I don't like them. I get a PTSD type reaction. I've tried twice. Chainsaws freak me out. Even when someone shows me they have no chain and the guard it still freaks me out. Most also have an asylum section that just hits too close usually. So nope not going any longer.

I’ve never been a big fan, but the last time I was chased by a worker with a snake who could tell I was terrified of the snake. Will never go again.

That said, I have friends who love them. Even friends who work/operate them. For those people, I’m glad they exist.

I love haunted houses and I actually went to an event at the weekend that had 4-5 houses to go in. I have quite a high tolerance when it comes to scares and I watch a lot of horror films, so I find these houses quite fun and entertaining. I think because I know they're not real, they don't bother me but I'd probably be a blubbering wreck in a real horror situation 😂

I used to love haunted houses. DH and I used to have so much fun with them. When DS was 16 we took him and a friend to Scarowinds and DH & I went thru most of the haunted houses while they waited in line for the most popular “big” ride.

Fast forward about 15-16 years. DH & I were in Gatlinburg. DH walks w a cane now and doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in his body. We were staying beside a haunted house and he suggested we go in sometime before dusk. We did. It was hilarious. We kept getting lost and the people working there kept having to direct us because we were getting turned around. The scariest part to me was the strips of cloth hanging down over some of the doors and me wondering how many people had dirty heads and went under them. And worrying that DH might trip. I came out laughing so hard at how ridiculous we were.

Was that the Mysterious Mansion in Gatlinburg? I used to love that as a kid. We went out there a few times and discovered that - it was always a must do. I love how they let you exlpore and find secret passages and stuff - at least that's how it was in the 80's. I know it's still there as I was in Gatlinburg recently, but sadly nobody wanted to do it.
