From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Susan - great tags!! Sorry I missed this before.

Getting sick of the rain. Takes a bit of the joy out of moving.

Oh and my new docs arrived today!!

Great Picture! funny!!

can someone remind me what the limits on bringing wine on board are? or where to find the info? thanks!

Sorry if I am telling you something you already know. When you board they will give each in your party a "card to the world". The card is the only way to make purchases on board. Although they take your info on-line, they ask you to print out the payment authorization sheet with you to check-in. Some people state that they are going to pay in cash. If you are doing that you can either give cash and they will post it to your account or when you reach a $200 debt they send you a message to your room and you must go pay off the account before you can charge more.

You can ask to get a copy of your account anytime during the cruise and they will be provide you with a copy the last night. They break down how much was charged to each card.

It is easy to just hand a card over (somehow it is even easier then giving a credit card) They first cruise we went on our final statement couldn't be slipped under the door - it was to big!!

OH MY! That is my fear. I am going to try and keep a running total of recipts so I dont get that big a surprise.

As for how much wine you can bring on board, I dont know that there is a limit, but you have to schlep it around until your room is ready. You have to carry it on, it can not be in your checked baggage.

Disney and Princess have never said anything to us about wine in our checked luggage. Due to TSA rules, we always put it in our checked and didn't know about any rules against it on the ship. No one ever said anything.
Maybe we were just lucky or because the saw the airline tags assumed it was ok and didn't check it.

no, the dcl website says same thing - if they find it in your luggage, they'll take it out and give it to you when you get off. you have to carry it on and schlep it (fully for 10 years my minivan had a license plate that said 4SCHLEPN - now my mercury milan has it) till you get to your room. i just didnt know how much you could bring. i have the advantage of my kid being on board so onece on board if rooms not ready she can take it. i'd check it for the plane but i'm having it shipped to beach club from a website. fla is one place you can have it shipped.
thanks!

What website are you using? Is it just wine or all alcohol?

We usually take one of those wine boxes with us. It elimates worrying about a bottle breaking. It fits well in our carryon.

Today I got a notice from the company that I ordered the Mexican shirt for my husband from that it is on back order until mid Jan!!!!!!!! I told them to cancel it.I need it before then. Does anyone have any suggestion where I can get one for about $20.

WEDDING over it was wonderful; even the rain didn't dampen our joy. So blessed to have a daughter now.

Did loads and loads :laundy: yesterday and stayed home watching the rain. Online shopping has been a big help plus DH who retired Just last week. He's running all the little errands!!!:thumbsup2

Four days left of work till Christmas. The honeymooners will be back and I should have four boys + one daughter under one roof for one day  For me, relationships, the people you love and invest time in are the blessings of life.

Chippermerlin--felt that one bang last night. Made the dogs become unglued. Aftershocks--no like :scared1:

Have a great day everyone

There is nothing like a loving family! Be sure to bring pictures!:grouphug:

I went to see Narnia today and enjoyed it very much. Tomorrow is cooking and wrapping day for sure.

My neighbor called to say the movers picked up my kitchen table & chairs today. I am so excited! Liz knows they are coming, but I did not tell her they have been picked up. I hope they get here before we leave!

I hope the rain stops soon in California. My friends from Irvine sent me an email today and they are quite tired of it. They have made lots of plans for us upon our arrival so hoping for nice weather.:littleangel:

Sherri, hope your dd is doing better. You have both been on my mind.

Can't wait to meet everyone!

I got one for DH on eBay but now realize that we are going to Palo that night. I'm still bringing it incase dining plan changes.
If you want to avoid eBay, Kohls has some for $22.50 but you can use coupon code GIFTGIVING for 30% off (or TAKEOFF20 for 20% if you don't have a Kohl's charge card.). It would be close to $20 with shipping.

JCPenney has orange in size small and medium only.
Blair has some too - any size but only lavender color.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faqs/prohibited-items/food-storage-containers/

it talks about what food and stuff and other things (if you go up a url) are prohibited. Here's part of it:

available upon request through Guest Services. In addition, Guests can request hot water to be delivered to their stateroom at any time from Room Service.

Alcohol is permitted on board. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Guests who request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne, wine or liquor that has been brought onboard will be charged a corking fee of $18.00 per bottle.

Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

Oh boy! Can I just share with all of you that going to school full time and working full time makes keeping up with the boards VERY difficult? I'm sorry I've been out of the loop for so long. I'm going to be taking some time to try and catch up on some things, but if I've missed anything that anyone thinks is immediately pertinent to me please feel free to PM me. I really hope all of you are having a wonderful December and getting excited for the cruise! I've missed being able to check in on everyone. I know you've all heard about this frozen tundra we call Minnesota so I wont bore you with more details on that :)

Good Evening Cruisers...

