From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Shuttle should arrive in a bit under 12 hours. What better way to start the new year than a trip to Disneyworld? :rolleyes1

Wasnthere any response private messages sent out for registering for the scavenger hunt or scuba dive in Aruba? I'm worried my iPad isn't sending messages well

Yes I got t and replied. We do still have some space. I was away form my computer a couple of days, sorry.

Happy New Year, Happy Cruisers!

Just a few days now - I'm SO excited. And anxious. And apprehensive. EVEN though I anticipate going for months, I always freak out the last few days before leaving my husband. Can't seem to control it.

Lynne, I'm giggling at the mental picture of the 4 of you in a single bed.

Val, I think it's too darn bad they can't give you the Champagne get together information you need within a week of sailing.

Possible Alternatives:
  1. all go to lunch together on a sea day (your choice of day) in Tritons/Lumieres (whichever) and order champagne.
  2. All go to Promenade lounge on (your choice of) sea day and order champagne.
We could still get the photo - no organization or committment required, and no cost except for the glass of whatever you drink.

SERIOUSLY on semi formal night can DH just wear a button down shirt instead of a polo??? no jacket?

Absolutely. I think that is what DH is going to do. He will bring a suit for the formal nights, but for semi-formal he will just wear a nice shirt and tie or maybe add a vest.

That is fantastic. I better go and find my tiara. It is also nice that they will only charge us $15 instead of the $18 that was mentioned earlier on.

Mixology and Hawaiian Shirt Contest Update
I have heard from DCL and we are a go for the mixology and hawaiian shirt contest. However, they insist they will only offer the session to groups of 25. They will offer the tasting 3 times, 1-11, 1-13, and 1-15 at 4:00 in the Cadillac Lounge. The ship stated the cost as $5 each - I think this may be an error as the champagne girls is $15 but when I asked Dorothy she said " that is correct"

So I need to schedule you into 3 groups on three sea days, (I must have been very bad in a former life!!!) Just like the champagne girls they are telling me they do not allow anyone under 18 into the tasting and will only serve to those 21 and older. So, I will take requests for which session you would like until the session is filled or until Monday. Those who I have not heard from by then I will put into a session on my own and post once I have completed the assignment. I can not schedule you in more then one session as DCL has said they will not add another session.

How It Works: Are you interested in a private DCL mixology tasting? Learn all about how those colorful drinks of the day are made and just who gets to name them. For some additional fun, we’ll have a Hawaiian Shirt Contest, seems to go with all those little paper umbrellas and tropical fruit.

I can do either the 11th or the 13th, but I am tied up on the 15th with Mouse Adventure. I know that it was mentioned that this would work around other events and commitments, but I also know that there are two tasks that have to be done at certain times and I do not want to risk that they clash with the tasting. I am somewhat surprised at the $5. I know that we paid $15 on the WBTA. Either they forgot to add a 1 in front of that figure or this is their way of saying sorry for messing us around so much.

OK, since hearing about how someone broke their arm I have been uber careful. Took my adult kids to see the snow today. Had a great time. But when we got back to town to go eat I fall in the parking lot. Nothing broken thank God, but nasty scrapes on my knee and hands!

I want to thank Val and Jeff and all the gang who have gone over and above to organize these activities for us. You truly deserve the platinum mickey ears award.

OMG, that was close. I am glad that you are OK.

I want to second the big thank you for everybody who has helped to make this cruise special and memorable.

I have a question, do any of you take wine onboard for dinner? If so do you know what the corking fee is?

$18 a bottle, last I heard

On the WBTA the corking fee was $18. However, if you just bring a class of wine to the dining room every now and again, this is OK and you won't be charged.

I hope that everybody had a good start to the new year. It is suddenly hitting home how much I still have to do before I go on our vacation. I will finish off the kits for the jewellery making workshops today. This should not take long. I have done the time consuming bits. I just have to put some of the components into bigger bags. I am also going to make the last sample pieces.

I need to organize my Secret Mickey presents and develop a game plan as to when I distribute them. The Fish Extender gifts are all done and I just need to pack them.

