark hot chocolate with a scoop of marshmellow fluff on top..

QotD Friday - I have planned and shopped for all Breakfast and Lunches for next week as I am going away to an Fri - Sun Scrapbook retreat (its 40 mins from my house but I go with 3 girlfriends and we share a room - GREAT FUN) so Hubs and DS are on their own.. I'm sure they will manage.. I have a plan for my weekend food (breakfast included at the hotel - Eggs, light bread, fruit and oatmeal) Lunch is also included (sandwich platter and salad and fruits) but Dinner is on our own.. Normally we don't take a long time away from out spot so I'm sure I'll be ok.. so the retreat is a both and obstacle and fun...

OH and speaking of OUT laws mine are piece of work too both on disability (both with congestive heart failure and FIL also with some nerve thing).. our state recently passed a bill about being able to carry concealed weapons without a permit and FIL went right out and got a holster and stuff for his pistol and showed up last week to go shopping with Hubs at LL BEAN and was "packing" I was sooooooo glad to not have been there - he is ridiculous .. now for MIL she is severely overweight (congestive heart failure so she uses being out of breath as a crutch to NOT do anything I mean make someone else get up and get her a drink in the livingroom room cause walking to the kitchen makes her out of breath) and hates to leave her house EVER!!! when they do leave the house FIL must drop her at the door, then park 2 feet away in the HC spot then they both get buggy CARTS.. it's soo embarrassing to be anyplace with them, However let me say this FIL can walk around Cabela's or LL BEAN for HOURS - like up to 4 and not need a buggy cart, I personally think he is just milking the system.... (my mom needed both her hips replaced and NEVER once rode in those carts) there is a surprise 60th BDAY party being thrown for her and her identical twin sister (who is much more active and love to be social) on this Sunday afternoon.. I am pretty sure that they are going to end up telling her so she'll come.. in the 7 yrs Hubs and I have been married she has only been to our mobile home 1 time .. YEP ONCE in the 4.5 yrs we have lived there.. Our first year married we spent Christmas day separate because she guilt tripped him into coming down there so FAMILY could spend it together - I was like UM I have 2 kids who are my family and they are coming for Xmas brunch like always and Hubs is now part of this family but then she hung up and was bawling and in a tizzy so his dad called him back and told him that he was going to cause his mom to have another heart attack (oh we spent Thanksgiving with them) and they could come here but I was NOT stopping MY family tradition to fit around her so we fought and had separate Christmas that year.. (we were just there on Xmas eve!!!) that was the last time that EVER happened.. I just do my own thing now, if they don't like it I'm sorry but they are not my priority my own family is (my DD & DS, Hubs and my parents/sister) HUM that was longer then I expected.. HAAAA Sorry... guess I had some pent up stuff to get off my chest..

So moral of the story is VENT anytime you need to about the OUT LAWS haaaaaa ..

Good morning everyone!

I had a crazy weigh in this morning - after weighing in at 150.2 some time yesterday (because I hadn't actually weighed to start the challenge), this morning my scale said 146.8??

Now, I've been trying to cut back a little and exercise more, but that seems weird. However, the scale was very consistent - I stepped on and off about 4 times to make sure that's what it said.

Do you think that it's accurate? It seems like a lot of weight at once to come off (though granted, I weighed yesterday after eating lunch and stuff, so there's that), but at the same time, the scale was consistent.

Basically, should I use that as my check-in for the week, or do you guys think it's an anomaly?

If you stepped off and on a few times and that was the same reading then I would count it.. :)

Ps No weigh in for me this week, I will post my final next Sat 10/31 after my WW meeting ..
I am off to my retreat.. Have a great weekend see you all Monday..

Morning all! Happy Friday! Just wanted to pop on to say I'm working double jobs today, so other than maybe a break at lunchtime, I won't have any chance to pop on here today to play catch up.

