From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

OK - I know I saw something about this earlier on - and of course lost it...so let me ask to see if any of you can 'remind' me, please. ;)

We are staying at the Hyatt inside the Airport on the night of the 5th. We will have our luggage with us - do we just go down early in the morning on the 6th and drop off our luggage and get a 'time' for the bus to the port and go back down later for the bus?

I know that DCL usually just grabs the bags from the airline, but since we are flying in a day early we'll have the bags this time, I'm confused. :confused3

And did anyone else get a DCL tranfer to the Long Beach airport? We have an LAX transfer but need to go to LGB for our rental car. We asked for LGB and got LAX, so I'm just not sure if it's a mistake or if they don't do the LGB transfer. :confused3

Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom...:wizard:

On the last several cruise trips we've flown in the night before & stay at the MCO Hyatt...it is easy-peasy!
first, do NOT tag your luggage with the DCL tags until you arrive at the hotel!
When our flight arrives we break apart as 2 teams -- one for luggage which takes a few minutes & one for check-in which can have a line. While completing the check-in process we remind them that we've purchased DCL Transfer to Port Canaveral & they will give a printout of their procedures. Last cruise we left the TAGGED bags inside the room no later than 8:30 am for collection (previous cruises the bags were placed outside the room for collection). Our party then heads downstairs to the Hyatt lobby where the 'Check-in Table' is located near the bar area, the DCL Transportation fine folks have checklist of participating parties -- they will confirm your room number where your bags are waiting and give each of your party a boarding-pass ticket (usually a Disney character). Cast Member will then call the "Character" for boarding to the bus, so hang close to the bar area! When your character group is taken down to the Hyatt carport for bus loading, the cast member will 'collect' your character & the driver will load any hand-luggage under the bus:wizard:

Of course, if you are an early-bird or have not purchased Transfers, then head down to Disney Transportation with all your bags and entire party. Cast members will take your bags for transport, drivers will load hand-luggage under your bus.

Hope this helps!

HaHa! It's a Drink of the Day!

thanks for clearing that one up!! I was working down the list...date of...death or departure!?!

I dont know if this is a sillyquestion or not, but for those of you who have garages, when you are gone a long time in winter do you worry about how much gas there is or isnt in the cars in the garage? tks

Cool! Congratulations! Sounds like you're really going to enjoy this trip! :cool1:

so excited for you! been there twice! as fun as you can imagine it to be! make sure to go to the bathrooms and money.....lots of club 33 "stuff" you can buy. good for you!!!:woohoo:

I hear ya! We watched for Interline rates on the last 2 PC cruises and they never happened. So we're not surprised. :sad2:

I'm more intrigued by the available staterooms and very little celebration on here about 'pixie dust' upgrades...maybe they're counting on selling them at the port or something. :confused3

We are happy to be going and cut back on expenses in the excursions to make up for any better discounts we would have gladly accepted. ;)

BTW - Mike's with Delta.

They never had military rate discount either.

Interestingly, VactionsToGo had this cruise as "Sold Out" two weeks ago, yesterday they are posting both inside and veranda rooms available. val

:woohoo:
I am still in shock as I type this, I cant believe it is real- but I have a reservation for Club 33 in Disneyland at the end of our trip!!! I have spent the past 2 weeks emailing hundreds of people- friends, coworkers, associates, school alumni, everything, and I got nowhere trying to find someone who could get me a reservation. I came close a few times, with people who worked for corporate member companies, but they required the employee to be there too. But I didnt give up, I kept reaching out, and just when I thought all was lost, the day before Christmas Eve I got a reply from an alumni from my college who said he goes to the Club so often, he had a friend from grade school whose dad's small firm had a membership, and he said he'd be happy to help! I just got the reservation confirmed this afternoon, I just cant believe it. I am so excited for this entire trip, it really feels like my Ultimate Disney Vacation now, with WDW at the beginning, an amazing 2-week cruise to all new ports for me, and DL at the end, including Club 33. I dont see how I can ever top this vacation. This was the best Christmas surprise ever, so priceless that I was this close to giving up, and when I least expected it, found someone who was willing to help me!

posted something in the wrong spot- trying to tell you we are excited for you! had the pleasure of going twice, yummy food and merchandise to buy (if you have any $$$ left over from the cruise:rotfl2: its as fun as you want it to be, have any questions, let us know! hooray for you!

Hi everyone!

Spent today running around finishing errands...I transferred our last foster pup to his new foster home. Poor thing got car sick which just made me feel worse! I am so sad I could not find him a home before we left.

Suitcases are out and lists are made - I finished our magnets and did the online check in.

It will be a busy couple of days before we go!

I dunno if it's a silly question or not, either, but it's one (of the few) we've never considered!

We've been more concerned about possible water leaks in the house or the power going out resulting in the furnace going off. Solved both issues - dh turns the water off at the main and opens the faucets, and we just bought a standby generator.

Hi everyone :wave2: Hope you all had a great holiday!! We still have one more celebration - DH's dad is coming tomorrow for a couple of days. Then DD leaves for Atlanta on Wednesday and comes home on Saturday. Somewhere between that, we all need haircuts and DD and I must go for our mani/pedis on Tuesday.

