Do ALL AAA members get the discount at the treasure ketch and castaway cay? Or do you have to have your reservation through AAA Travel to be elegible for the discount?

We have a 2 Porthole Cabins booked through AAA and 3 people in one cabin and 4 in the other. Does the credit go per cabin or per person in each cabin? Seeing that each person gets a mug in past cruises, just wondering what our credit may be? Have a call into our TA at AAA but haven't heard back yet.

Number one -- I spoke to DCL directly. Bars and room service will still be charging for soda. But at least you have somewhere to get it free now.

Number two -- the AAA discounts mentioned are only if you book through AAA. They give you a special discount card to be used for those discounts (different than your membership card). It comes with your cruise package.

Jim - not sure about that, but DU wouldn't let me combine my $200 onboard credit with their onboard credit when I switched to them. They said Disney does not allow two different credits. You should check on this.

On the quote I posted, it says at the botton that onboard credit is combinable with other onboard credits. I'm a little bummed out that I didn't use AAA to book my cruise now...it sounds like a great deal!

Athene, I do believe it is for AAA booking, I'll ask when my TA calls me back.

Roberta & Ralph, the credit would only be per cabin. I don't think those mugs cost that much.

That's great news! It will cut down on the lines at the Bars just for a soda refill too!

I also just called my AAA office and the TA stated the ship board credit will be added to each cabins account. It is for folks who booked thru AAA only and anyone who sails after June 12 for the Magic and June 13 for the Wonder. She says there WILL be a charge in the bars for sodas. They are installing soda machines at the beverage station on deck #9 and at Topsiders Beach Blanket Buffet. The reason for the credit is to compensate the "Free AAA mug program" since soda will be "free" to all cruisers. The stateroom credit will be per cabin NOT per person. HTH.

So for an outside porthole room Deck 7 it will be a $50 credit for the room? Am I understanding it correctly now?

Is the soda free for everybody or just AAA guests? Will we need to purchase the mugs? Cathie

Cathie, the soda will be free for everybody, but the credit is just for the AAA bookings. AAA offered the soda mug/package as part of their booking benefits.

I just called my AAA TA and she told me that since we booked with our Disney Visa and already got a $50.00 shipboard credit that the two could not be combined - what a bummer:mad:

Free sodas YAY! ... but I sure wish Disney served Pepsi, LOL!!! Guess I'll still be bringing a six-pack onboard for sipping on my veranda.

lowkat:

AAA still has to compensate you for the free soda package -- which now is not a part of your cruise package and was when you booked. I would call back and talk to the manager at that AAA office. If they are not giving you soda mugs, they have to substitute something else!

Its not AAA that won't give the discount, it Disney who says they can't double up. But you are right, there should be some little compensation, it was part of our booking with AAA.

I hear you on the Pepsi thing, DH works for Pepsi and we usually bring some with us. But free soda for he kids, a big plus with teenagers.

I just spoke with my AAA TA. She read the same message to me that was posted earlier. She just received the e-mail today. Thanks for posting this. We leave tomorrow for the 6/12 sailing and would have been quite surprised otherwise! The drink program normally sells for around $38/person for a 7 nighter, so $150 seems like fair compensation for our family of four. Wonder what they're doing to do with all of those AAA cruise mugs? I'm surprised at the late notice though. Surely DCL planned this months ago so that they could arrange to have the soda fountains installed for this weekend. So either someone or DCL or AAA dropped the ball in passing the word along. Oh, well. No big deal in the grand scheme of things. Now, back to packing!

Sounds like it might have been more trouble than it was worth to make people pay for soda under certain conditions. Terrific news.