Reporting in my post-vacation weight.... happy to say I am only up 2 pounds (exactly). While that is more than I wanted, it was definitely LESS than I was anticipating! Especially since the vacation was much less active than it was originally going to be (due to Mom's ankle). That being said, I will work hard to get those 2 off by the end of the month (aka, one week!!). Off to read my kindergarten plans!........P

Anyone had the problem of having a top that starts off as "too snug" when you try it on the first time in your closet... and when you're ready to wear it it's actually "too big" and you've missed the window of opportunity completely?

That's me today with my sweater. I bought this super cute sweater a couple of years ago and I never got to wear it because I ballooned up too quickly. Now that I'm smaller it's too big! I still opted to wear it because it'll be the first time I've actually worn it. And the last. Ha!

Had to go to the Disney store yesterday to buy a few new shirts for Disneyland/WDW. They had some that were $15 each and they're cute! Picked up a Disgust shirt that says "Don't wanna talk about it" and an Elsa shirt; hubs got the Anger shirt that looks like he's cursing. Ready to lose these last 13 pounds so I can get clothes and keep them!
Absolutely happened to me with many cute items! Glad it happened but sort of disappointed because some of the things I really liked.....like my way to gigantic Disney Sweatshirt! I even washed and dried it so it would shrink. Still too big and I'm wearing it anyway....paid $ 50.00 for it at Disney and just never wore it. It will be big enough to put layers under it, when it's really cold. But I'll buy a new one this year, that does fit! You keep going girl....it's just amazing to try stuff on and think....."God, I must have been a really big girl!"

First: Congratulations for your weight loss!!

If you weighed yourself at a different time during the day yesterday then it is no surprise that you see a difference yesterday. I personally always weigh myself in the morning, after I got up and used the bathroom (sorry if that is TMI). And I am not wearing any clothes when I step on the scale. Especially drinking fluids has a large influence on how much you weigh. One pint of liquid equals about a pound. So, timing makes a lot of difference!

Besides that, a lot of people find that their weight fluctuates from day to day. Your body is sometimes retaining more water, sometimes less. I personally find that on the day after an especially vigorous exercise I tend to be heavier, not lighter. But I also know it is just water weight. Hormones have a huge influence on water retention as well.

And finally, especially starting out on a new weight loss program often brings big results at the very beginning.

So, all in all, the number today is definitely ok. Try to find a set time for your weigh ins and don't be scared if the scale jumps up again tomorrow. I personally find it helpful to track my weight on my phone via an app. This is gives me a graph to look at where I can see how the weight is going down over time, even if I found some "mystery pounds" suddenly over night.

Coffee.... hot with a splash of lowfat milk..... or tea.... lots of different ones (green, black, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chamomile) with a few drops of stevia.... and my special blend "hot beverage" (kind of a cappuccino/hot chocolate/coffee blend I make myself from a few different things).... in that order!

****************

Hi friends! Got a bit busier here yesterday than I thought I would be, so no time to pop on to catch up on the chatter.... sorry! I am definitely sending out HUGS  to a few friends.... HIGH FIVES to another few:wave: and WOOHOOs party:to others.... I saw some great scale numbers posted, some definite STRESS moments, and just all around news from a lot of you! Sorry I missed so much!

Coming up on some WEDDINGS in the next few days.... I believe we have a :bride: and a :groom: in our group, correct? Prayers going out that these next many days are filled with LOVE, PEACE, and CALMNESS! It will all come together and then you will be off to Disney for the FUN PART!!

Anyhooo..... here are just a few pictures from my Bermuda time.... it was OUTSTANDING! If you like beaches... GO TO BERMUDA! Don't waste time visiting the city of Hamilton however.... yuck. Didn't care for it at all.... but every beach we visited was GORGEOUS. The snorkeling was wonderful (parrotfish, green sea turtles, tangs, squid, octopus, corals.... SO COOL!), the people were SO FRIENDLY everywhere and the food was not QUITE as expensive as I anticipated.

Last picture of us after our last lunch with DD at her Station (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences).

So there you go..... if you were expecting BIKINI pictures, sorry!

Working tomorrow, but I should have some weekend time to catch up here... and of course, to report in whatever number the scale will show tomorrow. Yikes!............P
I simply adore Bermuda. Your right, the beaches are spectacular....the pink sand beautiful and the snorkeling....extraordinary! Here is a pic of mine from last summer...I was at my largest weight in this one....hate to look at it.....but the trip was phenomenal.