Started officially packing last night. DH got almost all of his stuff packed and I got my dinner clothes packed. Hope to get DS's packed this week and DD's after she gets home from Atlanta. I know I should mix it up in the event something gets lost and I will at the end if I get around to it.

Did online checkin at BLT last night. Still need to get rental set up in Aruba as our ressie that we had came back stating the car wasn't available. I'm awaiting an email frm them. Also need to get transportation to LAX set up. Think I'm going with Lotus.

I will pay bills by the end of the week. Yes, love the electronic banking!!! As far as newspaper and mail, my dad will be here to take care of that :thumbsup2

GOod luck everyone getting everything wrapped up. Just think, tomorrow we will finally be in single digits!!!!!!

Ive always kept a quarter tank no less than 1/8 in the winter when I'm in the garage. Take that as you will from a loopy minnesotan:hippie:

My dad was a petroleum distributor who delivered gas to farmers in our local area. He always told me to keep the tank FULL when it was going to sit for a long time because otherwise there was opportunity for condensation to form inside the tank. Have NO idea if he really knew what he was talking about, but that's just another perspective! And it was at least 30 years ago that he told me that. Things might have changed a bit since then. (Ya think?)

:thumbsup2 Tracy you caught the piece I missed. You're absolutely right. For a longer period of time you want a full tank exactly for that reason. We will be doing that with our cars up here. Not to mention its usually just economical as gas prices only go up it seems. So yes keep it full and my previous statement is for day to day winter activities :cool1:

How do you schedule a private appointment with Ducky? Can you do that ahead of time?

6:30 tomorrow night WVU plays NC State in Orlando, FL in the Champs Sports Bowl on ESPN. GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone who celebrated had a Merry Christmas!
I fell down on Christmas Eve and got the gift of a broken arm. I went to the ER and they gave me a sling, but I can't get into see an orthopedist for a cast until Monday. It is a bad time to need a doctor. :sad2: DH and I are trying to go over our excursions to see what we can do, but t's hard to really know until I talk to the doctor. :confused3 I know one thing, I will be very happy to have someone cooking and making my bed for me for two weeks! :thumbsup2
Nicole, congratulations on getting into Club 33, that is so exciting! I am jealous!
Kay, I like the idea of picking up the certificates and embossing our own, then getting them signed later. Just my $0.02.
Have a great day everyone, and watch your step!

Poor girl! But you're right, at least you'll have someone preparing all the meals, cleaning, ect while you can relax and take it easy! Best of luck to you and hope the doctor has good news for you :goodvibes

I am so sorry to hear about your fall and broken arm. You must be in pain. What a terrible time for this to happen to you, not that there would be a good time! I nearly joined you in a tumble myself this morning as dd front steps are brick and we had a light snow last night and the steps were icy and I hit them without thinking and went slidding away, not once, but twice. I was very lucky! Take care of yourself and you can supervise the packing!:thumbsup2

Oh tess soo sorry to hear this! not just bad time to see a doctor but bad timing for cruise too. Harole Ann is right - supervise packing and all. Just a thought, when ds was in a cast we went to a medical supply store and bought a cover for the cast. he could actually shower with it on! not sure about the pool or ocean/beach but at least you could shower and maybe wade with it on. feel better soon!

Snow!! We're in a blizzard warning here until 6pm tomorrow. I just got the official call from work that we'll be closed tomorrow. I think it's a sign I should start working on my trip packing list. I really hope there's nothing like this again until after I leave for MCO! (Eek! That's in 10 days!!!!)
I checked a couple of long-range forcasts and it seems that this horrible weather of the last couple of days shouldn't be repeated next week. We fly out of T.F.Green early on the 5th.

Well I just did the on line check in for our rooms at AKL. Did the newspaper and mail holds as well. Now it feels really close.
Thanks for the reminder, Alan. I had completely forgotten about needing to check into OKW. We will have to do that tomorrow evening after work.

It looks like we may go to the Magic Kingdom on 1/5 so we can see the Electric Parade now that it's on the schedule, we've been missing it from DL/DCA.
We think that's the park we will go to...to see the Electrical Parade and "Wishes".

So sorry about this. Hope it doesn't put a damper on your cruise.

I have to talk to Russ first, but the scavenger hunt sounds like fun, especially if it won't interfere with any prior plans we may have.

See you real soon.

I was just writing my packing list and remembered to add $1 bills for tipping room service.

Just a reminder for anyone who may also use room service ;)

We made a quick trip today to DW with my two daughters and 3 grandchildren. My 4 year old grandson loves the monorail so we went to the Comtempory and rode it around the loop a few times. We then were able to get into Chef Mickey for dinner. I tried for weeks to get reservations and it was booked. My daughter walked up to the desk today and was able to get a table for ten. So don't give up if they tell you something is booked.

It was quite cold - heavy jackets, gloves etc. Can't believe this weather.

Nicole great news about getting into the CLUB

We would definately be interested in the hunt.