I will put together a spreadsheet with all the confirmation numbers so that I have everything in one place. Then I will just have to print out everything and do the online check in for our flight, which I can't do until Tuesday.

Packing is scheduled for Monday. The last few things will be packed on Tuesday morning. I had been eyeing a couple of sun dresses for a while. They turned up in a sale, but I just was not quite sure. On Thursday I got a coupon code for a further 20% sale prices. At this stage this had become too good to pass up. I managed to get 3 sun dresses and a dressier maxi dress to wear at dinner one night for GBP36. For an extra Pound, I got express shipping with a guaranteed delivery on Tuesday morning. I am having this shipped to work so all I need to do is pack them.

I had a bit of a change of plan yesterday. I had a dinner reservation at Sanaa for the 5th. Everybody always said that I need to try this so I decided to go for it. I have to say though that the menu never really appealed to me. I was also not quite sure if I want to head over to Kidani for dinner after a long flight and a with a body clock that is telling me that it is long past mt bedtime. A couple of weeks ago I decided to check if there was availability at Boma. Boma is one of my favourite restaurants. Of course there was none. I don't know what possessed me to check yesterday, but there was an opening at Boma at 5:55PM. This is a bit earlier than I would have liked, but I decided to go for it. We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 2:50 PM and I am hoping that we will get to Jambo House in time for our reservation. We are taking Magical Express from the airport. We have done it plenty of time to get from the resorts back to the airport, but this will be the first time to get from the airport to the resort.

I felt lucky and decided to check out Palo reservations as well. We really want to do Palo dinner on Pirate Night. I could not get any reservation online for that night. They only had a 6:30 PM reservation for the first night or a 7:30 PM reservation for the day when we are in Costa Rica. Never mind, I am sure I will be able to get a reservation once we are on the ship. I did however notice that it said that the charge per person was $20. I thought that the old prices still applied for our cruise and would go up at the end of January.

Does anybody know if DCL are open today or tomorrow? I keep forgetting to ring them to add some onboard credit and to order a stateroom gift. If not, will I still be able to do this on Monday?

Right, I better quickly sent an update for the last jewellery workshop to everybody concerned now that we have all the other events confirmed and then I get back to my WBTA trip report. DH has told me that I would not be allowed to go on this cruise unless the trip report for the previous cruise was finished.

Well Jack was up bright and early this morning, of course I was up nice and late last night with my Dad and Stepmom. (I knew I should go to bed early, but there was a Doctor Who marathon on BBC America!)
I did manage yesterday to get Jack completely packed. I have our garment bag packed (kinda cheated, just took the dry cleaning and put it in). I have most of my clothes packed. Next will be the shoes. (Yes I am bringing the sparkly over the top ones). I'm going to wear the boots for pirate night when we board so I don't have to pack them (although they pack down to almost nothing). The weather is an issue with packing shoes. I know I'll need sandals, heels, the pirate boots, and sneakers. I really should pack hiking boots. I know my brother and geology, we'll be climbing all over Aruba and then the volcano in Costa Rica. Hiking Boots take up alot of room and while they are necessary for hiking/ climbing, I don't find them terribly comfortable to just walk around in, so I won't wear them to embarkation...

I am happy that Jeff and Val remained the squeaky wheels with planning all the get togethers. I think Dorothy from DCL who was trying to plan things shoreside was as frustrated as we were. I wish for the main meet and greet we were able to get it catered like we originally wanted, but at this point, we'll take what we can get, right?

For those of you who had a trying 2010, may 2011 be better. For those of you who had an excellent 2010, may this year continue that way. For those of you who were just happy to escape 2010 (like me) may it never find you again!

Just realized my Disney Rewards card expired (but not my points :)) Will be @ POP Century Wednesday PM - where to go; i.e, which park entrance area to get new card & points loaded or just go to downtown disney? Do guest services have open/close hrs. different than park hours? We are not going into any parks; just staying @ POP then onto DCL bus Thursday AM. thanks

Happy New Year everyone! Hope each and every one of you had fun and safe night!

