From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Hello all!! Been kind of busy around here. I'm getting ready for girl's camp (for girls 12-18) that I am in charge of later this month.

We have a new grandson!! He was born yesterday morning!! He and his mom are doing well!

I don't think we are going to do very many excursions. We are mostly going to get off the ship and walk around a little, and shop. But I think that's pretty much all we will do. The only excursion we are thinking of doing is maybe a zipline excursion.

We'll need internet. My last semester of grad school starts the day we get back from DL AND both Jeff and I will need to be available for work. Not sure how available yet, but neither of us have back ups.

Congarulations. When it comes to the phone, I guess I can't say I will be leaving it in the cabin since I have a iPhone it doubles as my iPod, but I will have it on airplane mode from the time we pull away at PC to the time we get to LA. As for the net, going to have to get online on the 20th to check my pay check and pay a couple if bills. Those people only want their money and could care less that I am chilling out on vacation. That should be about it. DW might take the labtop into a couple of ports to fibdva free Wi-Fi signal to do some emailing. She has not said yet if she will.

Internet, yes...DD will need post homework & skype for classes (it's the only way her school will agree to the EXCUSED absences for extra long break)...though the reason we cruise is for the complete unplug factor -- being unreachable is priceless!

Excursions -- at CC will jet-ski and beachy fun, Aruba will follow Alan to DunkinDonuts for the iced coffee! Costa Rica, DH & DD will zipline and I'll help the economy! First 2 Mexico stops will enjoy empty Wonder and Cabo will again help the world economy. Our BIG excursion will be 2 1/2 days at DL post-cruise

Aruba will follow Alan to DunkinDonuts for the iced coffee!

Maybe we can go together. I am gong to get A caramel swirl Ice coffee and a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a buttery crosant. Normally I do not buy food when I am on a cruise as I have already paid for my food on the ship, but I really want my Dunkin.

That is what happens when you marry someone from Maine. Dunkin is like Starbucks here, praticly every corner. She got me hooked. With no Dunckin in California I really like it when I can get it. It will kill me to pay for food in a port, as I have said, I have paid for food on the ship so I really shouldn't buy food in a port.

It's so funny hearing you guys talk about Dunkin like it's something special. Where Jeff and I grew up (NJ - north and central) it's everywhere. Nothing special. Yes people drink it, most stop on the way to work, but its not by far the best coffee you can get in NJ. That's diner coffee.
I so miss diners. I'm convinced you cannot get a diner outside of the NY/NJ/CT area. Denny's is not a diner.

we'll go see whatever we can - new places all over!

but i'll be leaving 2 "kids" at home for 2 weeks (one in her own apt and working and one ...hmmm not sure where till he starts 2nd semester at ga tech the second week of the cruise). So, what do you all mean by "internet packages" ? is there a cheap(er) way to get on line than by pay as you get on? how's it work?

enjoy the 4th for all the Americans! well, everyone enjoy the 4th but those here enjoy however you do fireworks or not! Was at WDW one year for the 4th. the year of all the Fla fires. No fireworks till the end of the week! but being at the world made it not matter, even to 3 young kids!

I used to not get why people would go off the ship and buy food. Then I realized that some people just want to try the local flavor. I get that, but I am with you. Why spend even more when you have, and I got this from a table mate on the last Panama cruise, pre paid food waiting for you here on the ship.

I also never by food in ports. I've never felt the need to when food is included.
We will be leaving kids behind, the youngest is 18, but I can't imagine going two weeks without knowing how they are doing. So we will be looking into internet.

Well, persistence has paid off - we now have adjoining Navigator cabins - I kept checking the website, and had our TA change them overnight

As for excursions - we'll probably do them in most ports except CC - we generally do educational ones and find them really interesting, although I'd love to do a zip line !!

That's it from here - having a "girls' night out" tonight with friends from work, but working all weekend
