That's what is so great! Everyone can chose what fits their style of vacationing and the cruise offers it all :thumbsup2

Amen:thumbsup2, that's why we cruise b/c in one vacation we can have it all!!

Well, never rains but it pours - but in this case SUNSHINE! I have the possibility of a 3rd room mate. Of course that would mean we have to split up, since the cabin only holds three. . . .

:woohoo:Congrats, Linda!:woohoo: My:eek:MIL:eek:is trying to find a roommate amongst her friends so she can come too!!
on a side note...it's pouring rain (think Winnie-the-Pooh rains!) here in Houston as part of the Hurricane Alex aftermath, but we're not complaining:rotfl:it will be hot:cool2: & humid:scared1: again REAL SOON!!!

We love to eat ceviche so hopefully can find some along the way. Getting a bonus for coming to work on Sunday! Need all the money I can get!?final payment getting close. Just did another payment today. My TA will be out for 6 weeks so next payment will be the final one. But not until Sept.

and with cruising i can figure out if i want to go back somewhere when i retire.
Sherri

That's exactly what DH and I have talked about. If we find a place that we just absolutely love, we can plan a longer trip there. But if we don't love it, well, we haven't wasted several days to an entire week on it. Of course, there are other places we want to go that cruising won't take us. We'll get there one of these days :goodvibes

Although it's "cool", it's still humid! I feel like someone is throwing a blanket over me every time I walk outside it's so darn humid. But I'll take these high 70s/low 80 degree temps any summer day!!! And I'm loving the rain. Our yard is so nice and green, unlike last summer! But yes "cool" and Humid beat hot and humid any day! :thumbsup2

Well I am not going to be getting off because the empty ship will give me time to really relax and reach a level of relaxation I will want to reach as the busy holiday travel time would gave been going on. The Stupidity of things I get asked in the summer and Holidays is just amazing. Those two times of year I really work my rear end off so relaxing is all I want. Who knows something might sound cool in a port, if it does and falls into budget I will do it. Well off to DL. We are going to a DVC event fir the new HI resort. After looking at the point chart and knowing that dues are starting at 4.32 per point and the fact that you have to pay a HI tax every time you check out we are not even concidering buying, we are going to get the pins since we are pin collectors. Have a good one everyone.

We are DEFINITELY going back to St. Croix because we cruised there first! Also, a week in Grand Cayman would be nice - LOVE IT!

Have a great time at DL tonight! the DVC event for D23 was supposedly fabulous. the HI property is out of range for our ownership confort, but will :cloud9:dream of a trip in 2013 or later, DCL trips come 1st!! i'm so :mad:jealous of your PIN opportunity...too many days since my last pin purchase:rotfl2:

They are giving us a free pin for the event. Should be a good pin since it is for the HI property. I know what you mean for ownership. Also look at the charts. The cheepest per night is 18 points. No thanks.

At this rate, you'll have your own party of 20 like us...

This definitely holds true for us. Its not easy and not cheap to get to anywhere from Australia, 3 young kids makes it even harder! We like to "scope out" where we'd like to go in the future for an extended holiday. eg when we spent 1 month in Germany.

I hear you too Alan, I guess for us, that part of the world is a treat. And we have come a long way to be there. But if the cruise was around AUS/NZ/South Pacific, I wouldn't be hesitating to stay on the ship!

Have a great time in Disneyland! Still wishing there was a park closer to us. Even HK Disney is a 10 hour flight away...

Hey DCL_FAN_TAC! Need a boat yet to leave your neighborhood??? I don't remember what part of town you said you live in but I know there's high water on the roads all over town! A rain gauge just a couple of miles from my house is being reported with over 5.5 inches in just over 6 hours today with close to 9 total in the last 2 days!

Hey Carmen! Waiting for DCL to send a ship:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:to us! It would be great practice to repositioning the Magic to Galveston, right?!?

We are on the west side of Houston -- south of I10 & east of Beltway 8, near Memorial City Mall & -- our area is drenched! Our pool (which occupies 95% of our 'backyard') is out of it's banks and we have a great "lake" instead of a yard!! The house sits high (thank goodness for that!) and the front yard grass is a beautiful green!! All the post-IKE drainage projects seem to be working for our specific area, but my heart goes out to those folks :grouphug:the reporters featured today on the north & east sides. Looks like we have 3 more heavy days...wowza!

