Can someone tell me which would be the better deal on a moderate resort, the magic your way free dining or the 25% discount that is being offered for moderate resorts this Fall?

Here's my info:

4 adults
4 nights
moderate resort

Dec. 15 - 19th

we are getting 5 day park hoppers either way. should we get those through disney or is there a discounted venue online to purchase them?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

thank you!!

I say FD, since we're in that same situation,and that's a lot of food,etc.
Yes, I scrambled my numbers, but no matter what I do, it always saves us $$$ to do FD for 4 'adults' over a room discount.
I think with fd you have to buy a a package, and tix from them- if you do the discount only, buy thru undercover tourist, etc for a better price.
allears.net has all the menus and prices-so you can gauge your food costs oop....but eating TS with 4 adults daily is expensive without the free dining.....

Couple of questions for you, then I can run some numbers and tell you the prices.

1) 4 adults in 1 room or 2

2) What are your dates? - NEVERMIND - just saw these

What Mod resort do you want? Also give a back up

thank you! :)

So the only Mod for your dates available w\FREE Dining is Caribbean beach, and Port Orleans Riverside - Royal Rooms ONLY

So I went with Caribbean Beach for BOTH totals and here is what I found

Caribbean Beach Resort - Dec 15-19 4 adults, 1 room FREE DINING, 5 day hopper passes = $2301.52 Plus tax

Caribbean Beach Resort - Dec 15-19, 4 adults, 1 room, 5 days hopper passes, 25% Discount = #2107.20

So Free Dining is a MUCH BETTER deal - food will cost you WELL above the $200 difference for 5 days in the parks.

Have fun.

I'd do FD too with 4 adults..however I'd splurge and stay at POR-Royal Room vs CBR. CBR only has double beds unless you all are ok with that!

Dec 15-19, 4 adults, Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans Riverside with FREE Dining, 5 day hopper passes = $2436.56 - So for a little over $100 more you ALSO get bigger beds.

Yep, This is the way I would go, New Room, Free Dining.

I'd do this too! Not a bad price for 4 adults all inclusive pretty much

4 Adults ourselves going... and we upgraded to deluxe dining. no park commandos in our group. evening dinners at signatures is a way for us to relax and reflect...

even with discounts i think the extra adults in room adds a bit to the nightly price.

A Free Dining Discount is going to save your group about $210.00 per night off full price rack rates.

A 25% off room discount is going to save your group about $50.00 (at most) per night off full price rack rates.

So on a 4 night stay a FD discount saves you more than $800.00 and a 25% off room only discount on a 4 night stay is going to save you about $200.00. You are coming out WAY ahead with a free dining discount.

Also, to purchase the Disney Dining Plan, or to get it under a free dining discount, you have to be booked under a Magic Your Way Package, that included room, tickets and dining.

We did FD a few years back when it was five of us (2 rooms CSR). However, now that it's just the two of us (DH and me), FD doesn't really make sense (he wants to stay in the Epcot area...so either YC, BC or BWI).

I'm guessing that FD truly just makes sense for a family of more than 2.

I agree with you. When it is just 2 adults and you are staying in a Deluxe resort the room discount is the better discount, especially since that discount is generally 30 or 35% off.

For our trips with me & DH (2 adults). It's usually a better deal to get FD on a moderate stay and use the room discount on a deluxe stay. Although as Disney continues cutting back the room discounts (in % amount and variety of resorts), it may become a better deal to get the FD even at a deluxe. With only 5% savings at some of the deluxes this fall, I'll go with FD.

We're also 4 'disney' adults - DDs 13 & 15 this trip, so FD was a MUCH better deal. In fact if I put in our dates in mid December, a discounted RO Moderate booking would only save us $120 over our FD 7 night stay. Staying at a Value resort would save us about $100 a night, but I sincerely doubt the four of us could eat at WDW for less than $100 a day, especially given we're doing a few different TS and Character Meals.