I feel like I was reading one of those awesome books from when I was a kid where you would press a sound on the side of the book at different parts that matched the story! that was great!:happytv:

I think my office will be happy to see me leave for this trip so I quit talking about how excited we are to go.:banana::banana:

Looks like I'll be booking 3 cabins for the Mar 4, 2012 Mexican cruise so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a KSF offer like they had for Mar 2011. We'll have 6 adults and 6 kids, nice adult to kid ratio.:thumbsup2

I guess I better go help DH with the X-mas wrapping! See you all soon!:woohoo:

thats cool
I think one problem is now they are so backlogged, but i hope your friend gets away on time or close to. It really has been ridiculous that the biggest airport just hasn't coped, however we don't normally get this kind of weather, so investing in equipment etc to cope with it just hasn't been on the radar!!! It might be now of course.

Thank you.:thumbsup2

How much baggage allowance do you have this time?

.

Im switzerland I think tthey have some heated runways:thumbsup2
same as last time, but this time we will be going to walmart so that will save a ton of wt.
Still cloudy and rainy up here, too. Alan, wish your folks a Happy Anniversary. Sorry we won't get to meet your mom. Glad you liked TRON - our kidlet liked it and DH is planning on seeing it on the cruise.

Today's excitement: at 9:28 am, we heard a BIG bang and the house had one sharp jolt.:scared1: Turns out that there was a magnitude 3.1 quake just 1.39 miles from our house. Wow! We've never been that close to an epicenter before. Didn't even know there was a fault at that location. Fortunately, no one seems to be hurt, and nothing fell off the shelves at nearby stores. If you were in a car, you didn't feel it - as Goofprincess reported. (For those of you familiar with our area, the epicenter was right behind Rancho Shopping Center in Los Altos.) I am happy to have small earthquakes, rather than one like the Loma Prieta quake of 1989, which caused part of the Bay Bridge to collapse, etc.

Des, hope you were able to find homes for the puppies. I'd love to have another dog, but until I stay home for any length of time, it's not feasible.

Goofprincess's son's wedding was wonderful. We had such a good time. I'll let the "mother of the groom" fill everyone in on the details.:yay:
:scared1:
Just checked the latest info on Heathrow - 10 hours ago posting - says no flights until tomorrow. We're worried about our friend who is supposed to leave London Tuesday morning. She has a lay-over here at SFO - on her way to New Zealand - so I am planning (hoping) to get to spend Wednesday with her. However, from what I'm reading, it's doubtful she will get out. Sigh. Poor thing - she really needs this vacation.

I hope all the UK members of the cruise stay safe and warm!:grouphug:
I wouldnt hold out much hope, but fingers crossed.
Yay, one adopted puppy!:woohoo: We'll keep the good thoughts coming for the other two.

Our neighbor just found out they won an award that's presented to them in Atlanta so they're going to WDW for a few nights afterwards. I was able to get them a studio at SSR for the end of January.:thumbsup2

:yay: great news.

I had a rather interesting night last night, the folks next door who we share the drive with have there own drive so they NEVER use the shared drive UNLESS ofcourse they cant be bothered to clean the snow from there drive........... bit of a p**s take really, they watched /waited on len cleaning it yesterday then started using it.:rolleyes1

I never do our drive til they do theres..... Its like chess, but lens so nice he doesnt think they would do that.
I mean why cant they just come and help us and then we could both use our drive, but no... if they are moving snow its on there drive...:upsidedow I just dont get it.
Air was blue around here last night and I am not talking about the temps.

Can someone tell me when did I move to Seattle? Today was day four in a row of rain. Tomorrow is day five in a row and it is supposed to get really bad. At LAX I believe we have gotten almost 5 inches since Friday.

AND another moan.......so after 44 hour shift, I finaly finished work monday am.
.... buses in edinburgh were going nowhere, so I walked from work to train station,3miles,,,got to train station... all trains were cancelled.

Walked to the bus station...... didnt know when the bus would come so had to just sit and wait and freeze, as I was wet with sweat after trying to walk through the snow for the last 2 hours,yuk..

Finally got a bus, then called my dad(what... would I do without him?)
He picked me up from the bus station and drove me home.
3 and a half hours to do 28 miles :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

And the disney shop was rubbish....
Didnt even have xmas crackers....
I am glad I was walking right past it and never went out my way to go in.

And this am I could hardly get out of bed because, :lmao: and this is my own fault and pretty funny.
I bought Lens xmas prezzy on way to work on friday, and it was really, really heavy, (he wmight read this so cant say what) I had it in my back pack. My shoulders and arms are SO sore this am!

-16 it said in the last night.
