From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

We are going to the DisneyLand Resort after the cruise. I now have reservations on SuperShuttle. I'm thinking of cancelling it if there is Disney transportation. Anyone know?

just checking how people are getting to hotels post cruise, those staying around disney. We are staying at homewood suites and plan on doing the parks. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cindy

There are several shuttles - check on the Disneyland board on the DIS for suggestions. Supershuttle is one. Karmel is another. and there are more.

There is Disney transport for Disneyland hotels. You can arrange it through your TA or the cruise line.

We are using SuperShuttle as well, going to Grand Californian. Found a discount code for Visa cardholders (LE74Z) to save 15%. This is much cheaper than the Disney transfers for us. Hopefully the service is good.

Supershuttle is pretty good. My husband uses them all the time when he travels for business.

I am trying to find transfers also. From port to hotel and hotel to airport. The problem is we have a three yr old and are not real keen on hauling the carseat for two rides.

Has anyone used a shuttle service that will provide a carseat?

I can't believe I am still planning and making reservations with only three days left before we leave.:headache:

I can. What else are you going to do on a day like this? Grey skys and nothing on tv but football.

Hi, everyone! Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the deadline for letting me know if you want to participate in the "Scavenger Hunt." I need to give them our numbers so they can print up the packets. Here's a list of who I have participating so far. Please check to be sure I haven't missed you. I've had a LOT of PM's this week (Not to mention packing and getting ready to host a HUGE NYE party) and while I may have replied to you, I might have missed copying your name down on the list!!

Well, sadly on the Christmas decorations are down. I put everything up the first week of November, and my mom always thinks i'm nuts, but then she is the first one to say "it went so fast, good thing we did put things out early" when we take them down! Luckily, this is my 3rd consecutive January cruising, so it helps erase the Christmas being over blues.

How many suitcases is everyone bringing? We dont have to pay for bags, so we can check up to 2 each, but I'm hoping to get away with 3 between the 2 of us, although nearly one whole bag will be taken up with FE gifts! How about everyone else?

I was a scrooge this year for Christmas, tree never even went up and I did not get the Santa collection out either. Could not see much point when we left before Christmas.

Well, I am an overpacker so we had 2 checked bags each plus a carryon each. We flew first class so the bag without the laptop was checked as well but on the way home we only get the 2 each. I just can't seem to cut back, try as I might. I will say, I generally use what I take.

Scuba diving

We need to send the names of those wanting to go on the scuba dive excursion in Aruba. This is not the DCL excursion but the one we are organizing. Here is the info again if anyone is interested please PM me asap.

DH and I are both PADI MSDT scuba instructors so you are in very good hands with us.

January 10th will be a Monday. On this day we have a 2 tank dive at 8:30am on the south side of the island of Aruba.
I can do a ship wreck and a beautiful reef for your group.
. Now the divers will all have to be certified and have dove last within the year.
We can pick you all up at the cruise terminal outside the security gate as early as 7:30am no later than 7:50am.
Everybody have to bring with them there c-cards, log book, I.D. and Visa or Master card. No Amex.
After picking you up outside the cruise terminal we will drive to the dive center to do paperwork, get equipment, etc. then we will go to the boat for the trip, we’ll be back at 1:00pm.

The cost for 2 tank dive Own equipment is $70.00 plus Sur charge $5.95 and 1.5% sales Tax. Total $77.09
The cost for 2 tank dive need equipment is $70.00 rental $25.00 plus Sur charge $5.95 and 1.5% sales Tax. Total $102.46
This include: transportation, tanks, weights, mask, fins, boat trip, drinks and fresh fruits.

1 checked suitcase, 1 carryon duffel, 1 backpack to carry laptop. Not doing FE so I don't have to figure out how to carry gifts or take gifts home. I am on Jetblue on the way out so I can check one bag without paying. On the way home it is Southwest, which allows 2 checked bags without charges, so I have thrown a collapsible duffel in.

I am planning on a suitcase and carry on each plus my new camera bag that I got for Christmas.

