free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

Just as an FYI: Senator Graham in South Carolina provided us with four tickets and a parking pass for our visit this past June. All we had to buy was one child's ticket! We were thrilled and had a great time. We ended up being there they had a sneak preview of the new Atlantis museum, which was AWESOME! Thanks to the senator, from one of the few Democrats in SC!

For those who have gotten tickets, are they for an EXACT day? My congress women's office asked for planned date for visit, but our flights haven't been booked yet. If we end up going a different day within the week (even if that week crosses months...ie, Jan. at the beginning of the week, Feb. at the end) will we still be able to use the tickets? Or do we have to stick with the exact date we said?

THANKS

Yes, via this process you are reserving for a specific date. So you will need to decide ahead of time coordinated with your other plans.

We just got confirmation that we will be getting 4 tickets for February !! Does anyone know if you still have a seven day window after ticket is activated? We were not sure if we were going before or after cruise and the date we received is the day before the cruise which means we have to drive down either really early :scared1: or leave a day earlier so we could get everything in at the Space Center. :confused3

You must use the ticket on the date it is issued and is only good for two days so I would go down before the cruise if you want to use the tickets.

Hopefully that means we might get some good news. I received an email from our Congressman's office on August 1st and she said she had put in our request for February, so let's hope we get it.

How far in advance should we put in our request? Our cruise is April 6th and we are planning to visit the space center the day before.

I sent our request on 7/31 and we haven't received any response so I'm guessing it will be a no go for us. :rolleyes2

Not sure exactly but I know for our Feb cruise I sent a request on 7/29 and they told me they could not officially request Feb tickets until Aug 1 so they called and got our info the day before so they could send it first thing on Aug 1. So maybe October would be when they released April tickets?? :confused3

What I have been told they accept request 6 months in advance.

I would send the request on now. I sent mine in early January for our October 11 date. The congressperson's office exchanged emails with me throughout the process. We got out will call number and parking pass about two weeks ago. Good luck!

Van Hollen in MD told me he does not provide tickets. :(

I was successful getting tickets through Chris Van Hollen's office for this month. I phoned his Capitol Hill office directly in February and the staffer who answered the phone was able to help me. I am sorry that you weren't successful. If you contacted the Rockville office initially, perhaps give the Capitol Hill office a try.

I saw one post that someone got tickets for February. Has anyone else received tickets for February. Our Congressman's office requested February tickets for February on August and we haven't heard anything yet.

I received a response today that the tickets are unavailable for our date.

Our Congressman's office originally told me they didn't get tickets for the Space Center, but could get me tickets for Washington DC. She had never heard about the tickets from NASA, so I cut a pasted information I had seen here on the boards about how to contact NASA and emailed it to her. She was very nice and looked into it for me. She said she would have to wait for August 1st to contact them for February tickets and she had put it on her calendar. She did contact me on August 1st and say she had requested the tickets and good luck, but so far we haven't heard anything. We are in Delaware, but will be in Florida for the winter, so I said any day in the month of February would be fine with us. Hope we get them, but are concerned that we haven't heard anything yet. Keep your fingers crossed.

We are in Delaware and I tried my Senator first and he said they only do tours in DC. Then I contacted my Congresman and here is the reply I received today.

Hi Margaret,

I apologize for the delayed response. Kennedy Space Center Tours are not routinely set-up by our office, so it took a few days for me to make sure I had exhausted my options and gathered the best information for you. I contacted the office of the Congressman who represents the Kennedy Space Centers district, and I spoke with that Congressmans point-person for the Space Center. Unfortunately, the staffer from that office informed me that members of Congress are not able to request personal or behind-the-scenes tours for constituents, nor can we arrange for discounted or free tickets to the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center. Of course, I wish I was able to make this happen for you and your family, but the Space Centers tours are now managed by a private company, and tours for members of Congress and their staff are strictly for informational purposes, and are not transferrable to constituents. I do know that the Kennedy Space Center sometimes runs special deals and promotions, so maybe you can find luck that way. It appears that the Kennedy Space Center has benefits and discounts for retired military veterans. You can find information on this
s program here:

I am wondering has anyone received free tickets tickets lately??
Anyone from Delaware ever get any free tickets?

Thanks for all your replies, it was worth a try.

I emailed Congressman Carney last Sunday night and got a call today from his DC office saying that there are no tickets available for Sep. They are giving out tickets for next Feb.