DD is flying home from Atlanta today. She gets to the airport with her uncle, waits till almost boarding time, and finds out her flight has been canceled due to a staffing issue. The anticipation of boarding and taking off alone is the toughest thing for her and now she has to sit through it for several more hours. as the next flight is 6 hours later. And now her momma has to sit and anticipate her baby getting home safely for an extra 6 hours. I'm ready to have her home and wrap my arms around her.

I told Cameron that we only have 4 more sleeps till we leave and it still seems so unreal. I have packed all of us except DD's casual wear as I want her input. We'll get it done later on today after she's home. I still need to finish us FE and SM gifts. I've never done a SM before and I hope that I'm doing it right.

Val, as far as the mixology, we don't have anything planned so any of those will work with us. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

A couple of questions. Please forgive me if these have already been answerered:

1) Is there a date/time for the PJ breakfast? I know it was discussed a couple of days ago and if a date/time was listed, I can't find it.

2) I know the date/time to start the room tour was listed and that the start times are staggered. But, how long do we hang around our rooms before moving on to see rooms that start after ours? Not that that many people would be interested in seeing an inside room, but I would hate it if I left to go see the suites and someone came later to see my spectacular 11A :lmao:

THANKS!

I plan on getting mine at DTD. My card with no points on it expired yesterday and they told me that they wouldn't issue me a new one until the first one expired. So I've been holding off tranferring points until I get there on Wednesday.

On the WBTA I opened my room. I quickly had a look at the rooms before me first so I knew the occupants of those rooms by sight at least. I waited until the last of the people whose rooms were before mine had been through and then I moved on with them to do the rest of the tour.

Corinna

:lmao::lmao::lmao: So, who got turfed off onto the floor then?
Well, Ruby got the hint quicker than orly, len counted 18 times we kicked him off the bed, before we fell asleep, he kept diving under the duvet every time there was an opening,

Safe travels! Looking forward to seeing you again!
Happy New Year everyone! Hope each and every one of you had fun and safe night!

The neighbors had fun until 3:00am and it sounded like they were in my bedroom with me! Jasmine did not enjoy it---fireworks. I was surprised the HOA approved it.

Here is some Pixie Dust for you while you wait for your dd!:wizard: I know how you feel. Six hours can be a very long time during those circumstances.

Looking forward to seeing all of you soon!

My dd may ask me to "clean my room" as clothes are everywhere getting ready to finish packing!:scared1:. FE are all packed! Shoes are everywhere:yay:Now to get serious with the clothes!:confused3

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! WE ARE IN FOR A REAL TREAT THIS YEAR!

I'll put you into either the 11th or 13th.

I too am concerned about the $5 charge. Apparently most of DCL is going to be at the DREAM on Monday so I don't expect to hear from any one but I am trying to reconfirm what we get for $5. I asked for a demonstration on how they make the drinks of the day, and maybe info on how they come up with the names. Also, tastings with one full drink - this can't be only $5. So, I have asked for confirmation - will not hold my breath, may need to find out when I get onboard. My plan C -For less then $10 more, those of you who want can order a drink of the day, stay in the lounge and have our hawaiian shirt contest - we'll make our own fun. As I use to tell my systems developement team - we didn't fail - we just redefined success.

val

Oh you wonderful people and your well-wishes and pixie dust----it really worked!!!!!!! Ok, and maybe the vet opening him up and removing his spleen worked too:-)

Our best guess is that on Monday night, our other corgi Cera ran into him really hard---so hard that his spleen ended up bleeding. Nothing else was effected. The emergency vet was such a downer about him and we were ready to give up but we called our breeder and she had us take him to her vet for a second opinion---and what a good thing we did! Thank goodness for caring/involved breeders---especially after 13 years! And for competent surgeon vets!

Right now Bandit is resting---25 stitches on his belly, stitches on his thigh where a wart was removed, clean teeth, and wearing a really cute tee shirt---he hates wearing anything---but he must keep the area clean. We'll drop him off at the breeder's house tomorrow and she will have to deal with the post-op stuff. I hope to check in with her often through email while on the cruise.

Now I must start packing!!!!!!!!!
