From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

I'm *still* waiting to hear on the wine M&G though I think the ship is actually responding now. It's still ridiculous....

Jeff - Did they give you any information? Yesterday Dorothy told him she is still waiting for a response from the ship for a cruise leaving this week. She had heard from the catering department but not the cruise director and their event schedule so she couldn't schedule times or locations of events. She was able to give me the price. Did you get that much?

No, the ship asked if we wanted a professional tasting and if so they'd need to have the list of wines so they could investigate. I replied that we're basically looking for a room, a table with 50 wine glasses and a corkscrew.

Does anyone have a list if there is one, of those celebrating a birthday or anniversary or any other event?

I dont know if this is a sillyquestion or not, but for those of you who have garages, when you are gone a long time in winter do you worry about how much gas there is or isnt in the cars in the garage? tks

We lived through the gas shortage/rationing of the 70's. DH never lets any of our cars get below 1/2 tank.

I would assume that what they will do is charge a cork fee per bottle - no big deal. If they tell you it can't be done (which I doubt they will do) we could take over a space that isn't going to be in much use the first day, like outside buena vista theatre, and ask everyone to bring a glass. Those with a bottle can bring it and an opener. A plan C or D.

Another option might be Aft Deck 7, if people bring their own glasses. Our room is close if we need to use it for anything.

Which is what I'm trying to get figured out. But yes, worse comes to worse, we'll just flash mob somewhere :)

I know in the big scope of things this is a very very small problem but I am so annoyed. Yesterday I found a note in my mailbox, a half sheet of paper, with a "Important Notice" on the top, stating that tomorrow an address number would be painted on my curb. The estimate value of this service is $15 but they'll take a donation. If I do not wish the service I needed to tape a notice to my curb. No name, phone number or address given.

I went out at 7:30 a.m. to put the no thanks notice out, didn't do it last night because it was suppose to rain. Some time before 7:30 they had painted my curb WITH THE WRONG ADDRESS NUMBER. City Hall says they don't know who these people are but they have been doing this scam for years and aren't affiliated with the city nor licensed. They suggested I just buy cement paint and paint over the wrong number as I wouldn't want to complain about "them" and get them mad at me. Big help

It would be a lot cheaper to gather somewhere and each uncork our own bottles. Otherwise the corkage fee is $18 per bottle.

That totally sucks they painted the wrong number on the curb....maybe the 15 dollar fee was to get the "right" number painted. =) If there is no number to contact them you are out of luck. I would just get some paint and make your own design.... are you neighbors the wrong numbers? Maybe you could file a police report for vandalism eventually someone will see these people doing this and they will get caught especially if it is not legitimate.

My corkscrew is already packed! If we want to do it ourselves, I can always pick up another corkscrew or two in Kissimmee before the cruise.

This time next week we will be half way through our first day at WDW!!!:cool1: MK in the morning and probably a nap in the afternoon.

Is there any real benefit for doing online check in for DVC properties? We haven't done it before.

True, but even at $18 pp with an average of 2 people per bottle isn't bad, especially if it gets glasses, setup and a private room.

Still plenty of categories available according to the DCL web site. As of 10:20 A.M local time here in L.A. they have open cats. 11c, 11A, 9C, 9A, 7A, 6A, and 4A. Still no interline rate. I would write the letter but I am so PO that it would not be taken seriously. I need to let a cooler head prevail before I send my letter.

I have done online check in since it started, I have found that I hardly wait now to get my room key. I already did for my stay that starts one week from today.

Website is once again updated. I've had a few more people jump on and a few room changes. I have 2 more rooms that I'm waiting on additional info to add so expect at least 1 more update there.

I'm also now updating the events calendar with stuff I have. I'm putting up the 7 sci fi movie times, but be aware that if any conflict with the first showing of Tron, we'll be going to see Tron instead.

I was notified yesterday that they still can't confirm a location for our SM reveal. SO at this point - unless they are able to confirm - I will simpley state that I will post a notice on my door by January 17th of the location. It WILL be the last sea day and I am attempting at approximately 10AM. I am sorry!

I HATE this! I always have to tape the notice..they try that here about 3 times a year. Although - I have never had them paint the wrong number.

Well..DD woke up this morning and has spent the last 3 hours in the bathroom...sigh...I told her she can't do this to me! :rotfl2: We had to reschedule some activities today but hopefully it will all work out! To much to do..off to work on the suitcases.