I'm losing my mind!!!
Thanks to DCL's last minute room assignments, I have been frantically trying to update everything (along with helping DD finish her Independant Study for her time off) and I screwed something up. I awoke early this morning to finish, but before I got up I checked my email on my phone. While I was checking, my phone slipped and I dropped it. As it was falling, my thumb hit the "delete" button on an email that I REALLY needed...someone sent me a list of something, and I cannot remember WHO sent it or WHAT it was about!!! I have names and dates swimming in my mind so I'm not sure what I am missing.
Please help me!! If you sent me an email (not PM) in the last two days that included a list to something, can you resend it? Mary and Susan, it is not the FE or B-day lists...I have those =0)

Thanks so much!
Melissa

You might be able to go to your email delete folder and find it

I am hoping for 3 bags total with a small carry on for each of DD for entertainment items and one for me. DH will be toting the wine.:thumbsup2

One bag will be our shoes, costumes and FE/gift items. so we can partly fill that will souvies on our way home.

Oh you wonderful people and your well-wishes and pixie dust----it really worked!!!!!!! Ok, and maybe the vet opening him up and removing his spleen worked too:-)
It's so good to hear Bandit is doing well.

I used to be able to pack really light, in my days as a software consultant that was on the road at least 5 days/week. When DH and I went to Korea for a week for a formal wedding we managed to get by with 2 roll-aboards, 1 hanging garment bag, and 1 small backpack - all carry on.

Now, with kids and husband, I just can't seem to pack so light. We'll probably have a total of 4 large suitcases, 1 rolling garment bag, and 1 small suitcase (with stuff we'll need Wednesday night) checked. And then each of us will have a carry-on, too. It's amazing how much "stuff" is needed when you travel with small children, like a step stool so they can reach the sink in the bathroom.

For 4 weeks of travel - Two BIG suitcases (Thank you southwest) a roll-on of computer/medical/camera, and a carry bag containing Dimples, paperwork, hang tag, sunpass. Plus I shipped a box of books. I *will* use everything I take, though. I use the same packing list every time.

I didn't think that the airlines allowed liquids not put in the LITTLE bag. How does he bring the wine??
We will be buying wine in Florida to take on the cruise.

You can put wine in checked luggage. You cannot carry it on the plane (unless you are able to purchase some after you pass airport security).

If you put it in your checked luggage, make sure it is well wrapped and padded.

You should also be able to take the wine out before you send your suitcase to the ship, because you have to carry the wine on board.

Linda- I have a funny story about Mozz, you just reminded me of it when you mentioned Dimples. I think I already told you, I have a "little Mozz" that I actually got first at age 6, then I got "big Mozz" at age 7. Big Mozz is the one I sleep with every night, and I have travelled with him a lot too, but he is big- about 36 inches- and when packing got tight, for a few trips, I **gasp** put him in checked luggage to have more carryon space! I was young and foolish and thank goodness he was never lost or hurt, but looking back I cant believe I ever did that. So now, Big Mozz comes when we drive to vacations, and little Mozz gets the privelege of travelling on the flying vacations in my carryon, like this one. Thought you'd enjoy this as a fellow plush animal lover : )

This is the best piece of advice, well wrapped and padded, take it from me, I put bottles in my luggage for several years, thinking the clothes around them was good enough, til one trip I came home and had a bottle of rum all over everything- good thing it was white/clear rum and so it was only stinky, not stained, but still enough of a lesson for me to make sure things are packed much better- luckily for this trip, we are picking up our liquor in FL.

Two of us, 1 EX LARGE suitcase, 2 large and 1 medium, 2 carryons and 1 large tote.

Had a bit of a change of plans today. Was planning on having adult son (36) watch doggies while we were gone. Well he decided to party last night. Got kicked out of bar and arrested he is a mean drunk. I know he has a problem he says he just likes to drink. So called friend at lalst minute who will now stay at house and watch doggies. So much for family. I need someone who I can count on. My little Rita has never spent a night away from me so we shall she what happens. Spending tonight writing up all the instructions and doggie idiosyncrasies. Always something at the last minute. Gosh I cant wait for this cruise to start. I really need to get away.
