Just wanted to say good morning from Los Angeles. We are Rockin and rolling this morning. About a hour ago at 4:04 A.M we had a 4.4 earthquake. It was not to scary. It felt like the motion of the ship.

Did someone say Mojito? :wizard:

BTW: We received our 2010 DCL Planning DVD and watched it Sunday night. It was awesome ... totally made we want to be there!

Awesome! I requested mine a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping it gets here soon, I can't wait to watch it. I love watching the Disney Parks and DCL videos right before my trips, and of course sporadically over the months leading up (my family thinks I'm crazy obsessed) :rotfl2:

On the bright side, to tide me over til I get my video, I did get a little flyer from DCL yesterday with a nice character saying "Welcome Back Family" and had the dates for final payment and excursions...these things get me excited too!!

The only appliance I need is a bottle of Bacardi.

That would work for DH :thumbsup2 but I like the blended drinks! I'm still looking forward to some drinks of the day and trying the Konk Cooler. But over 15 days plan to save a bundle on drinks by making a lot of our own. We are not big drinkers but do like to enjoy them on vacation.

I am with Jenn - Lemon Drops - yummy. Jenn - try it with Blueberry Vodka - delicious!!

No tequila here.

One adult in our party will be charged with carrying on those irreplaceable bottles and beer.

The "grocery store" stop is another reason we don't do Disney transport.:thumbsup2

Ah yes, the grocery stop is our second most important reason (after the liquor store) for not doing the DCL transport. We dont buy a lot of stuff since there is so much on board to eat and drink, but we do like to get a few essentials like little snacks, some bottled water for excursions, pineapple juice for my drinks when I cant get to the dining room, and of course, the infamous red cups for my cocktails ; )

Someone mentioned a "drinks pkg" all I see is a beer or wine pkg. Does the bar have a mixed drink package? I'm with the lemon drop group, lol. As for the "mixers" at the drink station it's just soda and juice right? They dont have sweet and sour, margarita mix etc that you can use. This is my 1st DCL so help me out. Will UPS ship alcohol?

My favorite is the Bon Voyage or the Miami Vice same drink with 2 names. My other favorite is the Konk Cooler! We will use we go shop and have it delivered to KV

OK. Wise me up. How much alcohol are we allowed to bring on board? If there is a restriction, is it per person or per stateroom. Are we able to replenish our stocks in port and bring it on to the ship?

Alan...I have a son who is frantic for surfing lessons. Is there a beach near DLR that might be appropriate? He missed out on our recent trip to Costa Rica and I am thinking that CA will be the most appropriate spot for lessons on this cruise. Does anyone have any advice on this?

I'll try to answer some of the last questions about liquor to the best of my knowledge, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think they offer a mixed drink package, but if they did, I would definitely be interested! Those drinks of the day sure add up. As for mixers, at the drink station they have soda and on my last cruise January 2010, they had Hi-C pink lemonade, no juices. However, they had some juices in the Topsiders/Beach Blanket buffet and dining rooms, but both have limited hours, so if you want other juice mixers, margarita/daquiri mix, etc, you are better off bringing some of your own to have it in your room on demand. Sometimes I wanted to make a drink and I'll admit, I was too lazy to walk upstairs 2 decks to get a mixer from the station lol, so it is helpful to have a small supply in your stateroom.

I don't think you can ship alcohol via UPS or another carrier. Even if you could, it would be costly due to size/weight, and I'd worry about breakage, and most of my favorite liquors dont come in plastic. This is why renting a car is such a great option because it gives you the freedom to stop at the liquor store, grocery, or anywhere else you need to pick up stuff that you couldnt fly down with.

I don't know if there is a restriction on how much you can bring on board. DCL technically doesnt even say you can bring alcohol or other beverages on board. It says right in your paperwork that coolers and beverages are prohibited. However, it has been and hopefully will continue to be an understanding that DCL lets coolers and alcohol slide. I hope there is no limit as I inted to bring several bottles to last for this 2 week cruise!

I have brought on liquor purchased in Nassau and in St. Thomas before, so I'm guessing you can bring on liquor from other ports and you are allowed to keep it and consume onboard, unlike liquor bought on board from the duty free shop which is not given to you until the last night of the cruise to take home with you. If someone has been to other ports that they dont allow you to bring purchased liquor onboard, please let us know.

Hope this helps!

Starbucks is way over rated. Thank goodness my DW is from Maine, she introduced me to a little thing called Dunkin. Oh and no passes in the mail yet.

Not if you're like me and need the caffeine. I will be without my bottled Fraps for two weeks. DH calls it my medicine.

I grew up with Dunkin and still enjoy it. But I'd rather have a venti skinny vanilla latte any day over regular coffee!

Just another pass update that just happened. This is really starting to get weird. So you know those passes that they canceled for us on Friday, they just showed up at my moms house. Looks like I will have to go on one of my days off to begin round two.

That's funny, I feel completely the opposite. I hate Dunkin Donuts "lattes" that are way too sweet and and feel like they have no caffeine, I feel like I'm drinking hot chocolate. I need that espresso taste that I get from Starbucks, especially to gear me up for my 2 hour round trip commute and 3 hour classes 2 nights a week for my MBA. I love Starbucks but I do wish they had more latte choices like they do during Christmas time the rest of the year, and I will say that if faced between the choice of a Starbucks vs a good local coffee shop with their own unique coffee drinks, I prefer the local place, although unfortunately they are a dying breed, especially in my area.

I think their regular coffee is overated, and honestly too strong for me. But I have developed a serious habit around the holidays of peppermint mocha frappucinos! So much so that my husband got me a Starbuck's card for Valentine's day.:lovestruc I have already informed DH that this time around there will be a coffee bar bill in addition to the regular bar bill.:rotfl: See you all at Cove Cafe!

Wow. I am in the minority here. I acctuly like McDonalds, and the coffee that we serve on our planes better than Starbucks.

What a good plan. Just before Lent started, DH and I were at my fave Starbucks. I told DH I was going to give up cooking for Lent. He said, "No, you should give up Starbucks." The manager said, "Nooooo, we'll go out of business!" Considering that I live within walking distance of six Starbucks, I don't think I'm going to have to worry about running out of coffee.

I tried googling my closest Dunkin Donuts - not a one within 50 miles. Guess I won't be drinking anything there. LOL!

Fave Starbucks drink - good old grande latte.

You are so lucky you are walking distance to so many Starbucks! When I lived in La Jolla while going to USD, I was just one block away from one too, along with my true favorite, Jamba Juice. When I was walking distance, I went several times a week which got expensive, so I guess it is a good thing that I have to drive 10 minutes to get to one now ; And I really miss Jamba Juice. The nearest one to me on the East Coast is in Philly, which is over an hour from me, so I rarely get there....I really wish Jamba would expand to more suburban areas on the East Coast like they are out West!

There is not one Dunkin in the State of CA. Trust me if there was my DW would know. How are things going with your pass?
