Frequency of meets

As you all know, the CT group meets frequently. We have meets at Rain Forest at least once a month. Along with the Three Caballaros, Leslie, Cynthia and I, and our Caballero in training Dom, we have others who frequent the monthly meetings. Wanda and Caroline try and make the meetings as often as they can. We had a great time with them and Randy and Joanne yesterday, see you all in September.
We also have our little meets just the four of us once a month, so the four of us get together two times a month.
We talk pins and do some swapping, but we always manage to have a great time. And of course we eat, sometimes too much.
Our last mini meet took place at an all you can eat brunch. We got there at 11, and watched as they took the brunch apart at 3. but those chocolate covered strawberries were a great way to end a great day.
Does anyone else get together with your local traders as frequently as we do? And if not, why??? We have such a great time.
And the Three Caballeros and Caballero in training are looking forward to meeting you all in August at the event. Peggie

Yep, even if nobody else is interested in AK pins, it is nice to mingle with DIS freaks every once in a while and see so many different pins in person. It is nice to have more than one trusting friend that travels often, and does not mind picking up a few pins for you too!

It is fun to hear the latest trading adventures of The Three Caballeros too!

...Then I really love to sit right close to them and switch from pin trading topics to our personal lives, jobs, etc. They are awesome people to friendship!

Every once in a while, I'll sneak a trade. One of my best ever was with Cynthia for that Dino Institute pin. My second best trade ever was with AL for that Styracosaurus pin, but that was a board contact. My CM Entertainer Mickey was a Pinpics trade... I should get that one this week

Oh, I know, they all aren't "run-over-dead-people's-bodies-to-get, skimpy edition LEs", but they mean the world to me and you can't offer me a thing to trade for my keepers.

So, does anyone else get together with Dis pin freaks back home?

July 5th, the day we left WDW on our last trip, I was procrastinating at the pin trading table at WOD. I made a trade, for the Cinderella nametag pin, but was just having the best time gabbing with some of my Disney friends. About an hour into our drive to Naples, Tim(DH) turns to me and says "it's all about the friendships and socializing, isn't it?". I said "it sure took you a long time to figure that one out!" But he hit the nail on the head! We the Connecticut contingent, including the Caballeros and growing in numbers every day, have such a great time whenever we get together! You guys are the best!

Actually, we had a mini-meet yesterday. Lauri and I were down in VA Beach to see a concert and had lunch with Cherry, PatBScrooge, and Sorcerer. Only Cherry and Pat brought their traders and made one trade, but we still had a good time chatting.

There's a nice concentration of collectors along the VA Beach/Richmond/DC corridor, including three of the moderators and chat host Parkhopper. Since we joined the DIS in April 2000, Lauri and I have been to at least 5 meets.

Local traders ? What are "local" traders ? I'm not sure, but I think DW and I are the only traders in about a 250 mile radius

Wanda....Do you have an AK 1st Anniversary pin ? I've got an extra that I'll be bringing to the meet, if you're interested. LMK...

You are right Leslie - it is all about friendship and fun!!! Yes, we do have fun looking and trading but the better thing is the nice friendships we have established through a common interest. I look forward to our get-togethers even if the time is limited. You are such nice people - hope that others have the nice advantage we have in meeting so often!

Well, I finally took a look at a map to locate Nitro, WV.

OMG! No wonder you're so far away from the Washington, DC Metro area! You're practically falling out of WV into KY!

Mapquest says you're over 360 miles from here! I thought you were skipping Parkhopper's pin parties because you were saving up your traders for the August Event. You really are way the heck far away from here!

Told ya' It's about a six hour drive to DC from here, Robyn. Six hours in a car with a restless 11 month old would NOT make for happy parents by the time we got there...lol

Still, one of these days we WILL make it up there for one of Parkhopper's famous meets !!
