free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

Could anyone that has been granted the tickets give me a time line.

The date you requested.

The date you were told you are getting the tickets.

The date of your Kennedy Space Center Tour.

Just wondering my last email said to check back in a month. We sent the first email in February for an August trip and I have received two check back in two weeks and now a check back in a month. I am not complaining I was just wondering how long it is taking for a confirmation to come.

Thanks!!!

We made initial contact the last week in October for our congressmans office. I knew the 6 month time line, and wanted to get everything squared away before it was a time crunch. We clarified everyting, and the woman in the office had all the information ready to submit (she submitted first week in December, Two groups of us) and about a month ago we got our confirmation email.

Thanks MTmomma! That means I may still be a month or two out from getting my confirmation. But it also means I still have a chance:cool1:

Contacted 6 months out- Early August 2010
Requested Feb 13, 2011
Was told on October 26, 2010

Received an e-mail from one of my senators that it was against "ethics" to give away free tickets ?????

Good thing we have 2 senators, I'm going to try again with the other one.

I did not contact my Senators. I got mine from my Congressman.

I just checked our congressman's website, and they actually have a form to fill out online to request free tickets to various places!

These include the White House, US Capitol Building, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, State Department, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Mount Vernon, Kennedy Center, National Archives.

Although I'm wondering if the Kennedy Center, and Kennedy Space Center are one and the same...

If you're in the Ohio's 5th District, you can go to https://latta.house.gov/Forms/TourRequest and check it out.

Well, I suppose you could check it out even if you're not in Ohio's 5th district. We homeschool our little one, so he's going to handwrite a letter to the congressman when we hit our sixth month window and request tickets. He'll get some sort of school credit for it.

--edit--
So on second search, I'm guessing the Kennedy Center which is on the list is indeed The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The form to which request tickets also ask which hotel you'll be staying in while in D.C.. We won't be staying in a hotel in D.C. while in Florida. :lmao:

This is the reply I got today....not sure what to think or how to reply. My feeling on this email is that it didn't get any further than this clerk. Who may or may not have a clue.

My SIL also put in a request..also from PA but different district..we will see what see gets as far as a reply.

I would call this person directly, and inform them that they CAN request complimentary tickets to the Kennedy Space Center visitors complex and tours, by contacting the NASA liason in Washington DC. Sometimes you have to show them their own job....

:) This is my letter I sent the other day. I hope it is clear cut and directs what is needed/wanted. It would be great to get free passes. :thumbsup2

Dear Congressman Critz,

First off Thank You for your public service to the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Secondly I am aware that via your NASA liaison that NASA does offer constituents complimentary passes to visit the Kennedy Space Center (up to 4 people) through their Members offices and that requests should be submitted up to six months in advance of requested tour date.

My contact name is: ****************

4 adults (2 parents, 14 and 15 year old sons)

Tour date of: November 5th 2011

Thank you for any help in this matter as it would be greatly appreciated and enjoyed by my family.

Sincerely, Christa *******

I have a question on the 6 month out time line. We are going on a Disney Cruise and then to Universal. I'd be able to go to the space center on June 7th. At this point it is only 2 1/2 months away. Any chance at tickets ? Or is it way too close time wise ? Thanks.

It certainly couldn't hurt to ask. We requested for our June date back in late January, and received our confirmation in early March (about 6 six weeks apart).

So I think there is time for your request to be processed, but not sure if there would still be tickets available. In the initial response from my congressman's office, the aide indicated that she would try to get tickets but there are "only a limited number available." I have no idea how limited that number might be, or if that is more something that they say as part of a standard response to any ticket request. (We got the same comment when we worked with our congressman's office prior to our DC trip last summer about Capitol and White House tour tickets.)

Good luck!

I got turned down for August. I don't know if it is because August is a busy month or something else. Just thought I would post, since I saw some other people recently declined.

Thanks for the reply. I sent an email to my congressman. I don't expect tickets, in fact someone else earlier on this thread wrote that they heard back that all tickets in June are gone. My 11 year old son really wants to go to the space center, so we may have to fork over the money and go. Being a science teacher myself it would be tough to pass on this educational opportunity for my family.

Don't want you to think we will be stalking you ! We are on the same cruise, going to KSC on the 7th then to Universal. We have tried to get free tickets too, still waiting to hear.

Hi Smoof:

When did you request, if I can ask? I sent my request in January and still have not heard. I was told to check back in April.

I believe I saw on the Kennedy Space Center site that certified teachers get free admission with proper identification. You'll have to check the website for the 'proper identification' needed.

Unfortunately, I homeschool my kids so I don't have their required identification. I also requested tickets through our US representative, but the allotted tickets for April were already gone by the time I submitted my request. Oh well, we still plan to go because it's a fabulous educational opportunity and we get to start our vacation 1 day early!!

I got the same "type" of reply from my Congressman's assistant (or intern or whatever). The email I got was slightly rude & condescending (I thought). I explained to them that other Congressional districts had them available, and they told me again to check directly with KSC. :confused3

LOL..........stalk away. In fact you were the one who informed me that Hertz has a station at Hard Rock. Thank You !!!! We are staying at Royal Pacific, so I rented a car from Hertz after the cruise so we can go to the Space Center and then to our hotel. I don't want to pay parking so I'm returning the car when we get settled, as we won't need a car at Universal. It's crazy how our plans are so similar to your plans.

After I sent my reply email (first quote) to her "form" letter ..her tune changed...lol. I haven't replied because our plans have change and we might be heading to World that day..but I am happy just to be proven right....:rotfl2:

*see below

Ms. McGary,

In talking with our NASA liaison office, these tickets are available if time permits. Generally people request around a year ahead and then we are able to get tickets. If you are booking that far ahead I am more than happy to talk to the NASA liaison office again. Just let me know.

Thanks,

Courtney

I am sooo excited just got my confirmation that we have 4 free passes waiting for us at the Kennedy Space Center for July 4th!! Hubby will be thrilled!!:cool1:
