From the Med to the Panama Canal

Hey guys, just got back from the disney channel games. Didn't see much but lots of screaming girls and most of the cast. Zoe really liked seeing Sabrina from Cheetah girls and Joe from Jonas bros. Off to the pool.

$3 per bag checked in luggage only.

That's great Zoe had a good time! OK back to the $3 was that the skycap or inside at the check in counter? Just trying to prepare Ann and myself for checkin, make sure I have all the necessary cash available.

Hi,
I posted this on the main forum, but wanted to ask the pros too. I am not planning on the need for this, but how would someone get in touch with us in case of emergengy? We will be buying some internet time, but will not be online every day. We will be turning our cell phones off during the cruise. Does anyone know how someone could get in touch ICE? Thanks..Vicki

Kelly-do those vacuum bags really work? I was looking at them at Target and went back and forth, couldn't decide to buy them or not...so I didn't. Are you clothes wrinkled when you unseal the bag?

The big z-lock bags work just as good and cheaper!

We used these once, and yes, they seem to work. A word of caution though . . . what do you think happens when you can squish clothes down and fit more in your suitcase??????

Yeah, you guessed it, a suitcase that weighs as much more as the space you saved! Cramming more clothes in the suitcase means more weight, which I found out with these once when I about gave myself a hernia trying to lift the bags after they were packed!

John,

Great news about your brother.

How is packing coming, and when do you head off?

Thank you for the song of the day and the answer, Kelly! I thought it was for the skycap, but just wanted to be sure. :thumbsup2 You never know these days with airlines constantly changing their minds. List to get done today, FINISH PACKING! :worship: Already have 2 checked bags done and 2 carry on's done.

If someone has done the Canopy Adventure before, are you allowed to take a backpack along? What are the best shoes for that excursion?

Also for the Shootover jet in ACA, any suggestions on shoes for that one?

Well, we have ziplined before, and sneakers were required I think. Closed toe shoes a necessity because you are zipping onto platforms and you could easily stub your toe.

On the Shotover jet in ACA, water shoes are the best because you will get wet on that one. They will store your stuff for you while out on your adventure. I think some people may have left their shoes too. You couldn't take your camera, but they had people taking pictures and when you got off they had the pictures all ready and you could buy a CD right there and take the pics with you, plus they put a whole bunch of wildlife on there too that roam along the waters and trees from the adventure.

Okay, I really need to get some work done, and I've got a conference call here shortly with GSUSA in NYC.

Thank you for the information! I was thinking along those lines as well. I think I will take older tennis shoes for the zip line. Enjoy that conference call!

Thanks everyone for the emergency phone number. We did purchase the insurance this time-we normally don't, but with the length and cost of this trip, we decided it was a must. Plus, being in the OG/GIT group, you just have to be careful:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: Vicki

John,

Great news about your brother.

How is packing coming, and when do you head off?

Packing is non-existent. We leave early next Friday morning. Unfortunately, the weekend is now lost too, as the boss wants me to work all weekend. Oh, and BTW, make sure that there are no loose ends when I leave! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :worship:

They don't allow you to carry anything (for safety reasons), but they will store it for you.

Tennis shoes are fine. One girl only had flip-flops, so they taped them onto her with duck tape.

Yet another amazing use of duck tape! :lmao:

I am glad that I am not the only one trying to figure out shore excursions. It is a bit tricky because I like to snorkel and my dad does not know how to swim. I want something he would like to do but his hearing is so bad that it is hard for him to do things on his own sometimes. Anyone have suggestions???

Checking today there were not too many things that were sold out. I think I will make them on the ship when I can talk to someone.

On the other hand, Palo is totally booked up. I have never eaten there and was hoping for a chance this trip. I guess I will have to try and get my name on a list and see if someone cancels.... I can't imagine why they would want to.

Have you looked into the Butterfly farm excursion in Aruba? That might be a good one. you would still have time to snorkel there. he could watch you from the shore. Isn't there a way to put in an option for finding finding family excursions, etc? I think I put in handicap accessible somehow and found that one from Dad, Who is in a wheelchair.

Hey Guyinwdm, you'll be able to book when you first get onboard to Palo. Go to Rockin bar D and get in line... Is that the right place Linda?

Well the past few days have been fun. Friday we went to MK and did all the rides that we don't have at DL. the park is so much bigger and very pretty. Then headed back to meet Anna (Nanaguide) for the health expo to get our race packets. Then onto Debbie's (epcotkilterfan) party (all folks from last year's cruise - Spros, first timers, JW???, Hoagie Pie, LynnG, ScottH, Georgie and Joe screen name? and Cquick's fam was there too) They outdid themselves on the party it was spectacular at OKW. Then tried to sleep for the big race the next day (many from the party were racing)

Barely slept and got up at 2am our time, out the door at 6am in the dark with the very loud bird that sounds like a fire drill every morning at 4:30 exactly!

The race was really fun and our weather was perfect (dry and in the high 60's) First-timers are pros and very fast, but Nanaguide is the Queen racer by far. I have not been walking as much this year, so stayed back with Georgie and Joe who were first time 5Kr's and that turned out to be good for me.... My heart was pumping, but not out of breath. We went all through Epcot and got to enjoy the flower and garden show. There were a lot of people well into the thousands, but no characters along the way this year like at DL.

We went to Epcot right at opening and jumped on several rides without waiting. By 11:30 Zoe was exhausted and needed to go back to the hotel. We went back and rested for several hours and then went to Blizzard Beach for an hour... just enough for us.

She's now been sleeping for 11 hours. The 15K was this morning at 6am, I'm hoping the weather was alright for them because it rained here last night for the first time in a month. Which brought out the loudest frogs I've every heard in my life - there were about one million of them singing all night long outside my window! They must have heard that I love the singing frogs from Meet the Robinsons. My dad comes in today and we head to Hollywood studios = eating at the sci fi diner. Then were taking him to Blizzard Beach for the first time. AK early tomorrow. Have fun packing everyone. DH is home packing and is surprised at what a big job it is.... he's packing for himself:rotfl2:
