WOW, on all three! I would love to live in Florida, would go back to work to be a castmember and we already own DVC. So 3 great things I'd definitely be ahppy about :banana::banana: Congrats! What kind of CM are you?

Thanks :) I work at Magic Kingdom on Main Street West in the Emporium :) I looove it! I get to make magic every day :) I am making about 1/10th of what I was making before but I am am MILLION times happier!

Holly

which brings me to a second question - if they do discounts, do those who paid by dvc points- do they get some back or upgraded or just lose on discounts? not a big deal - not as big as the insurance question - but curious

Points are set regardless of the price. There is no increase or decrease as prices go up and down. So you dont really lose out on anything. I am not sure on the insurance question though.

Time is going so quickly! A few months ago, we talked about a S. California Dis-meet. i just wondered if anyone still wanted to get together?

It doesn't have to be at Disneyland. We could just get together for a lunch or dinner too!

Anyone have any thoughts on when would be a good time? And where?

You can't put a price on happiness. Maybe you can get a ride to work from Jeff one day in his Monorail. Well maybe I will trade a pin or two with you in Oct when I am there. When it comes to discounts, they are coming slowly. I am only a little over a month away from our B2B and there are a lot of cats available, and I am now almost calling daily to see if there is a interline rate and still nothing. I am going to call again within the next hour. I hope I can get it before PIF for this cruise because I am hopeful they will allow me to roll the saving to this cruise. We will see.

Hi all!

Sorry it's been eons since I have written...in that time I have:

1. moved to Florida
2. become a castmember at Disney!
3. bought into DVC (BLT!!!)

So yeah, I have been busy! Since the hubby and I just made our final payment we wanted to jump on to see if there have been any developments on plans for cruise excitement (aka: bracelets, fish extenders, meet n greets) I have been checking the website as often as I can but didn't know if anyone would be kind enough to give me a quick rundown! Can't wait to see you all in a few months!!!!

Holly

Congratulations on ALL your exciting news :)

The quick rundown is on page one of this thread!

I'll be sure and look you up when we're there the end of September. Can't WAIT! :goodvibes

I always use InsureMyTrip, also.

11C is the new category 12, so there will not be any 12's listed. If most categories are open now, I would think even more staterooms will be open after the official PIF date with people cancelling. I am anxious to see what Disney does closer to sail date.

Really? That's interesting.

Well, in that case it looks like some of my earlier estimates on discounting were right. It's decent discount, but not nearly enough to tempt me to downgrade from a cat 10 (with the onboard booking discount).

Being happy is what is the most important! Plus, I'm sure the fringe benefits don't hurt either! :goodvibes

For me the magic of the cruise is 3 weeks with limited Internet - it's a level of disconnect that has become all too rare. :cool2:

Same for me!

I have not called DCL but I noticed that when I tried to book transfers on-line, there were no transfers from the port to DL. Is anyone getting private transportations to GC/DL? We do not want to rent a car like we did last time becuase we will only be going to DL and we can get DVC tranportation from GC to LAX.

I think this might have been discussed before but I can't find the posts.

I've been looking at ExecuCar private van service through www.execucar.com when I called for the 4 of us adults the one way to VGC was $67.

That has been an exciting few months. You will be making many people very envious!!!

So I called today to check on a interline discount for our B2B. They had only the first part available. The strange thing was, they only had Cat 5 even though it looked like all cat. 3-12 were open to book on the website. So the wait continues.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Hope everyone has a LOVELY Saturday!

Not much Saturday left here - it'll be Sunday in 2.5 hours ;) Fathers' Day here in Aus. T/row.

Enjoy your weekends, everyone :)

Cheers,
Sally :)

I remember reading your post when Garry passed - I was so sorry to hear that. I was also interested on doing that particular Baltic cruise in part due to the large number of people who were returning from our cruise - but it just didn't work out. I think you must have a great grandson - and I know you'll both have a great time.

I don't know if you remember my sister Roan - she's coming on this one as well. The rest of the mob of young adults who were with us in 07 are not - all are now in colleges or working. But my godson is coming along thanks to a remarkably understanding school.

Very few people from our Med cruise ended up keeping their booking for the Baltic.
My grandson is a teriffic young man and I know we will enjoy this cruise.
I do believe I remember tyour sister. It will be nice to see both of you again.

We got transfers from DCL to DL early last month.

If you call DCL and request transfer to DL from port they will book it even though it doesn't show as an option yet. I was assured by CM that there will be transportation from the port. If you call let me know if they will book it for you. I will feel better about the transfer if I know others have booked it also.

On another note, if there are any WVU fans out there, please tell them to go easy on our CCU boys. It would be nice if they can spend the $350,000 they are getting on their football program and not on hospital bills.:scared1::scared1:
WVU fan, but no injuries either way, please!!!

Just got up from a bus trip to my grandson's football game last night. Got home at 2:00am & could not fall asleep until 4:00am! These hours are not for me! We won 35-7:yay:

Happy your grandson's team won.:cheer2: I notice you are from the Pittsburg area. Are you close to Wheeling? We have friends there.

Also very happy to know we aren't the only ones who have booked transfers to DL after the cruise, since they aren't showing as an option on the website.

It's taken me a couple weeks to get caught up on on the posts since we went to WDW last month. But I made myself read through them all since a lot of the talk revolved around excursions. We still have a few weeks to figure out what we want to do, but come Sept 23 I'll be sticking to my computer like glue.