Are you okay with 9 inches & more to come? Is your DH's work commute route okay? Great time to go to the movies:3dglassespopcorn:::3dglasses or pull out the board games -- we've exhausted our TV:happytv:time!

Glad to hear that your house is fine and that your lake hasn't made it into your house! Anyone have any trouble getting home today for your family? Here's hoping that tomorrow will bring some sunshine instead of rain pixiedust:

If this rain keeps up though, we'll need the Magic before it's all said and done with! Actually, it's has stopped here for now and I hope that we can dry out a little before it starts raining again. Surprisingly, we don't have standing water in the front or back yards. Our house doesn't sit high, in fact our lot is pretty flat until about the last few feet the yard is higher. That had me concerned but no water in the house or even collecting on the back porch! But I know some of the streets here in Pearland had quite a bit of standing water. A friend of mine told me that 288 and 518 (just a couple of miles from me) had a lot of water, that makes for a terrible commute since that is how so much of Pearland gets home! DH went in this morning to work in the Medical District and gets off tomorrow morning so hopefully his commute will be fine. Had he gotten off this afternoon, it would have been one nasty commute! Not to mention that he parks in an offsite lot and has to take the Metro and then hike to his car on an uncovered lot!

The kids and I are just relaxing watching old Disney cartoons! I was looking through photos on a facebook Disney Fan Page and they had a bunch of screen shots from old Disney cartoons. I decided that would be the perfect way to spend the evening so we've been doing that the last couple of hours! But like you, I'm starting to get tired of TV. I'm not a homebody. I like to get out and about!

My commmute is from a converted bedroom-to-office upstairs at the house - one of the perks:wizard:to off-site clients! DH is also working from house (his office is the formal one downstairs, we can't share office space:lmao:) until he can 'walk again' (broke the heel bone on Mothers Day, surgery was first part of June with dr. orders for no weight on it until mid-August at the earliest, praying:worship: he will be up to 50% speed for this cruise), I pickup & dropoff his work projects from the office about 2.5 miles away, a couple times a week. DD had volleyball camp at her high school (on beltway8 just north of 10 / south of 290), but the roads were passable during dropoff & pickup. It helped that the rain came thru in waves so we had a few moments to drain before the next batch!

Glad the Med Center has addressed it's flood problems since the TS Allison in 2001! Here's hoping your DH has a dry commute tomorrow -- and a quiet time at work! I have many:grouphug: family members & friends in the healthcare industry and public safety (PD & FD)...who's only request is a quiet, uneventful and healthy shift!!!:wizard:

Good Morning everyone.

Texas folks, please stay safe!

Today's projects are
Pool
meals
work on memory board for 80th bd party

Happy Day, everyone!

Quick reply from me - just home from work (it's 9pm here) - just done a shift as a dept. manager for a dept. I've only worked in 5 times - much prefer my usual shift as Duty Manager. Never mind, it's all $$ in the bank.

I'd love to buy points in the HI property, but DH wants nothing to do with DVC. We're fond of HI - been several times.

I can't imagine we'll ever be the types to not get off a ship - I'm going on my 9th Sth Pacific cruise next Easter, and will still get off in every port.

Hope everyone survives the rain - after many years of drought conditions, we're finally getting decent rains in most parts of Aus., thankfully.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends.

Cheers,
Sally :)

I so get what your DH means with DVC. For the longest time I did not want to join. I get a great deal on rooms at WDW working in the airline industry. Over the years and many trips we kept noticing the price of rooms at WDW keep going up. We just look at it like we prepaid our room. Some may not think like that but it works for us. As for the event at DL tonight. Very good. Love the pin they gave us. As nice as the HI property is going to be it is not us. I can't see even going there ever three years so we are not even thinking about it. There was a reception afterwards with some really good wings. I did get a bit of DVC business done. I know one of the traveling Guides. He was there co-hosting the event. Afterwards I talked to him, as it looks like my guide has left DVC. He did confirm that he has left and I was unassigned. I asked him if it were posable to be my Guide. One key stroke and it was done. That was cool.

Glad you didn't have to get out too much in the mess yesterday! And DH has made it home, didn't encounter any flooding on the way home, and had a decent shift. Unfortunately, when you work in cardiology, uneventful doesn't happen too often :(

Carmen and TAC, please stay safe!! I hope the rain stops soon!

Thanks! I see the sun peeking out this morning and the radar is clear as of now! And Sally, glad you have gotten some much needed rain!
