Welcome aboard!!!

I'm traveling with husband (Jarrod), daughter age 11 (Haley) and son age 4 (Cameron). Haley is so hoping to meet some girls around her age. She made a couple of great friends on our last (and only) cruise in Dec. and hopes to do the same this time.

Carmie -

At sailing my DD will be 11 - so hopefully they will become fast friends!!

DCLTravler - welcome!! DD is darling daughter yes! See you are getting the lingo already!! DS would be darling son.

I know DCL has recently tried making the clubs non-age dependent - but not sure what will be in effect when we go in January. Perhaps someone who has cruised more recently will be able to help with your club question but I bet there will be something of interest to your child! So much to do!!

Welcome DCLTravler - we'll be empty nesters traveling with another couple (DH cousins). Four big kids at heart.

Normally we have up to 20 of us on our Disney trips so it will be nice to not be a tour guide for this trip. :woohoo:

I wonder (ha ha) if there will be lots of little boats this time?

Well, who knows, but I'm thinking the Wonder leaving Florida for who knows how long would be a fairly important event for some.

I actually thought all the little boats were just coming back to port and happened to be all together. We did have to sound the horn at them as they were getting in the way!!!!

Hi,
Actually I will be traveling with a group of 8 and my daughter is the only child. My parents, sister and bro-in-law and bro-in-laws parents make up the rest, so you are not alone in the empty nest group =0)

We're sans kids too - in our mid/late 50s. be nice to meet people to hang with! We live in Maryland though

Actually, I lied, sort of. DD will be an entertainer on the trip!! So looking forward to seeing her! She's in LA and we're near D.C.!!

Our first cruise, on the Wonder for 4 days, we had dolphins escorting us - that was fun! Wonder hwo much Disney paid for them!! LoL!! jk.
So we've gone from 4 day to 7 day to now 15 days. So next - living on a cruise ship??? :-D

Our friends have decided to not accompany us on the trip. :sad1: So now we are questioning ourselves as well. :confused3 I hate that! Somedays I know what I want to do and others - life gets in the way.

Oh, I hope Haley and my daughter (Mikayla) can meet! She has made some wonderful friends on past cruises. In fact, we just got back from visiting a friend she met on the Medi cruise in Pennsylvania! The cruise is a treasure itself, but the friends you meet are the icing on the cake!

Just told DD and she is very excited! You're right, just going on the cruise is special but making great friends makes it even better. We'll have to make plans to girls introduced early on. What dinner sitting do y'all have? We have main as we thought it would work better for our little guy.

As far as Ocean Quest, Haley wasn't old enough last time as she was only 10 and missed it by just 3 months! She spent some time in the lab but for the most part her and the other girls just hung out watching movies, swimming, going to shows together and ordering room service (they thought they were really big begin able to pick up the phone and order what they wanted).

Jack (DS) is the only legal kid in our group of 14. The rest of us just act that way.

That's right! One of the great things about Disney is we can all be kids again. I never experienced Disney as a kid and I love being able to as an adult and know that I'm never too old to enjoy the Magic of Disney :goodvibes

:welcome:Welcome to the new people. We have been on an extended vacation, but are back home now for at least the next two weeks, so I am trying to catch up on all the posts I've missed.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to everyone. We are celebrating with taco salads and Cabo Wabo margaritas. Hope everyone else is having as spectacular day as we are.

Amen Sister!!!!!!!

We actually backed out from going on the '08 PC with Carol and Doug, pahrumpgirl. They went anyway and had an awesome time! Now, we are definitely going with them this time....I want to live and Carol would probably fly to Louisiana and kill me if I backed out again!! Hey, that may be a way to get a visit from her!! LOL!

Seriously, come! You've got 70 staterooms full of people waiting to sail with you.

Our friends are taking a Celebrity cruise a week earlier - they really want a veranda and it's less expensive. I can't say I blame them, but I can't see us switching either. :cool2:

Howdy,
We have late seating for dinner...always have, even when she was 6! I just cannot bear cutting off our day to get ready for dinner, not to mention the fact that with a group of seven adults and one child, that seemed to work better. We should plan on getting the kids together early on the first day! My goal is to get on the ship early, so we should be lounging upstairs well before we set sail.

RE: all who are young at heart, I totally agree! Like I said, we travel in a group of seven adults and one child and none of us would cruise on another cruiseline! We love the "Magic" of Disney. They just have a way of making everything extra special regardless of whether you are young or young at heart.

Very nice adult to kid ratio :)

Our cruise last Nov we had 14 adults and 6 kids we gave our servers a workout I think. For most of them it was their first cruise. All of the kids are begging to go again.

We're sans kids too - in our mid/late 50s. be nice to meet people to hang with! We live in Maryland though

Howdy! I think there are quite a few of us empty nesters on this cruise so you'll be in good company. It'll be fun watching the excitement and joy on all the kids faces, but not be responsible for any.

there is such a thing! there are sailings that last for months on end, but imagine the cost of that! and it's def not with disney!

We originally had late dining but changed it to main. DS (who was 3) fell asleep every night at dinner in Dec. We figured we'd give main dining a shot this cruise and see how it goes. I know what you mean though about cutting the day short. There will be a couple of port days that we may not make the dining room but at least we can take advantage of room service or BB.

I agree about getting the kids together early. We also plan on getting to the port early. Of course, we had plans last year too and it was such a hectic morning we didn't board till after 2:30. I've read that some like to board late but I felt SO rushed. We've learned from our "mistakes" and I hope to make it to the port shortly after opening.

I also tend to prefer to get on board early, but I've found that's really only a big deal on the short cruises. On a 15 night cruise a few hours one way or another on the first day means little (unless you're rushing to make dining changes) .

We also have main dining. Here's a tip: Beach Blanket Buffet is table service in the evening and is an amazing place to have dinner on PC night (assuming you can't get Palos) - great views. :rolleyes1