Just wanted to weigh in on the tuxedo issue. Because we live in a large metropolitan area we found it was MUCH cheaper to actually buy tuxedos than to rent them. Granted they're probably not the highest quality, but both my dh and ds bought classic black styles and my ds has already worn his for at least 4 other occasions so it has served him VERY well. DH has worn his on one other occasion and of course they will be bringing them again this trip so aside from the hassle of lugging them along, it really was a better deal to buy. (Besides, it gives you a GREAT excuse to go on another cruise! Gotta make use of that investment! :lmao::lmao:)

They bought theirs from Hollywood Suit Outlet and I think they got the whole thing including the shirt and the bow tie for a little more than $100. (If we had it to again we might have bought a little nicer one for ds since he is using it so much, but who knew? And it really doesn't look cheap.) Since then they have both invested in nicer shirts with French cuffs and DS in a real bow tie (instead of the "slip on and clip in the back" type) because he likes to dress up! He also bought a white dinner jacket from Ebay! (Yes he really is only 19 but he's just an old soul!)
I ordered DS's tuxedo from an ebay store before our last cruise 2 years ago. It was a great investment of $45 ($25 for tux, $10 shipping, $10 alterations.) DS wore his tux 3 times on the cruise - it was the 2008 EBPC, to a couple weddings during the year, and now most days when he gets home from school he puts it on to "go to work". (DS was 4 when we went on that last cruise, 5 1/2 now.) Don't know why, but he just loves getting dressed up and can't wait until we get him a new tux for this cruise.

Here he is getting ready for first formal night on the cruise.

All time favorite DCL commercial in this house. I remember first time saw it. Just couldn't stop laughing our heads off.
And, isn't it just fantastic when diaper changing days are over!!!
I'm so hoping (and praying) DD "gets it" in the next 4 months. We're feverishly working on it, but she has this horrible stubborn streak in her.
I was talking about the 08 cruise. We were all given a letter in our rooms about not letting things fall over or being hung from the ship. I know some people on deck 6 did not listen. When we were in the second set of locks, crew members came to the balcony next to my friends to take down a banner they hung up on their balcony. I was on my friends balcony having drinks when all ov a sudden we turn to the right and we see two roomstewards and a officer cutting down the banner.
We were on EB in 2008 and never saw any letters. In fact we hung our banner - with tie wraps that needed to be cut off - and no one said anything.

For those of you who have done the flag/banner thing before, did any of you order one custom made from somewhere? I would love to do something with our names on it, something unique. Or did you just gets sports flags, stuff from hometowns?
I made ours. Got some fabric, paints, and glue at craft store. For the main part of the flag I found a remnant of blackout fabric. It worked really well. I may just go and modify it a bit and bring it on this cruise. I know some people just brought flags from their home states/countries to display, too.
I'm checking in to let you know that I have the general template created for the "program." I wanted to run some thoughts by all of you and also get some ideas to create the most useful document for everyone!
Here are my thoughts:
-Include the list of "who is going," "where we are from" and "where we are staying"
-Include a 20-24 hr daily schedule documenting everything "we" have planned as well as space for everyone to write in what they want to do for the day.
-Include a tutor schedule that only has each of us (who volunteer to tutor a topic) tutoring for one hour during the entire trip.

My Questions:
1. What do you think so far?
2. What else do you think we need?
3. There are a lot of runners, should we schedule a meeting time each day on deck 4 for those who want to run together?
4. I have all of the activities from the website, but are there others you want to do?
5. I remember reading something about a "tag" game with a Mickey Mouse Magnet "tagged" on peoples' doors--should we do that? If so, how does it work?

Feel free to answer any or all of ?'s 1-5...any help is most appreciated!

Lynne, so Jealous!!! I hope you have a great time jumping (cruising) the "pond" to our side of the globe :)

I hope everyone has a great week!
~Melissa
Sounds great. I still have soft copy of the "Navigator" and "Pocket Navigator" from our last cruise (2008 EBPC) if you'd like to check them out for further ideas. Just let me know and I'll get them to you.

Thank you. It sure has not felt like 11 years. I can still remember my new hire training 11 years ago in Dallas. They put us up in a hotel in a dry county. We were not happy. Also from my new hire customer service class I am the only one still with the company.
Congrats on the raise and for being with a company that long. All of Dallas is "dry" with a few pockets here and there that are not. Growing up here it's never bothered me a bit. But when I moved to Tucson for college it shocked me to see liquor sold in grocery stores and drug stores.
For all of you ladies here who have really dressed up for formal nights (ie- long evening dress), where did you get your dresses? Anyone buy online? I'm reluctant to do so but I seem to be finding the best prices for online-only stores. I dont want to spend a lot of money since I wont be getting much use out of it, but I do want to look nice and dress up for one of the formal nights at least. Any suggestions?
David's Bridal. That's where I found one of my dresses for formal night last time.

Congrats on the move, job, and ownership. It was nice meeting you and your husband at MK last month. (We were standing by the trash can for the Electrical Parade, with a 3yo on the curb for the last night of Summer Nightastic.

I am close to Wheeling--about 20 miles north. We play Wheeling Park High School September 24.

One of our friend's kids goes to John Marshall. The other two graduated from there and one is at WVU and the other at Marshall.

We are staying at PPH after the cruise. We have family in San Diego and they are going to join us for one of our days at DL.

It was great to meet you too Robin, it truly is a small world!

Can anyone direct me to a website that lists the excursions for the cruise, I searched all over the DCL site but couldn't find them :( I wanna be prepared for when we can finally book! I feel so behind in all my planning for this cruise. With all the new changes in our life this cruise has sort of taken a backseat and now I need to play catch up! Thanks to any and all who can help me out! I saw the first post had some info and I will be contacting you folks soon to sign up for various exciting activities!

Holly

I booked the transfers from DW and to DL in Oct when I booked the cruise. I think it was $65 per person. We are staying at BCV and my Mom will be staying with us for 4 nights and leave to fly home on Jan 6. We fly in on Sunday Jan 2. We will be at KV in 43 days! Have 4 nights there before our Carnival Dream cruise.
