From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 3

In all the time I have been cruising, this was the worst at excursion booking. I got kicked out making my brunch reservation and the system thought I was still in - kept telling me to come back in 20 minutes. But, I got brunch, Seatrek & DePalm in Aruba and the Costa Rica Favorites but don't even see the ones I wanted in Cabo and PV so guess I will keep checking.

But, I am pleased to have the two I have and will just keep checking back. How did everyone else do? Hope you all had good luck as well.

I'm up late too!

Frustrating when some of the excursions you plan on don't even show up for the port.

Also, I assume DCL knows when it leaves Cabo....I signed up for the ATV Beach & Desert Expedition (since what I wanted, Harbor Cruise, didn't exist any more as a selection) and the only times listed for it is 11:30 to 3:30. I thought the ship LEFT Cabo at 3:30, plus we need to tender to the ship.

Actually, this was the best experience I've ever had using the web site to make reservations. We are Platinum Castaways so I've done this before. I have always had a horrible time getting the web site to take my reservation! I use a Mac and sometimes it wouldn't work at all and then I've had to try and find a PC and then have had to try Safari then Firefox......... I try to make the reservations as soon as it turns to midnight and some years I've actually gone and woken up my I-tech son to have him find one more way to try! Yes, I'm a great Mother that wakes her kid up for computer assistance! This time it just worked on my Mac and Safari. YEA!!! THANK YOU DCL web designers. (I've written them a concerned e-mail after all of my bad experiences.)

Well, I am tired and going to bed now so I can have Disney Dreams of the Wonder before the reality of work wakes me up in the morning!

Jen & Jeff I'm happy to hear Jack is doing better. As one that gets sinus infections quite often I can truly say they are no fun for the little ones or their parents.

No change on the doggies. Our county shelter is finally open tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed that we find them there. We finally found a spot in the fence where they got out and fixed it tonight. Now they just need to come home!

Good Morning happy cruisers! Day shift, checking in.

PIF has a new meaning today, I was paid in full. Pulled the plug on this cruise, hope all of you have fun. Guess I better change my signature.

Oh that is TOO sad! Hopefully you'll be able to cruise again soon.

Just finished booking excursions. Website is way too slow to get times for every excursion. Below is what I booked with times. If you want to know the times for an excursion let me know and I'll find out for you. I wish they woudl just list the times on the main page but you have to actually click on it to reserve before it shows you times.

Aruba - De Palm Island Beach & Snorkeling - 8:15a-1:15p or 10:45a-3:45p
Puntarenas - Tropical Train & River Cruise - 7:45a-1:30p
Manzanillo - Manzanillo City Tour & Shopping - 12:15p-4:30p (probably not keeping this one)
Manzanillo - Palo - 6:30pm!

Managed to get the Tropical train and river cruise, and the sail and snorkle in Aruba for my brave (crazy?) room mate. It would not let me book any excursions for my second cabin - it will seriously suck if only half of us get to do excursions.

It showed my desired excursions in PV & Cabo, and allowed me to select them, but after I clicked submit they never showed up on my list as having been reserved. I tried half a dozen times. Then I got the 20 minute thing, too, and gave up.

Yes, two of my party are. We couldn't get the Disney excursion to "take" on the stupid web site. Have you found any information about doing it privately?

Oh I so hope you are right. Well first we need to pay that last 300 so we are PIF. Don't worry, DW is paying it in the morning when she wakes up. Now I am more worried about getting the time off. Since Vacation is done by senority I hope to get the two weeks of. The problem is we don't bid for vacation till November, but if I were to base it on the last two years, it will not be a problem.

Shushh - I meant to ask you, how long before the cruise did your European DCL documents arrive ? Are you having your documents for the PC cruise sent eslewhere ? We leave 12 days before the cruise, so I'm thinking I should arrange to have them delivered to the BWI instead of home. And yes, we may see you at the BWI ? Are you staying club level by any chance ?

I think it was about 3-4 weeks before hand. We are also considering to have our cruise documents sent to our WDW resort as we'll be leaving home 4 weeks before the cruise.

We're not staying club level at BWI unfortunately. It would be nice thought!

Thank you everyone who shared info about the excursions. Its a bummer that the website seems so temperamental. Good luck to everyone else waiting to make their excursion reservations.

While it was slow starting, it moved right along after 1:00am! I just need to watch for our PV and Cabo excursions. I do think that DCL holds spots open for each booking window as well as for those that wait to book on the ship so you should be OK.

Yes, I think we are doing whale watching in Cabo on our own. Dh found a place online that he liked, just need to check on it myself and make sure the times work and everything.

Well we are all paid up. There was a question of weather we could really do this cruise because of some family matters but we bit the bullet and said we are going. We did it in 08 and loved it.
Are there any plans for a precuise meet? We have a winter home about 5 minutes from the Port and on the TA many people stayed at the Country Inn and Suites and we joined them for a pre cuirse get together. It was a lot of fun.LEt me iknow if anything is planned or if I can help in any way.

I'd love to meet up. We usually just drive to the port the morning off but because we don't know what is goinng on with the Dream, we decided to stay the night before at the Radisson. We probably won't be there until around 8pm on the 5th though. We could either join the meet when we get there or perhaps have a breakfast meet? I'm usually not a early riser but I know I will be on the 6th!

Costa Rica - Coffee Picking Adventure
Manzanillo - Countryside ATV Adventure
Puerto Vallarta - Dolphin Trainer for a Day
Cabo - Beach Buggy & Swim

DW was also booked in for two hot stone massages @ the Vista and we got Palo brunch and dinner.

The only oddity I found was that the Dolphin Trainer for a Day actually showed up on the reservation page as "Dolphin Swim". Other than that everything worked great and we got everything we wanted.

Now I'm putting this out of my head and focusing on the WBTA that we're going on next week.
