Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!! Dates Confirmed!!! ~ Part 2

Okay. Relatively new here. We booked our trip for November in May, we were going regardless of the free dining. We booked through a travel agent who only works part-time and is not in on Thursdays. Our current reservations are for POR in a riverview room. Is it okay for me to call and make the changes needed to get free dining? Or do I have to do it through the travel agent?

Your TA will have to make the changes. Does s/he not know about this offer starting? If not, be sure to tell him or her! It's a big day for Disney TAs and not a day to take off. I know my alarm will be set for 6am to add FD to clients' reservations as soon as the phone lines open up at 7am. The only downside to being a TA is that my own reservation will have to wait until I take care of my clients, LOL! I hope there is still some FD dining left for my family when I get around to mine. pixiedust:

I didn't get any information from Chip. Note that Chip also said Grand Floridian was excluded. That wasn't in the information passed to me....I'm just passing along what I was able to determine.

Believe me, I didn't want to even report it, but I felt it best. :confused3

That is unacceptable!! I'm a travel agent too, I work from home, raise 3 kids, and I'll I do is Disney stuff and I respond to people the same day....always, no matter what. That's why I have an iPhone! If I were you, I would book it yourself on thursday and then call her and have her cancel your other reservation.

Another TA here, and I agree 100% with this. Book it yourself and then cancel the other reservation. That is unacceptable.

How does that work when the trip, tickets and all are already paid for? Once in our room I'm not planning on moving until I check out to come home.

They will refund anything that needs to be refunded and modify your current package by removing the night of the 10th. They will make the room only reservation and then link them. They will not guarantee that you can keep the same room, so if you are unwilling to accept that you might have to move, I would just try for the room discount and forget FD so you are guaranteed that you will have the same room for the whole stay.

It should not be an issue at all, they will simply modify your existing reservation and no other deposit would be required.

Even if I'm switching from one room at AOA to two rooms at POP. I'm so confused lol. All these changes my head is spinning!

Seems strange since its automatically done across the board in the system, there isn't even a prompt for the CM to choose to add it or not. This has been going on since last fall when FD was released. Have they now ended this and recoded the system? Seems a couple of people are saying they weren't charged the upgrade price . . .

Interesting.

I priced everything before booking and made a spreadsheet with prices from AoA, ASMu and 2 rooms at pop. When I switched the price stood spot on with my spread sheet right down to the penny. IDK maybe a glitch in the system with all the changes lately to the website.

Again, highly skeptical, GF is wide open for booking during these proposed FD dates. The suites at GF are always excluded from the discounts, but not the regular rooms. GF rarely ever sells out, even with discounts.

Exactly, which is why I didn't trust any of his information.

The three resorts I listed were provided by another source...as much as it floored me, I have no choice but to pass it along due to the validity of where it came from.

Great googly moogly! I finally get a chance to run a few errands and I miss all the excitement of the evening! :rotfl2:

I cannot wait until Thursday!!! I've had FD for two months now, but I feel like I am getting it all over again with all of the excitement of everyone. I see that the rumored exclusions from this morning are coming to fruition. That bums me out, but I hope everyone can work it out to at least get a discount of some sort somewhere. Just remember that no matter where you end up, you will have an AMAZING trip! I am just so happy for all of you! :goodvibes

Whoop!!!! Finally here!! Thanks to you and others that keep us all informed! ;-)

Well, the new website IS truly a shameful, heinous abomination that Disney should be embarrassed to claim as their own.

Might explain this issue?

couldn't agree more. I hope it all fixes itself rather than get worse when the rest off the magic+ features roll out.

Can't wait for Thursday morning! I need to change our dates and now hotel. We wanted AS Movies but I guess we'll move to Pop. We've stayed there plenty before and like it. It's a bit more though than the AS's but oh well! :goodvibes

Is anyone else not upgrading their dining? Our 2011 trip was the first time we didn't upgrade our dining and we actually LOVED the QS plan :thumbsup2

We are not upgrading and have a room at POP. Just me and my husband -- we don't want the pressure of a bunch of ADRs. I do have reservations for CRT and BOG that we will pay out of pocket. Can't wait!.

We made ADR's for each night (we weren't sure which dining plan we were going with). I plan to cancel all but 2 or 3, I just haven't decided which ones yet ;)

So I have emailed my TA at around 4 times in the last 2 weeks and no response. What should I do? I need her to book free dining on August 1st. I emailed her my resort changing and everything and still nothing. Should I call the travel agent company and try to get someone else to add it for me Thursday. Ugh I'm stressing here. What should I do???

Ugh! I would call the company and ask if she is still there? Is it a local agency? Could you drive over? I would definitely get someone calling for you in Thursday. So sorry Angela.

I didn't think any part of my Disney planning process would be as stressful as my ADR day... and then there was free dining day! I'm hanging in there until Thursday :surfweb:
