We have a Fresh Market opening near us tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone shops there. It seems to be on the order of a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Any experiences to share? Products they carry that are great? How are the prices?

Good question. We have one opening soon, too. I love TJ's, so I am hoping it is similar.

Products are great. Prices.... not so great. I shop at Fresh Market for a few things, but they are pricey.

Fresh Market opened here almost a year ago and it is definately higher end as far as prices go but there are also lots of products that can't be found at regular grocery stores. We love their produce and meat section. They have some pretty exotic fruits and lots of fruits that are seasonal are available there year round. They have some of the nicest looking cuts of steaks I've seen anywhere and their pre-made guda (sp?) and mushroom burgers are great! It's definately worth a walk through if you've never been to one.

LOVE IT!

The one in Chattanooga is rarely crowded.

I like the music played in on the loudspeaker.

we have a Fresh Market opening here soon too...anyone know anything about working there? I was thinking about applying.

we have had one for years.
It is a specialty market. Some organic but mostly imported or high end stuff.
Ours has lots of bins with nuts, grains etc... that you put into bags and weigh.

Large cheese counter with expensive imported cheeses. Lots of different coffees with one coffee being available for samples

Imported beers, different salad dressings etc...

Meat counter with already stuffed things or kabobs

Very pricey for the most part -but fun. Not the kind of place you would do your weekly shop -but would go into for fun to pick up a few things

The only people who seem to do regular shopping in ours are the very elderly. They have excellent customer service

The pimento cheese with french bread rounds is great!

the cajun crab dip is wonderful / pair it up with the french bread hard round things either the plain or spicy ones. you'll love it .

the deli has some nice things in it. ask for samples if they aren't pushing them

fruits are beautiful.

canned vegie chili is very good too.

I LOVE Fresh market! They have the best meat counter in town, a great produce dept (The only store in Charlotte it seems sometimes that has Jicama), The cheese dept is amazing and I love all the bulk bins of nuts and snacks. I too, like a previous poster, love the classical music piped in. It makes my shopping experience so calm and peaceful. They also have a great deli section with some really amazing salads.

Love Fresh Market
but the only things i normally buy are Trail mix and Beer...:confused3

We love the Fresh Market - it's a local business for us as it started in my hometown. We like to boast that we have THE LARGEST FRESH MARKET IN THE WORLD!!!! (That's a family joke based on a comment from my daughter's British college roommate.)

We love to shop there, but like most people, we do our regular shopping elsewhere and our specialty shopping at Fresh Market.

I love Fresh Market there is one an hour from me and I go with a cooler for seafood and meats. We don't have good grocery stores in my little town.

I always find some goodies too. Sauces, sncaks, they have products that I haven't seen anywhere else.

It is expensive.

I shop at our Fresh Market all the time, but it isn't someplace I would do all my grocery shopping. It's a great place to pick up a few things to round out a meal or to get stuff if you are entertaining. They have beautiful cut flowers. The produce is wonderful and so are some of the baked items. The meat and seafood departments are really good, too, and they have nice "grab and go" selections for a quick meal. There's also a great selection of things to make gift baskets with lots of gourmet snack items. The prices aren't wonderful, but they have sales on different things each week. Usually I only get things there if I can't find them at Target or Publix, where the prices are better most of the time.

Loooooooove Fresh Market. They are pricier than a Publix, etc. but they offer higher end, higher quality stuff so of course the prices are - and should be - higher.

Their coffee is wonderful, bistro/deli with ready made meats and sides and such, great meat counter that will cut how you like it, amazing desserts, cheeses, wine selection, fresh produce and fruits.

One of our life goals is to eat our way through the dessert counter display, haha.

And they play light boroque and classical music over the speakers, which is great. :)

ETA: Had a blueberry scone for breakfast - those things are awesome, really, really awesome. Legen-wait for it and I hope you aren't lactose intollerant because the second half of the word is - dary. Legendary. :)

I have one near me that I only go to for certain things. I LOVE the rotissiare chicken salad (YUM) and recently tried the stuffed shells (another YUM).

I like to stroll the meat department because they have some sort of ground pork shaped into a pig's face that is just too funny. You have to see it to understand.

The bakery looks awesome and I feel like I gain five pounds looking at it. One day I'll break down and buy one of the fruit tarts.

We go there almost every week to buy "special" items for the weekend. As others have said, they have a great selection of meats, cheeses, specialty products, and even a very decent selection of beers(imports, microbrews). The store has such a pleasant atmosphere with the music and the customer service.

They sell a delicious twice baked potato in the deli dept, and I usually get from the frozen selection grilled cheese stuff pretzels. You warm them in the microwave or overn and they are a terrific snack.

You'll want to continue buying your cases of soda and Fritos at your usual store, but you can always find a treat at Fresh Market:)

They had the chicken salad out for sampling, and it was great. We also saw the ground pork shaped like a pig. My DD9 almost lost her lunch. She's in the stage where she loves all animals intensely, even the ground pig.

We love Fresh Market for their produce for special things and sometimes their meats and prepared items for special events as well.

Outside of the NY area, they are the only store (that I know of) that carries Dr. Brown's sodas, and we crave them occasionally!

At Christmas time they have really beautiful flowers, gifts, candies, extra cookie/breads/brownie mixes that are all WONDERFUL! I buy many of my holiday gifts there for family, friends, and neighbors and usually get a wow response.

Kitchen Sink cookies.... yum!! :cloud9:

I also love Fresh Market. It's fun to go in there and I always find a way to spend too much money!
