Hi Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on vaccinations for the trip. Does anyone get the hepatitis shots? I know they reccomend them if you are staying at a resort in one of these countries but how about with cruises??

I'll be checking with CDC and State Dept in a few weeks and up until the cruise and will pass on the info I get on medical and generic travel info. However, last November the recommendation was to be uptodate on normal shots, including your flu shots (went yesterday). Our doctor, and the travel doctor I contacted, said because we were on a cruise, not staying inland for an extended stay only my husband, who has medical issues, needed the Hep A shot. Walgreens gives them but it was cheaper for us to have our doctor give it and submit the insurance. The Hep A is 2 shots, 6 months a part but, if you don't have 6 months before your trip it is recommended you get the first one and then followup after the trip and get the second. The Dr. didn't think he needed the Hep B vaccination or the others. If you have a pre-existing condition, definately contact your doctor now.

Hi everyone. We'll also be joining all of you on this cruise. I've been lurking on the forum for a while, but thought I'd officially say hi.

We're silver members, so we just booked excursions and Palo dinner this morning. Got most of what we wanted, except for no brunch. I'll just keep checking.

We're also joining the whale watching group in Cabo.

We're both really excited to be doing this cruise, our longest has been 7 days, so I'm looking for to all the relaxing sea days.

Now I'm off to PM folks with our details. :goodvibes

Heather (and DH Mike)

Welcome - look forward to cruising with you. Val & Bob

Postcard Exchange Update. The following cruisers have indicated they would like to participate in the postcard exchange.
________________________________________

A chance to participate in an exchange of postcards during your voyage.

The idea is that people buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc and deliver a postcard to each person on the list. They don't need to be written on or anything but I'm sure people would like to have something on there to let them know who it was from. If people do want to write a little note on theirs about their country or town then that’s OK too. Some people elect to make their own postcard using photos they have taken. Others printed local recipes on a card. It is great fun to come back to your cabin and find mail.

So far we have around 14 staterooms taking part and you don't have to be in the Fish Extender Exchange to join in - but please let me know if you don't have an FE as then I can make a note on the list so people know not to expect one and can place the cards directly in the Fish Holder (they are built to hold letters etc anyway).

If anyone would like to take part that isn't on the list let me know. ValBob89

Room Tour Update

The following cruisers have generously offered to open their room during the room tour. Let me know if we can add your room to the list.

Are any of you interested in organizing a room tour? How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. One person organizes the event to make sure we don’t have duplicate categories. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different category of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peak into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas such as use of an over-the-door shoe storage hanger to put all the “stuff” that ends up set everywhere; or printing a few 4x6x pictures each night at Shutters and decorating one wall as the cruise progresses. If enough people are interested, I will try to organize the event. Let me know what you all think. Val

HELLO!!! I'm on the April 17th 10nt MR cruise and I am hoping someone from your PC crusie will be posting the Navigator's on DIS main page or here on the thread. We currently have the only 2 "Speciality" cruises that include Manzanillo with lots of sea days. :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear about your PC cruise too. Our meet thread would really love to find out the dining themes, but we still have 6 + months to go. TIA if someone can post them. I pray that you all have a great trip!! :woohoo: Sandy

PS. Check with your county health dept for shots. They are usually the cheapest.

Good Morning

We are booked on the Panama Canal cruise and have booked the Cabo Whale Watch that Tinkerbel129 has organized.

We were in Aruba in Fall, 2008. I got up at 5:30 am to be certain that I would see the Wonder arrive. We are thrilled to be on this trip. We will be visiting Disneyland for the first time at the end of the trip. I have gotten so much info from the boards.

My husband (61) and I (59) are in a GTY 5A at this point booked on DVC points. I am not sure how to contact Jeff and Tinkerbel129 since I do not have enough postings to send pm or email.

We are excited to join this very active group.

Barbara & Larry

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: We are DVC members ('93) and travelling on points as well, just DH David and myself. Heavens I love my points.

I think this sounds like so much fun. Thanks for organizing it for us.

Busy thread going here - and getting harder to keep up. Good luck everyone! And thanks so much to Linda for keeping page one up to date for us, that ensures that we won't miss anything.

Calling All Champagne Girls and Champagne Girls Wanna-be's

Many of you have expressed interest in a Champagne Girls gala. Two ideas have been suggested; 1) An organized private champagne tasting (DCL instruction and cost), complete with pink boas and tiaras, or 2) BYOB (champagne, alcoholic or non, or beverage of your choice) hen session, complete with pink boas and tiaras. Of course we will have to have the occasion captured on film. I propose we vote on which we would prefer, 1, 2 or both. Let me know your vote by next Friday. Then I will get in touch with DCL and see what can be arranged.

Welcome to you and all the other new cruisers.

To send PMs - you need a certain amount of posts. Just post away in this or other threads and you will soon have enough points.

I have only experienced option 1, and it was fun and informative. That would be my vote. But in reality, I don't mind which way it goes.

Val - I will contact the person that organized it on our last cruise to find out from her the ins and outs and let you know.

Hi and welcome. it is just me (62) and my husband John (63) and we did the Westbound PC in 2008. We loved it and are looking forward to repeating it, in hopefully slightly less humid weather this time.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Welcome to all the new cruisers. I still haven't had a chance to go back through and read all the pages I missed but it looks like we've had a quite a few new additions!

I will be willing to do either champagne choice. I had to leave my pink fuzzy crown and wand on the TA/Med because my suitcases were packed with great FE things. I guess l will have to check out the Dollar store again

welcome to all the new cruisers. Glad to see some "older " folk joining us. It should be a great time- everyone stay healthy-- hear that Goofprincess

Hey Jen! Thought you might be able to tell me what days High Tea is offered and when we get onboard where do we go to beg for Palo reservations?

ALSO I think a champagne girls event sounds like fun!

High Tea is only on sea days. After you board go to Wavebands to either make a reservation or get on the waiting list. To the new people welcome.

I was in the same boat. I really didn't buy anything but my suitcases were full. I left my pink tiara and my black feather mask for villians night in my room due to weight issues. So, after halloween will look for replacements. Val

It is great to know you will participate in Champagne Girls, no matter which option is offered but it would really really help if you vote on your preference. Thanks. Val

I presume that one was meant for me since I didn't vote. The official ship event I guess.

The message wasn't meant for one person only, sorry if you thought I was pointing you out. Others gave their support - thank you - and said they would participate regardless of which we did. I just want to make sure whatever we do is a group decision. Val

Off to the gym to work on those 7 pounds I found on the TA cruise. Any physic majors out there - I don't understand how a little teeny tiny 3 ounce desert in can result in 1 pound gain. Seems logical to me that if I eat a 1 pound box of chocolates the most I should gain is 1 pound, not 5. Life is not fair!!