I'm jealous....I wish I had a scrapbooking retreat I could attend! It sounds really cool. And yes...the eating of food anywhere but home is always a challenge.

Okay...no weight loss last week. But...this week down 4 pounds. It's just so weird how that works! So, I've lost all the weight from my cruise gain of seven pounds and I'm down an additional pound! Whoohoo! Here's a cruise pic to make up for last year's gigantic bathing suit picture. Much better I think?100_3186.jpg

Congratulations! That cruise picture is fabulous :D :D

And thanks for the advice about the scale - I finally moved it from our second bathroom so I will actually use it. When I am keeping track, I do usually weigh in right after I get up, so I'll keep doing that and see what happens :)

Weekly weigh-in - lost 1.6 lbs. I would not have been so happy about 1.6 loss a few years ago - but now I'm thrilled! Continuing with my WW plan and losing slowly but steadily. Loss for the month so far is 3.3 /5 pounds, so 66%.

Beautiful pic, ThistleMae!

Have a great weekend, everyone! Just keep swimming!

Yup, the big loss (especially for week one) isn't so big as to be unbelievable..... but great job!! What is most important about weighing in is that you are consistent with time of day/day of week.

*********************

Hey all! Morning Kindergarten done, lunch break now and then afternoon students. Then off to just a few hours at my other job..... but I have lost all enthusiasm for it since I am no longer working for "Bermuda Money"! But of course, there is always TUITION MONEY to work for, right?? :sad2:

You can work for your next cruise vacation! I have another one planned for January of 2017! Why not!

Unfortunately, I haven't found a sugar substitute that I like that is healthy. Stevia is one of the best, for natural, but I don't like the taste. I do use Splenda. Until I can adjust to a more healthy brand, it's Stevia for now. In addition to Earl Grey....I do drink diet Hot Chocolate as a treat.

Don't give up on stevia for now. I had to try a few different types/brands before I found one that was agreeable to my taste buds. One of the tricks is using VERY LITTLE of it. It is so super crazy sweet that just a few drops goes a long way....and if you use too much it gets VERY bitter! I had to learn to like a few things a bit less sweet (tea, yogurt, and oatmeal primarily) in order to use the stevia. But it wasn't a really hard adjustment. I find that just 3-4 drops in my tea and 4-5 drops in my yogurt and oatmeal (especially if I am adding fruit) are more than enough! I'll post a link to the brand I like (we get it drop shipped from Amazon) later....................P

You know...I just have to say how distorted perception can be. I've experienced this in the past and I still have it. I still feel I look fat in this year's photo! I can remember...years ago...feeling fat in photo's of me in a swimsuit when my son was two years old. I still remember the photo and thinking how fat I looked. Then, quite a few years later, and a much heavier weight....I saw the same photo again...and thought...."OMG....you were so skinny then, how could u think u looked fat?" I know it's not full blown body dimorphic disorder, but it does have some of the features. Body image is so emotionally charged. Does any one watch "My Big Fat Fabulous Life?" She has started a "NO BODY SHAME" campaign. I love this girl...her energy and enthusiasm is inspirational. I highly recommend it, if you haven't seen it.

Thanks....I do have the liquid one, which I find I like much better than the powders. But.....I'm working on it....it does have a weird after taste...yuck!

I was going to ask you whether you seriously think you need to lose any more weight! You look so fabulous in that cruise pictures - and the contrast to the Bermuda picture (thanks for those pictures by the way, Bermuda was never on my list but due to @pjlla and you, I am now thinking I really want to visit!) is so big! So, you really have no reason at all to feel fat!! I know oneself is always the most critical, but just look at your shapely legs and your waist!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the lovely compliments! I am very close to my goal weight at this point and I do feel so much better than at the much heavier weight. Some days I think I look good and other days....the misperception kicks in. And of course I have the baggie skin from the weight loss, so I don't look good naked....LOL! It is what it is!
